New Microsoft Privacy Statement Explains How Xbox One’s Kinect Collects Data

At least when you call out someone for editing remember the whole thing genius: "Just unplug the Kinect from the internet" That is exactly what I said!

By the way, use a little more originality than "white knight". Come up with your own material.
I didn' t remember it exactly, but i figured you were proud enough to correct me..so thank's for showing your hand. Genius. :D

Because someone has a patent on white knight, i was saying it before you could spell it , be serious.

Microsoft may destroy the data, but NSA will store it for them.

NSA will know our anatomical weak points

And who the %#$# are you, he' s trying to pretend he didn't edit his comment (i remembered it verbatim), and you sail out of the blue yonder with nonsense.

Which is it?

You're a charicature, to be so critical of this forum, you sure do like spending much of your time on it crapping it up with these defensive posts.

And this, btw is what I was referring to. Calling people names instead of actually engaging them in a conversation. It's childish.

I can't even imagine all the devious things advertisers could do with my face measurements.

Pretty much.

LoL MS destroys the values .. right after NSA intercepts that shit in transit.
WHAT IS GOING ON!

"You're only a stick figure but here's some Mountain Dew ads, I see you like to drink it"

Thx Microsoft

If you’re playing online “Microsoft may collect those numeric values to enable and improve gameplay and improve the gaming experience” but the values sent to Microsoft are “destroyed after analysis is complete.” The company notes you will not be able to be identified by your stick figure representation.
I take it you can opt out of this via privacy settings?

Lens Crafters ads incoming.
Considering some of the ResolutionGate posts I've read this might be a good idea.

The latter, did you actually read the post, look up subterfuge, then stalking, you're creeping me out.

They might just seem like sticks to us but don't forget, a sharpened stick is a good weapon and we all know how good Microsoft is at sharpening :P

Ahh, only the values sent. What happens to the results of analysis? If I "analyse" a photograph by inverting the colours and altering the hue, and then destroy the original, I still have access to all its information.

Also, PRISM renders most of the data privacy strategies useless anyway.

Sssssshhhhh let people dream.

The may actually mean it is. Every call you make is recorded and kept and so if you want to sue a customer service for what ever reason they have the recordings.

Really, the NSA thing already proven that people having access to the data will use it to spy on people they know. You really think that guys at Microsoft wont drop in on private calls of friends or family or people they like if they have the ability to do so?
Of course some will.

Then a year from now after you own a bunch of games you will turn on the system and a message will pop up "Privacy has Change, please accept legal stuff".

I highly doubt that a big number of MS, or any major company for that matter, employees has acces to that kind of data.
But yeah I agree with your point that almost everything we do is already recorded and stored via different means like simple phone calls or the security cams at your local mall.

And if the NSA or any other government organization across the globe intercepts that data, then that's their fault and people should be more upset with them.

In terms of voice chat, however, the privacy statement advises users they “should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features such as voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions offered through the Services.” Microsoft says it may monitor communications “to the extent permitted by law, but we cannot monitor the entire Service and make no attempt to do so.” The company reminds users that other players could record and use your communications on Xbox Live and your “[c]ommunications in live-hosted gameplay sessions may also be broadcast to others.”
...
but the NSA might..

My Halo 3 edition Xbox 360 literally rejected this new policy...I signed in to play some black ops with my friends tonight...accepted the new policy and by the time CoD was able to load to the main menu I got tons of black bars all over my screen...

Upon reboot...e74....

MS's privacy policy confirmed to be bricking 360's trying to force that next gen upgrade!...

On a side note...if she wasn't a Halo 3 edition I'd retire her to that living room in the sky...but I think I'll take the time to fix it so I can keep it hooked up and working...

I worked as a security guard in a hospital and one of the night guy really liked the mornings when all the nurses came in because he would zoom the camera on them walking.
Really, the moment you give somebody some power he will use it to the full extend and more. The NSA is also supposed to have a really low number of people who can access the database, and yet we have at least a dozen of cases where people got caught spying on family or lovers or whoever for personal gain.

I will unplug the kinect of the one for sure when I do not use it.

Unsure why people are singling out Kinect when there's 1001 ways you can be tracked by the NSA (or any agency really wanting to track you for that matter). The least of which a peripheral you don't even need to hook up.

I wouldn't one-on-one compare local video equipment that is controlled by a security guard with data stored on a datacenter. Were security guards, and other personal that has nothing to do with the data stored, can't access the data.
You're free to unplug the Kinect/PS EYE/etc. if you want, nobody is forcing you to use one.

That may be the case. It may not. One thing is for sure--the very first company that signed on to PRISM should NOT be given the benefit of doubt. In this case, that is Microsoft.

But why would I pay $500 for Xbox One if I'm not going to use Kinect? To play the latest CoD in 720p? I can do that with a 360 already.
Do you really want me to answer or are you going piss all over it with the resolution warsssssZOMGWTFBBQ!!!1!!!!

To play Xbox exclusive games. That's why.
Maybe that doesn't appeal to you, in which case I wonder why you even posted this and you should just not buy an Xbone.

Obviously a game running at 720p on Xbox One is identical to the same game running at 720p on 360. You silly gamer, I'm surprised you didn't know that.

In order to use the camera to sign you in, Kinect “measures distances between key points on your face to create a numeric value that represents only you.

so this is how Kinect sees me and stores me in memory?
