Yes because she had so much personality before 77
77? What are you talking about?
Yes, compared to this awful teenager Laura, yes she did.
She didn't always bitch about how she hated tombs.

The point is that there is clearly a vast array games out right now and if you don't like a style of game, don't play it.
Follow the leader is hardly anything new to the gaming industry. Remember all the nameless mascots of the 8 and 16 bit era? How about when every game was trying to have open world segments like GTA III? This isn't anything new.
Antichamber is great. It requires you to think a lot.

I usually don't play games I know aren't my cup of tea. I'm giving this a chance because this is the direction an old favorite series is heading. If I don't like it, I'm going to share my complaints.
Sure I do. I agree, it's not anything new. It was shit then, and it's shit now. Always makes me think of...

Just what are you implying?! No really, cheers.
Well...77? What are you talking about?
Yes, compared to this awful teenager Laura, yes she did.
She didn't always bitch about how she hated tombs.
NO.Holy shit. People are still talking about this?
That whole line was to poke fun at the fact that young lara hates tombs but ends up being the tomb raider. Much in the vain of DmC when a white wig/mop falls onto Dante's hair and he says "Not in a million years". It not like the game is a deep inside look into Lara Croft's anti-tomb behavior.
It was a joke...

shut up I need this.
Yup. Now she's a mere shadow of her former self.
I'll miss you Original Lara with two guns a blazin and small shorts and tank top.![]()
From what they've shown this game is incredibly linear, masochistic, and stupidly blatant. This is everything you'd expect in a shooter dominated era of games. Even the basic foundation of the game has been done to death and it's a shame this is where they're choosing to take a series about searching tombs. The gruesome death scenes only add to the fact the writers are obsessed with beating the shit out of Lara. There seems to be nothing inspiring about the gameplay other than seeing just how much brutality she can endure. After brilliant Resident Evil 4 there's not reason to have such a subpar 3PS, in the woods no less.
What?
I'm kinda surprised the gaming press is so quick to regurgitate the Ubi Lara PR... it's like they haven't watched the damn gameplay or they are putting more focus on the forced narrative than the massive moment to moment disconnect of actual gameplay.
I can almost understand it with previews and when the games are still quite a ways out... devs only give you so much to work with, and it's often really narrative-heavy, "This is our characters" type of stuff. The gameplay is rough and early, so you can't really be too negative, it wouldn't be very fair at that stage.
But when the fucking game is gold, and you can play that shit for an hour or more, and in that hour Lara racks up a human kill count to rival CoD protagonists.... fucking say something about it. Do not just puke up their goddamn PR that is inaccurate to anyone with eye balls.
They're just peddling for the devs, it's really quite off putting.
In all past games we just had a vague description of an everyday although well-funded individual, a tragic event, and then bam! Full-blown sociopathy: the basic job requirement for all action heroes.
It's funny when the author writes:
and yet prises the new Tomb Raider game. A game in which Lara becomes a full-blown sociopath who can kill waves of human enemies in various brutal ways within the first hour of the game.![]()
I still would've liked to see Mullet-Roth.
And you know, of all this talk about her development, I just hope the single player has a good length. Not these 10-hour campaigns we always get.

10 hours is a bad length for action adventure titles? I've completed the Uncharted games in less than 6hrs. 10-12hrs sounds like a great length for a game like Tomb Raider IMO.

10 hours isn't a "bad" length but it is the absolute minimum a game like this should be. Especially a game shoehorning all of these popular elements in. The shorter the game is the less chance those mechanics (like skill trees/XP, crafting) will have any sort of depth to them at all. There's a reason why most RPGs, the games this and many other AAA action titles are stealing these elements from, aren't 10-15 hours long.
On the flip side the longer the game is the more you have to balance those elements so you're not overpowered 50% of the way through the game, making the rest too easy and not interesting at all.

If they replaced the character model with nathan drake everybody would love this.

Wow, so Squeenix literally cut this particular SE bonus in half.
Gotta milk the fans who are willing to purchase it. Probably trying to recoup pennies after they realized the preorder numbers are lousy. That preorder bar on the Steam page has been struggling ever since it was introduced.Wow, so Squeenix literally cut this particular SE bonus in half.

This angers me.
I want a full soundtrack.
The third tier was at 58% just a few days ago. As I hypothesised, I believe the entire system is falsified and the rewards will be reached regardless of the number of pre-orders; it's simply a system designed to coax more upfront purchases.
The changes are patently ridiculous. Did somebody assume nobody would notice? Further, did the same or affiliated person come to the conclusion that switching full packages for samples would force a guided hand to purchase "complete" editions? Sorry, Squeenix, but in this day and age, if people feel cheated, they sure won't be looking to you directly for satisfaction.
The only worthwhile pre-order bonuses/CE materials are good soundtracks and artbooks. Everything else feels superfluous. Sigh.
LOL @ you guys trusting square enix
I don't think I could trust buying CE's from guys like Capcom or SE.
