New Ocarina of Time 3D Trailer

Gah. I give up.

I'm out.
yeah.. they must not understand that a NEW zelda game would have looked much better.
This is just a touched up remake. A combination of staying true to the game and making some minor cosmetic changes.

Wow, this is actually the first trailer for this game that's made me really excited for it! I was always looking forward to it somewhat, but the game just looks great in that trailer. Can't wait.

I think people understand that this isn't the best the 3DS is capable of.

But I don't think it looks too good by todays standards. Textures can look a little blurry, water looks bad, it all screams "low polygon", environments look rather empty etc.

If this wasn't a remake of a much loved classic, people wouldn't be praising it's visuals.

god dammit nintendo almost worth getting a 3DS for the god damm nostalgia :/

Just replay the N64 version if you want nostalgia. :P

Not saying the 3DS version isn't worth it, just sayin' if you don't have a 3DS already.

Nope.

Reminds me if one of OoTs greatest acheivements, that feeling of cruising around in a carefree world but being able to see far off adventures on the horizon, wondering what will happen when you get out if your cozy home. Cool shit.

Maybe the 3DS just isn't for you in general...

It looks a lot better than the 64 original, but those origins shine through in the overall look. Which makes sense. I'm just saying people who have never had exposure to OOT are likely to be unimpressed by the visuals.

Considering the hardware, they pulled off some great things with the DS. I'm certain the 3DS is capable of some impressive things, but I don't think this is one of them.

I was more referring to him criticizing the low polygon count when the strength of the 3DS in general is not in that area at all.

Its not so much a remake as it is a remastering. They are keeping the game in line with what was intended originally. Sure they could have gone hog wild and twilight princess skinned the whole game graphically but thats not what they were going for

How do reviewers go about taking on this game???

I mean, it's a 10 game or most would say close but it's old though it looks and plays better and has bonus content.

Are we looking at 9.5s because it's still an old game or will it get many 10s??

No one should care(nor do I really), just wondering.

I agree completely, and it's a good way to treat the original respectfully. An intentional choice on Nintendos behalf. But it shouldn't be shocking that some people don't find it impressive visually.

This.

They did a marvelous job at creating landmarks and specific locations you could identify an experience with. This quality is only heightened when you return 7 years later (as Adult Link) and the first thing you see is Hyrule Castle in utter shambles and you can't wait/dread to go see the state of those prominent landlmarks. Great fucking game.

It doesn't really matter what score this game gets. It's going to sell well. I'm actually surprised about many of the graphical changes that this game has gone through. If I had a 3DS, this would be day one.

Too true, just one of the many accomplishments of OOT, heck even little things like the way music became a part of the gameplay were such clever little additions that are often overlooked.

Amazing game, but I'm not sure I'll buy it for a good while, redone soundtrack would have pushed me over the edge and had me go out and buy a 3DS with this game day one.

Yeah, I know, I just wondered what the thought process is when reviewing remakes or enhanced ports.

I really want to replay this on the 3DS. It's been way too long.

Finally the goodness is coming for this little machine. After E3 I expect things to get crazy good.

Wow, I've seen these screenshots a bunch of times now and was impressed with how they fixed up the Market, but I just noticed how they seem to have slightly moved the Temple of Time over a bit to the right so you can actually see Death Mountain in the background in the 3DS version, without actually having to get right near the ToT's entrance to see it as in the original. Very nice. Can't wait to see how that view will actually look in 3D.

I love how the Temple of Time looks in the 3DS version, although it now looks at odds with the rest of the village which seems a bit too different in style..

It looks good, and I'll most likely get it day one.. however I still think they should have given this more polish and attention.

Trailer really made me smile. Nostalgia overload. This'll be the first time I play the game in 6 years (holy shit).

BGE*

*best game ever

noooo, i wanted them changed. not 'cause there's a problem, but just because i would have liked to hear 'em arranged. :(

that trailer was of a higher quality than it had any right to be, especially with that badass logo animation at the end.

it looks like any ancient cathedral juxtaposed against modern stalls and colorful shit

Yeah...ok...great, BUT I would have been much more happier if it was an original Zelda. Nintendo can be so lazy...

Don't worry they're probably working on one right one and you'll have the leisure to complain about it in a few month/a year :)

It looks like a Neo gothic cathedral with some dutch Fachwerk Houses and a uber Fantasy Mask Shop... Great Mix if you ask me.

Man, to the people who haven't played this ever, what a treat they're in for, easily one of the best games of all time.
I was replaying OoT on the Virtual console lately, and I am still amazed at how well the gameplay has aged. There is nothing inherently wrong or outdated about it. Even today, the tight controls, the flawless puzzle design and the perfect learning curve are among the best there are.

I almost feel like that youngster waiting for christmas to get the game all over again. (I - or rather my mum- was able to snag the last copy in my area 5 days before christmas when my family went to do the traditional christmas leisure shopping... I had given up hope to even get the game till january)

It's telling that I don't really remember playing the game itself for the first time, but all the stories correlated with the game.

Pretty sure the music is exactly the same.

The trailer music sounds way more advanced, and with 3DS cart storage space they could easily used compressed music files as opposed to real time synth.

Not sure I've heard gameplay footage music clearly enough to tell.

Everything I've heard from gameplay clips sounds exactly the same, but things could change of course.

Its exactly the same as on the N64.
