Turn off the phone, shower while game installs so you feel fresh, light some scented-candles and boil some relaxing green tea.

That's what I'll be doing anyway. ;_;

Anything in particular? Potpourri?

I just got my Dual Shock 3 today, and gave MGS2 a quick go on it, and I feel I cannot improve the experience of playing MGS4 for the first time any more.

June 12th I will have, or already have:
-MGS4
-DS3
-50" HDTV
-Dolby Surround Set up.

Is there anything else, at all, that would improve the experience?

Someone to give you a handjob/blowjob while playing it?

AMAZING pics btw

PS3?

Some good suggestions there. (I have a PS3, hence "just got my Dual Shock 3 today, and gave MGS2 a quick go on it")

Scented candles sounds pretty nice. I might consider that.

I know my blinds will be closed, as it being a June, and the room the TV is in, the sun always appears from that side of the building. My mum usually watches Celine Dion concerts on that TV, but for the next few days of me having the game, she will not.
The problem I am facing is that I have to complete the game before I go abroad, and that happens on the 16th. So calling in sick for work is also in order.
In addition, I think I will order a bunch of my favourite crisps, McCoys Mexican Chilli. I will have water, but I won't drink too much of it, as drinking too much will mean I will need to use the bathroom, and since that is upstairs, that would be wasting approximately 5mins or so each time. The phone will most likely be on silent, and the house phone will be switched off.
I have decided that on each day I will wake up at approximately 8am, and continue the game at around 8:30. I need to limit my sleep to around 6 hours or so. This means that over the course of 3 days, I will accumilate about 51 hours of game playing time. I think this is more than enough time to both complete the game, whilst thoroughly enjoying it at a steady pace.

Have I missed anything out?

Edit: Oh, the most important thing has been left out!

A box of tissues.

Also, i hear there is going to be a midnight launch at Times Square Virgin Megastore. Kojima will be there to sign copies of the game and take pics.

Tell. Me. More.

I already preordered the L.E from Gamestop but damn..

Edit.
Found this:

So I was wandering the Times Square Virgin Megastore today... a sign next to the playstation display says they're going to hold a launch event for MGS4 on June 11th (12 midnight). Kojima will be there to sign copies of the game (the sign states you must purchase the game at the event) and take photos, etc. I cant find anything about it online though, so you probably won't believe me but the sign definitely said it and my reading comprehension can't be that bad.

I'll be in the city later running some errands but I think a sneaking mission to verify this is definitely in order.

Looks amazing. Going to pick up the Essentials package to replay the games. How long will it take me to go through the trio?

I'd hold off on getting excited about the music from your harddrive for the iPod until there's more confirmation. They didn't mention that at all at that completion even they held.

Also i'm still surprised people are complaining about the product placement in the game. The series takes place in the real world and uses real weapons but it's not allowed to use any other real products?

This is going to be the greatest game ever...........hopefully.
I have a pretty good feeling that it just might end up as such.

I'm so excited for this, you can't even imagine my anticipation. I just ordered the Limited Edition Playstation 3 bundle. I can't wait.

Spoiler on
Vamp
battle:
Solid Snake and Raiden team up!

Goddamn it. Why did I read that? :(

Since we're talking about spoilers, what's the one poster implying from the Dutch OPM where Snake
is playing some kind of shadow game following someone?

And a case of this drink.

I think that any spoiler should be deleted from now on of neogaf instantly, not necessarily requiring a ban, of course, but yes on massive spoiler deletion.

Why? because I can not avoid seeing them :(

This could be the best game ever.

From an italian review (taken from mgs.org forums)

Also, an italian review said there will be a sort of "shadowing" section (i don't know if i have translated it well, the act of following someone without being discovered XD) with Snake (the one dressed like Blade Runner's main character) and that there will be several vehicle sequences (like the one in the motorbike) and that Snake will drive a HUGE machine (probably the rex, but i don't know if playable or not).
Sorry for my bad english XD

That doesn't make sense, I always thought Ocelot dressed up like Deckard from Blade Runner, not snake. Look at the two links below:

Deckard - http://media.bladezone.com/contents...s/costumes/rachael/images/BR-Rach-coat-01.jpg

Ocelot -
http://images.wikia.com/metalgear/i...d_Ocelot.jpeg/180px-MGS4_-_Liquid_Ocelot.jpeg

So are you implying that Snake dresses up in the trench coat to follow Ocelot? or we get to play a bit as Ocelot, or what?

MGS4: 19/20 on Joypad (French magazine)! Nothing new shown (basically, the same shots than the OPM review)
Can't have details now.

It weren't me, dunno what he means to be honest. It's from the forum on MGS.org

Official Playstation Magazine - Spain

METAL GEAR SOLID 4 96/100
+ Everything: graphics, story, sound, gameplay,...
- Nothing.

They say it's the best game in the series. They didn't give it 100/100 because they think that, in the future, we can see games with better gfx/sound.

(They also review GTA4: 98/100

Graphics obviously but better sound. I thought they were going all out in that aspect.

I don't trust any of these scores.

Back when MGS3 came out, only Gamespot gave it a score that I personally agreed upon. However that was the GregK era, now GS has gone down the shitter. So I really can't trust any online review site.

In any case, I'd buy this game even if it got a 3/10.

story too complex for people who are not into the series

That's the great thing, beginners can play the story more than once and get some information they didn't understand or just missed, in their first playthrough.

WTF!!! They should review it in present and shouldn't take things that are coming from their crystal ball ffs(if that were true no game should get 100). And the GTA4 review in comparison... No words for such a FUD(<------------ wrong use, shame on me :(. Let's just say it's heresy).

Incense... Nag Champa for the first 3/4ths... Frankincense and Muhr for the last 1/4th...

Wine and water for liquids...

Cigars (Drew Estates Natural's (china 5 or juicy lucy would be the perfect size)), an occasional cigarette...

A few other things that are not to be listed...

...

You're waiting for the big boys reviews to come up? 1up, EGM, Edge and GS are jokes when it comes to PS3 game reviewing. They try to cater to their audience and get as many hits as possible instead of properly reviewing the games.

Wouldn' be surprised if the game got 8 from GS.

Same, I can't trust any scores after GTAIV apparently being the best game of all time.

Bandana, Eye Patch, cigarettes, glasses, mustache, soundproof room with lock so nobody can disturb you, Rations like instant noodle, Gakko clock, MGS4 T-Shirt from Uniqlo and as DancingCactus77 mentioned a lot of Regain.

Why is it that every MGS4 review seems to be contradicting itself?

Pro:
Amazing story
Con:
Story is too amazing

or

Pro:
EVERYTHING. ..graphics, sound...
Con:
There will be games with better graphics and sound in the future

Maybe it's just European reviewers

Maybe it's just hard to fault the game so they search for something to just throw out there so people don't think the review is biased?

Hmm, looks like they did all the colouring on an uncalibrated BRAVIA or other wide-gamut display. (I suspect that's how Resistance ended up looking so bland as well)

Look what happens when I assign a wide gamut profile to this image:

It's a real shame, because these wide gamut displays are way off the HD spec, which is what developers should be designing for.

I think your right because MGO looked better in VIVID mode then in my custom setting on my SXRD and its one of the only game that did that.

I think he was talking about his own post ;)

Maybe ;). Let's just say you've got the contradicting points really well, i.e. their points of cons are not very convincing. And I can't really understand why they would give it lower or equal points up until now(didn't play MGS4, but I'm sure it'll be better).

I'm contemplating if I should replay any of the MGS games. My fear is that if I finish a MGS game right before MGS4 is released, I could end up getting the "GTA4 syndrome", as in I'll quickly get bored because it's nothing special from the past interation, but the MGS series is one of my favorite franchises, so maybe it wouldn't happen. :lol
