New Yakuza 6 PS4 Screenshots

If I've beaten Yakuza 1 and played most of Y2, then where is it safe to start next? I kind of want to revisit this series, but I don't really remember anything about what I've played, story-wise. I think I already have Y5 via PS+.

I would say 3.... but 2 is just so damn good replaying it would be worth it.

I say 3 is worth it for the
English-speaking villain
, but then again spending time in Okinawa was a bit of a pain.

Virtua Fighter inside Yakuza?
Yakuza is now truly Shenmue.

All yakuza games had arcade games on it. Yakuza 5 has Virtua Fighter 2 even with a 2 player online mode.

Yakuza 5 alone had a total os 31 minigames, from casino games to tradition japanese games, to arcade games, etc.

Is it common to be able to talk to famous JAV idols like this in Japan?

They are webcam models. And it is common here too.
I have talked to alot of western "internet stars" on webcam sites, and dont even had to pay a cent do do it.

That screenshot of the webcam girls actually show a real webcam site url, so probably it will be cuted out in the west, or maybe not as the site has an engish language option.

Virtua Fighter 5 will be FULLY playable in Yakuza 6

WHAT. Final Showdown will be FULLY PLAYABLE!? And at 1080p too? Son of a bitch, that means i didn't have to buy it off PS3 to begin with!

And hopefully this means Virtua FIghter 6..?

That's how they've localized every game since Yakuza 2

That's also how you can tell who actually follows and more importantly plays these games on these boards. Unlike those who just post that they'll support and when push comes to shove they are nowhere to be seen.

Kinda like young people when it comes to federal elections.

I get the feeling since Okinawa is going to feature the orphanage, to get the full effect Yakuza 6 is going for you should probably play Yakuza 3.

I know nothing about Yakuza and only have PS4 and PC. Do I just wait for the prequel?

With your setup just buy Yakuza 0 when that's brought over next year.

Storywise it's the best way to start the series too!

Also the PS4 version which is the only one that is coming over (no localized PS3 version) is 1080p/60fps.

The ideal situation would be starting from Yakuza 4 and then playing 5 if you had a PS3.

But starting from 0 is still a pretty good place, since it's a prequel.
Doubt it. The models used in Yakuza cutscenes have always looked amazing.

For instance, this was on the PS3 in 2012:

PS3, four years ago.

As someone who's currently playing through Yakuza 3 for the first time.

Holy ... Shit.

How did I miss this thread? God those screenshots look absolutely amazing. Yakuza 0 needs to hurry the fuck up so I can get my Yakuza fix already.

Also, one of my most hyped things about these pictures is the new batting center. Loved it in all Yakuza titles, can't wait to see how they have changed it in this one. (the one in Y0 demo with betting real money in yourself was already great)
I really want to play this but can I understand it without playing the older games in the series?
These games usually have self contained stories, but this particular title seems to lean a little bit on players knowledge of Yakuza 5's events (at least the ending bit). Though, I think they'll put some sort of recap or reminder for people who didn't play that title. (they did that with Y3 and Y4)

At any rate, you can start the series with Yakuza 0 that is coming out in January on PS4. It's a prequel to the entire series and has been designed with the mindset of bringing in new fans from eastern Asia to the series and it actually managed to do that.

is it wise to start with the prequel?
As I said above, the prequel was designed to bring in new fans to the series and succeeded to do just that in eastern Asia. (keep in mind that this was their first Yakuza title as well, so the devs took that into consideration when they made the game)

Also in regards to AV idols getting cut from this game if it ever comes to west, I don't think that will happen.

If I'm not mistaken Yakuza 5 and 4 have you collect pin-up pictures of AV idols through batting center and they kept those in localized versions. Yakuza 0 also has collectable clips of AV idols doing whatever and trying to be sexy, and Sega has already confirmed that they are NOT cutting anything from that game which means those will be in localized version as well.

With those in mind, I think this Live Chat thingy of Yakuza 6 will also survive the localization IF we actually get the game.

What if you could just chill at Kazuma's place, dig through his closet, and hook up his Dreamcast and play Shenmue?

Wouldn't that be nifty?

I cannot tell anyone who's played "some" of Y2 to move on without finishing it. I told my friend for about 3 years it had the best ending of any game I had ever played. He didn't believe me despite having thought the game was great up until about ch.13 where he fell off.

A few months ago I convinced him to play it again and when he got to ch. 13 we played through the rest of it in one sitting.

When it was all said and done he said that the ending lived up to three years of hype.

It's fucking magical. There is so much awesome in that final 30 minutes, I think any person even remotely interested in the game should get to that point in context by playing even if you just go through the main story - one of the best experiences I've had in games period.
