Because starting at 55 seconds, the piece is clearly a rip off from John Powell's Bourne OST.

Well it reminds me of the theme from when fighting Fatman from MGS2 mixed with a a very slight of Jason Bourne-ish.

Everything after that seems to be a remix of older MGS1 or MGS2 themes/music with some changes or in a new style.

It seems the only original piece this time around is the love theme but that even sounds a bit like pirates of the carribbean in the starting!
 
I've listened to the first disc of the MGS 4 ost, it's superb, quite different from previous albums, a lot more serious and somber at times but very epic.

From what I've heard (CD1), it really reminds me of a Bourne soundtrack at times. Also Black Hawk Down, Spy Game and Enemy of the State (much much moreso than the MGS 2/3 albums). Gee, I wonder why!
 
Loved the CD1 preview, the soundtrack is very influenced by scores written by HGW for his previous films, along with the scores written by his mentor Hans Zimmer.

There is also a "hint" of morricone in some pieces.

Maybe later if I feel like it, or maybe someone else will do it. It isn't like I'm lying here. I'm the biggest Bourne fan there is. I even listen to about 80% of the Bourne OSTs on my ipod when I'm working out. :lol

I haven't seen this supposed new trailer that the picture comes from or whatever, but how is it different, from say, what appears in this trailer pasted a few pages back?

Same clothes (well he is visiting a graveyard, I guess), same gun, much the same lighting. The only difference I can see from that picture alone is that his face appears much more wrinkled and old, though that detail may just be hard to see in the video due to the low resolution.

You don't hear a similarity in the first song? I definitely can, but not much though.

I didn't listen to the second song in it's entirely, but I didn't think that one was very similar.

I read on the TUS forums that someone got an early copy of MGS4 and most members think the spoilers he has given out seem legit (I haven't seen for myself as I was too scared)

If true then you should also avoid most other sites also like Game Trailers. As you'll see that some users there have no problem putting spoilers right out there so they appear on the front page.

I'd stay away from there too if you're searching for MGS4. I was watching a video earlier and that picture spoiler that was posted earlier in this thread was the picture of a preview video. So if someone leaks pictures that's what the type of stuff you might see.

I got spoiled the same as you did.

When you think about it though, it aint that big of a deal. To me, anyways.
 
It really is a shame if the "real" MGS theme is left out.

I'd like to say though that I'd welcome the adding of "Calling to the Night"(MPO closing theme) of MGS4 in some respect. I personally think it's just as good as "The Best is Yet to Come".
 
Just got my hands on my copy of the MGS 4 soundtrack - haven't listened to it yet (I'm at work) but I love the packaging for it.

Height-wise, it's about as tall as a dvd case. The case itself is a slim, 2-cd clear case. The booklet for the liner notes is really nice - the paper they use is the same slightly translucent, plasticky-feeling paper that they've used for the Saga dvd liner notes.
