good job pinka

I wish the pics were more colourful

Wow, thanks Millhouse! Downloading now. Are there enough pics to make a Warhawk avi?

edit - oops! I see its there! Thank you! Yummy Warhawk clouds..:D

This whole thing was obviously captured from a video using VLC originally... we definitely need the source.

Umm... wtf was wrong with these videos again? They look really impressive for real-time tech demos. Maybe not E3 targetted video quality yet but shit these still look great. I love the mud shit in Motorstorm.

Oh my crap, how is that NOT impressive again?!?

The model and lighting. Yes. The frame rate not so much. But all in all, that is impressive. This and MotoGP 2006 for X360 are blurring the lines between reality and games. This is shaping up to be a must-have launch title for me.

That's what I don't get--there couldn't have been a digi-cam able to take photos this fast (I think). There are also several frames missing inbetween (thus the jumps in the videos).

Well I'm impressed.

Warhawk looks friggin sweet.

R&C is just o_0. So much speed and activity, and I mean that's hard to convey with the crappy framerate, but you can see it.

If the vehicle dynamics demo is what we can expect in an actual game, I cannot wait :D Bye-bye flat decals..

Lair, obviously, is hot, as always.

The way they are named... "vlcsnap-xxxxx.jpg" means they were using the VLC video player to extract the movie frames as a JPG. Not every frame was extracted, just like ever 30th frame (going by the number scene).

So multiplayer.it obviously must have the original video file, somewhere.

8 FPS video comprised of recently released batch of JPGs.

I don't think anyone can really judge the framerate until we see proper video from E3.

So WTF @ the people giving pessimistic "impressions" from GDC.

THIS, boys and girls, is what I had hoped for from next gen.

everything looks great... there just better not be a screen tearing problem come launch time.

because motorstorm really wasn't 'wow' impressive. I think that is the common theme in the GDC impressions. no one said it looked like shit. It just didn't blow people away.

R&C was awesome though.

Totally. Motor Storm looked far worse in still picture from than it did in video. And in comparison to the E3 video, the only noticeable things I see missing are dust/dirt effects missing on the car and no car interaction. The graphics also look worse due to the fact that the GDC footage isn't as colorful on camera as the E3 trailer. I'm pretty confident that it'll really blow people away when it comes out, especially if they get 60fps on that game. :D

You have to remember that a lot of this was also because of the editing in the E3 vid. It was definitely more cinematic and had more going on. Until I see how it handles a similar situation in real time, I'll hold my doubts.

Motorstorm will look a whole lot better after they have implemented the tracks and AI vehicles. I think they should be able to match the E3 vid, but I am not sure about the frame rate. Looks like the game will be pushing a lot of physics (interative mud, interactive environment, the cars themselves :O) Can't wait to see the E3 demo!!!

Looks great. I have to admit I wasn't really impressed by Lair until I saw that interactive demo. It really shows off the detail in the modelling.

you should watch the E3 video again.

Motorstorm looks great. Definitely next gen. It also looks nothing like the E3 trailer. You can refute that, I guess, but people on both ends are clearly showing their fanboy. It does not look like shit, but it does not look like E3 either.

It looks like the "gameplay" part of the E3 video, that's all that matters to me.

I wasn't impressed by Lair until I saw the real time non shiny shot!! Now that kicked ass. Factor 5 FTW

Anyway I think Lair,Motorstorm and R&C looks very impressive.
Motorstom has a lot of potential, that build was clearly very early and it simply isn't a game.
But if they manage to put a lot of vehicles with that detail on screen with even better mud and damage effects, OMG if that wouldn't be amazing.
I hope they deliver games at E3.

So the Ratchet & Clank footage is confirmed realtime? I mean, it doesn't make much sense for them to show CGI at a dev's conference, but it just looks so incredible.

And playing through R&C UYA again, I noticed that some of the cutscenes are indeed rendered, albeit in a style very similar to the in-game visuals.

I just want to be sure.

Whether or not they're able to get the graphics to the level of the E3 trailer, I want to be able to do what they showed in it. Like ramping off a cliff onto a moving car and then riding off it. That's what really got me excited about the game. Being able to shoot through a cabin would be great also.

That Warhawk footage was pretty dull, Factor 5's work on GC dosen't seem that far off compared to this footage, everything else looked great.

The clouds and water alone rape rouge squadron. Lets wait for direct feed footage before passing such remarks

Not a fan of the over glare going on in the Getaway demo. Thats realistic if if you been in a dark room for a long period, like when you come out of a movie theater but to do that constantly is annoying. Maybe realistic effect for a camera but I thought the whole idea is to immerse you into the game so much that you feel like you are really there.

This seemed to be an isolated tech demo for the terrain deformation, not the full build running on a real track. I doubt it'll reach the overall level of detail of the cinematic E3 trailer, but all the same wait until we see the whole enchilada, or at least a more complete demo this May. I just hope the real deal has a comparable cockpit view and vehicle deformation. The buggy model itself looks really good in those close up shots, not far off from the asset used in the original trailer. But I want to see it all mashed up proper like. :D

Speaking of, that car in the desert/bullet demo looked way too fun. Shooting up a vehicle with that level of detail and deformation could be its own mini-game.

They actually implemented a number of optical tricks you'd find in a camcorder (auto-focussing, auto white balance etc.), so as to make it look like you were viewing through a camcorder - that was kind of their intention.

I can understand replicating these harsh camera effects for replays or night vision goggles, otherwise it takes me out of the game.

I agree, though its not surprising given the way developers have already been implementing camera-centric visual effects in 3d games for awhile now...see lens flare and depth of field, for example. I too would really rather see them simulate human eye rather than camera lens more often than not.
