New patch for USF4 PS4 rolling out now

Kinda makes me wish everyone hadn't been so outrageous and just waited to see what the first few patches would do. We aren't too far out from launch. But still, it was wrong to release it in the state they released it in.

I'd like to believe the outrage helped get these patches out quicker, which, to be honest, was in the best interests of everyone.

When you're advertising a product that claims to be the ultimate standard and tournament sponsored yet on release it's absolutely the worst version of it, the outrage is warranted.

It also helped push these patches out quick.

Yeah, game's a lot better now and definitely better than on PS3.

That said, Sony still deserved the backlash and ultimately should have delayed the game for at least 2-3 weeks.

Good to hear this is coming around. Guess I'll finally be picking this up. The fact that they fixed it this quick though just makes it seem like such a horrible decision to release it as it was.

Any indication if the AF on stages other than training has been increased?
They fixed this training stage issue in a previous patch.
PC is still the best version, but PS4/360 is basically the same now.
PC version only has less than 5 frames of input lag when using a g-sync monitor, or when disabling v-sync.

So I assume that the only thing they can do to go under 5 frames of input lag in consoles is to include an option in the settings to disable v-sync in the PS4 version. But you know, to disable vsync usually means screen tearing and unconsistent framerate.

Alright my Hori RAP 4 is set to arrive on tuesday, I might buy this during the weekend and try it out with my old PS3 Fight stick first to see the difference

If everyone outraged quieter the patches probably wouldn't have been so quick.

this goes for so many games these days. they could avoid the backlash, the refunds, and the apologies that almost always include free DLC at their own expense.

You wouldnt want less than 5 frames of lag anyway.

not bad. tempted to get it for learning/practice because SF5 looks awesome

SF5 looks like it plays way different from 4, but its better than nothing for practice lol.

fyi, Omega mode seems to share some similarities to SFV sans the V-stuff. Ryu has a "parry", longer input buffer making 1-framers easier which might be also in V and no hard knockdowns. It was probably some kind of approximation/playground when designing SFV.

Sony's staunch no refunds under any scenario digital policy prevented most of those in this case.

That isn't how it works with any game now. This is a very common practise for publishers to be aware of the faults but have deadlines to meet so push the games out regardless. The idea of "just holding it back a few weeks" has a mighty impact and while it's shitty for broken games to be released it has now become acceptable to depend solely on patches and it's unlikely to change :(

yes but you're ignoring all the context around this release
they were touting as as a perfect [port, they were going to be using it for huge tournaments etc all this shit

the higher-ups are straight up stupid for letting this out knowing full well it would be under insane scrutiny. BECAUSE of everything they were claiming and what the game was going to be used for

Anyone know what the lag is like with Q4 RAF Sticks?
I'm not a fighting game expert by any means, but I've been testing the Q4 and is working pretty well.

I was able to finish Ibuki and Rose's trials without any problems. If there is more lag than the DS4 I didn't noticed it.

Yeah what the hell these patches were basically Sony people going oh shit they hate it we need to solve this QUICK. Without any outrage this game would still be in a terrible state.

Been playing all weekend. It's great now, and I've noticed that there are a lot more higher level players around since the patch, which is good to see. Doesn't feel like Its 2009 when I'm online anymore.

I think 2 more patches or even just a BIG one can cement the ps4 as the definite edition. Maybe we'll get a patch before evo.

Probably not since patch or no patch the PS4 version will not be featured at EVO. No incentive to really release one before.

To be fair it works great now. So incompetent seems a bit harsh.

Incompetent sounds right. Competent people would have made it right the first time.

If it took an extended period to fix or had another team came in to fix the day, then I'd agree with you. But by the very definition of the word, no since they seemingly had the ability to get the input lag down to the gold standard. Capcom can't even patch their own stuff in a timely manner or efficiently.

You don't think that would bring even more backlash?

People seem to think that the capcup is all of the 500k. That money has already been partially parsed out at several tournaments, all of them using the 360 version.

Sony isn't going to do anything. SF5 is going to dominate the SF talk, not what console SF4, a 7 year old game, is running on. When they start showing off SF5 at every event, that's going to be what dominates the talk.

It could have been possible that Sony shipped it despite the fact that the development team said it needed more time. But in reality we don't know the full story.

"Now"?

Stuff like this has been happening for decades, lol. People seem to have this notion that video games "nowadays" are glitchy, while old school games were flawless.

Let me tell you...this is not true at all.

Deadlines existed then. Deadlines exist now. Rushed games have always existed.
The difference being that NOW they get patched. Then, they did not.

Man, I WISH my PS2 KOF: Orochi Saga disc could have been patched to fix the enormous loading times and glitches...

THIS patch just released, and it was after the announcement that PS4 version wasn't going to be in EVO.

I'm not sure why you guys think they would have just let the game go on unfixed. Contrary to popular belief, Capcom actually wants people to, you know, ENJOY their products.

If there were games with as many issues at the release version of this had I must have been really lucky as I never played any of them.

No older games were not flawless and sometimes bugs would get through, sometimes even game breaking ones like the Ninja Turtles one you can't properly pass the first stage on or the impossible mission game that's bugged and can't be finished.

I don't recall any games being released that were bugged to the extent this one was though.

The original release of this game was not good. But really? This is the worst title you've ever seen QA wise? I have to wonder how often you play videogames if this is the case. It wasn't even the worst fighting game port. Ridiculous.

Yeah. Mortal Kombat X for pc wasn't that long ago.

I thought I made it fairly clear that I was talking about in the pre-patch era. If that wasn't clear I'll implicitly state it now.

My point was that that this is the worst port ever or that it's a complete disaster, it's that the game almost definitely would not have "shipped" in this state had they not had the ability to patch it after.

For a game touted as the new tournament standard? Yes. They needed to get it perfect.
