I dunno. I like the Japanese layout more, though. I hate using X for accept, Circle for back. Nor does the Wii U Pro controller layout bother me at all. I prefer it.

I don't know in Japan (I'm not an expert) but in my country O means a ladies' room and triangle means a gents' room. We're still waiting for two other sexes to emerge to utilize X and square.

I never saw someone reply with logic, because by design the PS4 has three feet, and the center of gravity cantilevers the disc slot end. My first thought was vibration [what little there is] but I don't know why. Its cool to me though.

X is used to say something is incorrect while O is used to say something is correct.
Have you seen how Japanese people cross their arms in the X shape when they are trying to say something like "Not allowed" or "Can't let you pass"? Something like that.
Also, IIRC X is called "Batsu" and O is called "Maru".

Man I need to pick up my Japanese classes back, it could be my third language :(

...alternatively an X is used to fill in blanks, which can be circles on multiple choice or forms.
 
Hopefully this has a fix for the fluctuating download speeds. As a digital only person this has been a huge deal, and it is actually pushing me away from wanting to stay a digital only customer. 400KBps during half or more of every download is completely unacceptable.

Yep getting Assassin's Creed Unity downloaded was a massive pain. Not sure if it's a firmware issue or just their network, but I remember the downloads being a lot faster earlier in the year. Weird when even my Wii U (using wireless) blows away my PS4 (wired) at downloading.
 
Anyone tested if Rest mode is fixed?
For 2.02, i have HDMI handshake issue after i switched on Rest mode to download TEW.
 
I've just got an image of the two man Sony Firmware team sat at a table with a Thesaurus looking thorough various words that will get them away from 'Stability' for the patch notes

Stability isn't what these people need. Hell, it's not even what they want. Sony's been trying to placate the users with stability for a century and it hasn't worked, one time!
 
All I want is a filter so I can search what's new in the PSN without rocksmith and little big planet 3 shitting up the list with a billion DLC entries that I have to scroll through. I mean even the red headed step child of the playstation family the Vita does this better by putting new addons in a separate section.

Is this issue the one where you send a message and it reads that you sent that message like 10 mins ago? it never really notifies you when there is a new message until way later?

Thats been happening on my console. I end up just turning off all notifications usually tho.

Oh sweet, they actually added some kind of mp3 support? Now add support for audio CDs and I may actually use my PS4 for things other than gathering dust (even my PS3 gets more use than my PS4, heh).
 
Is anyone getting an issue where the controller is sometimes unresponsive after booting from rest mode after this update? The controller is definitely paired with the console as the controller light is on, but the controller does nothing at all.
 
WARNING: I installed the update, played games, all was good. Started downloading Secret Ponchos, then set it to Rest Mode.

The system seemed to stall for a bit on the shutdown screen. The screen eventually went away, but the system didn't turn off (the light stayed white and pulsing on the system). My Dualshock's light also stayed white.

I had to turn it off by holding down the power button on the front for 15 seconds. After it rebooted, it went into Safe Mode, checked for issues, then told me to power it off properly next time.

I just turned it off (not Rest Mode) and it turned off fine.

Didn't have these problems before (never had the Rest Mode problem last go around when it was affecting a lot of people).

Hopefully this was just an anomaly since I started downloading a game right before I went into Rest Mode or something, but you guys should be wary.
