about the English vs Japanese voices thingie..I guess its whatever rocks your boat.
If you are some hardcore "anime i want japanese voices"dude you prob want the JP ones, no matter what.
I really dont think the Japanese voices are that great..especially Meryl's japanese sqeaky high pitch voice for me it just doesnt connect to the type of woman Meryl is. The delivery is for everone just standard hihg profile anime. Snake's is a pretty standard hero voice. And in real life, Japanese people dont talk like this at all, its over dramatic but thats their thing.
Thats also my biggest reason against it. The English voices have a more distinct texture in their voice then those Japanese ones.
I lived in JP and my wife is japanese, she also prefers the English voices for the same reasons. The voice work remind of me of Appleseed Ex Machina which was also one big cringe fest.. in terms of overdramatic delivery of lines.
Like I said, it depends where you're own preference lies.
But that the general idea is given here that the Japanese ones are superior is complete shyt.

How can anyone say this game doesn't look good? As far as I can remember, we've seen pictures that looked too clean and had weak textures before, like in MGS3. I remember the game looking better in motion than the screens, like say the screens on Gamespot.

Yeah, the PS3 is a darn fine system under the hood, but the allure of Bioshock, Gears of War, Halo, and a well established online community won out. That being said Sony has exclusives like the delicious Resistance and Uncharted and amazing devs like Naughty Dog.
So both are mighty tasty systems. I can't picture owning all three systems with complete competency, but maybe I'll have to make room.
I'm going to have to figure something out because I don't want things spoiled for me.

Yup, 60FPS is too big of a selling point to not brag about if the game was indeed running at 60.

After replaying MGS2 this week and experiencing the silky smoothness, it's a bit disappointing that this game won't be 60fps. But only a bit, it really doesn't need it.
It seems to be base locked at 30, but it certainly looked closer to 60 at some points in the recent launch party event in Tokyo (video from there I mean). Even the Assassin's Solid video isn't locked at 30.jett said:

I agree on the second point too. I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer the PS3's library. You should trade in your 360. Haven't you already played Bioshock and Halo? I'm sure you have friends you can play Gears 2 with in ten hours or however long it is.

Well, going by the MGO beta, the game is not locked limited to 30fps, but it does have v-sync. Which means if at any point the game engine is somehow running at 60fps, it will display at that framerate. It tops out at 30fps 99.99999999999999% of the time, though.
And well... none of the latest videos/trailers have been encoded at 60fps, so it's kind of impossible to get anything from them.The only thing I can tell is that going by the videos at the new MGS4 website the framerate is not even locked at 30fps.

Even though I feel as if I need to buy Snake a drink for his throat, I definitely overall prefer the English voice work.
Interesting with their grunting and cries differences, heh, the Japaneses do seem more vocal with their cries of pain.

Quick question: there was an awesome scene in one of the Sons of Liberty trailers (http://youtube.com/watch?v=mBq_cCFO67o @2:30) where Snake jumps off the tanker to chase after Ray but as I'm replaying SoL, it's just RAY. Was it removed? Is my memory playing tricks on me?
Or was it towards the end..

Yes theres a model of Mei Ling in MGS: VR Mission for the PS1. But obviously its using the PS1 engine.
