New Gran Turismo 5 Trailer + Info (Global Servers)

So I got the inside scoop on Gran Turismo's delay and release date from a couple of clerks at my local Gamestop.

Apparently, the game was delayed, not due to piracy issues, but because Yamauchi wasn't happy with the way that two cars sounded.

Also, they assured me that Gran Turismo 5 will not come out this year, but rather in January. I told them that I hadn't realized that the game has gotten a revised release date. They assured me it had.

Going to the computer one of the clerks told me the new release date was January 1st. My suggestion that January 1st might simply be a placeholder date because 1) It's a national holiday and many retail outlets would be closed, delivery services like UPS and FEDEX wouldn't be delivering, etc. and 2) January 1st is on a Saturday, not a Tuesday was met with blank stares.

So, yeah, January 1st confirmed by a couple of Gamestop employees.

That pretty much confirms it for me. Gamestop Clerk > Kaz
 
So sony has a PR conference @ Paris Gameweek in arround 2h - any chance that the might tell us the new release date? They said they are going to announce it in October right ?

Not necessarily, because supposedly Sony is holding a press-conference on sunday aswell as in a couple of hours?! For what it's worth...:lol .

That one is not :D

But as I know, even the both "official" reasons are not correct, however one day maybe real info will go public.
 
Jan 1 is a place holder date in Gamestop's computer system. Nothing more nothing less.

All we can do is wait for Sony or PD to spill the official beans at this point.

I don't really care for a reason, I just care for a release. Even the announcement for a release date is not going to be good enough, as they are able to play around with that.

Although I don't care for the real reason, I am a bit curious for the real reason for the delay.
In Japanese customs it's probably something out of honour, that you don't talk about...

It's irrelevant, but I've cancelled my pre-order for this now. I'm still going to buy the game, but I'm just going to ignore its existence until it's actually in shops. Will likely pick it up after I've got through a couple of games on my backlog rather than picking it up day one.

Feeling a little jaded, even though I know it's going to be awesome.

GT5 will be awesome but don't fall into the mental rut due to it. There are plenty of other games around. Supercar V8 Racing is an excellent game to hold you over. 20 on US PSN.

As stupid as it might be, I actually pre-ordered my CE after the Nov 3 release was delayed :lol
 
I very nearly swapped to the collectors edition back then. No harm in just putting it out of my mind for a while though. I might even get myself a nice bargain later on.

I think it's the one that was released in '09. It says V8 Racing in the PSN version. What was added for the sequel?

I'm beginning to bet the dude/dudette who posted on Twitter that we'd get the release date by the end of the month is beginning to regret those comments :P

Next stop is the Gran Turismo awards next week, so maybe then.

If not then, then I don't know anymore.

Yeah for sure, but I meant more announcing it tied into something. Announcing it Paris Games Show or Gran Turismo awards would make some sense, and would indicate that it could still come this year.

Anything later than after next week, then I think you'd have to really begin to wonder what's going on.

No one needs to be expecting this before XMAS. It's going to be late December or January/Feb. It's still almost here but it should have been here in a few days.
 
Are we posting in this or the other X1 unveil thread? I would rather post in 1 or the other. Preferably the newer thread.

PS3 does have games, multiplat or not. GT5 was their ace but oh well, it's still coming. I did just buy Supercar V8 Racing, should hold me over until 2011. And NFS.

Besides Black Ops, what other big release should I be anticipating this fall?

you know that a release date in jan/feb truly means next XMAS(2011)/infinity and beyond :(

PS3 only? Hot Pursuit, Sly Cooper, Assassin's Creed, and NBA Jam.

Only games i was looking forward to this fall were LBP2, GT5, Epic Mickey, DKCR, and Golden Sun... Looks like only Nintendo delivered.
 
Pretty ridiculous not having a release date at this stage for your biggest series Sony..
Give us atleast a trailer before november.
 
Any site that reported that stupid SCEE damage control about a release date before the end of the month should now report that that date has been missed. You cant allow SCEE to get away with this quietly.
 
I think we're being trolled. Games going to be on shelves Tuesday and Sony is going to be like "lulz, gotsya" and then Steve Jobs is going to be like "No, I gots you Sony!"

Same here in the Netherlands, only online shops really changed their dates.
I can't believe Sony didn't communicate it well to the retailers before delaying the game, because they have all kind of promotions going on with signs showing GT5, traiilers for the "November 3" release :lol
