re: display setup.

I've got a perfectly good 42" 1080p TV in my living room, situated about 8ft from my sofa. That's good enough for me going into the next gen. I've no reason to upgrade unless it breaks down.

If it does breakdown, would I get a 4K screen? I suspect we'll see more of the Performance vs Visuals settings in games next gen, offering 60fps @ 1080p or 30fps @ 4K. I'll stick with the 1080 if that's the case.

I've never seen the need for a 4K TV unless you're a porn aficionado and fancy a BTW.

It was stupid from Sony to say that the stream will be in 1080p 30fps. No one expected a high quality stream. All of us will watch the 4k version of the trailers later as usual. Now that they said that, many people will find something to complain about.
If they said nothing, haters would come bragging PS5 image quality was crap, totally ignoring YouTube speed rate reduction and staff working from home on limited connections.

people trying to convice themselves 1080p is good enough for games? lol clearly dont game on a big screen TV

with the detail they will be able to put into games nowadays, higher resolution will also be more important to bring those details out

Sorry if off topic but can someone answer this for me, what did the big sega announcement end up being on the 4th last week? Or did they too delay their announcements? Thanks.

So Richard thinks PC is unsuited to 4K gaming and will take a while to catch up. Says 1440p is better for PC.
Many of the games he shows cannot get to a locked 60fps at 4K, including AC Odyssey and Tomb Raider (Shadow of I think)

So are we coming to a point where consoles are more suited to a cinema-like experience with little to no loading as standard and PC is mostly for highly competitive shooters and some games like LOL etc?

I really think while consoles and PC were converging over the past two generations, it is time to diverge a bit now... back towards what console was meant to be again.

What makes you think consoles will be good for 4k/60 this gen if PC's cant right now with beefier GPUs and CPUS?

Easier to optimize or use high quality checker-boarding or interpolation etc. Just a better and more cinematic experience overall. PC is too upright and un-relaxed and loading will still be fairly significant on PC.

I'm talking about the overall experience, that they are diverging a bit. It's not an attack or anything on PC.

That changed in 2017 though. When The Glorious Xbox One X was released all human eyes became capable of discerning True 4K, and from that point forth, resolution mattered more than anything else!
RDR2 on the Xbox One X is a religious experience!!1!
Don't forget they're capable of doing that no matter the distance, and have an instantaneous pixel counter.

I played RE7 in VR and it was awesome.
I was a little let down by the gameplay. I stumbled upon a mansion, but it didn't seem to be anyone home. I waited a couple of hours to see if anyone would arrive, but it never happened.
Maybe next time.

My big brother stared at the open door to the creepy dark house and decided it was at that point he felt motion sick and had to come out of the headset.

If anyone is wondering Jeet was one of the key developers of God of War (2018), I recommend watching the Raising Kratos documentary, really interesting stuff. Anyways, if he is teasing Thursday's event then it means they might show the God of War Sequel, I'll lose my shit if they do! lol
Pretty sure they have a second AAA dev team there now too. Could be the next GoW or a new IP.

Everything you are saying here is just made up and not what the video is saying. The video even talks about using those techniques on PC to great success... and you realize new cards are right around the corner that will stomp on the current cards, which already are overpowered compared to consoles not out for months?

Not trying to attack you either but you just completely invented a narrative around a video where there isn't one.

It's gonna be EXPENSIVE AS HELL to match the next-gen console experience.. but I really doubt there will be any divergence. Maybe on the I/O front, but then again PC CPUs can likely make up the difference there in lack of specialized hardware even.

Thanks guys. So much for re branding xbox for Japan.
To be fair, the story was hyped by American and European journalists. Arcades are still really popular in Japan and the mini gamegear will also be very successful there. However, both things aren't for Europe or America. We simply took the statement from the Japanese journalist ("it will change the gaming industry") and "interpreted it in the West". We immediately thought of a new console with worldwide release, in the end it was just japan exclusive. A country in which sega is still celebrating success with its hardware.

Well, I really wanted each to cut out a more specific vision for themselves... I don't think it serves as many people to have the two overlapping too much.
