It won't be in there in the same place, assuming the frame rates are different, and maybe not in the same frames. But if your framerate doesn't divide into the display refresh rate evenly, tearing is happening. In that screen shot, Xbox will have the least tearing, since it hangs closer to an acceptable rate (30fps). You never want to be running at consistently between 30 and 60, that is going to be tear city (one or the other is preferred).
There's no tearing in that screenshot on PS4.
The red line shows where it is happening on the Xbox One.

So when it comes to an external drive for game storage, would spending extra on it being an SSD only be useful for transferring games to and from? Why not spend way the hell less than $200 on a regular hard drive if it's just going to be storing games?
Its just faster for loads, etc. An external SATA SSD would be the ideal way to store/play older games that don't require the internal SSDs (or the subsequent expansion SSDs, the card on Xbox or an M2 on PS5.)

Thing is you pay almost 2x for 0.5x the size currently. A 2TB HDD is ~ $60 while a 1TB SSD is ~ $110. Hopefully those prices fall.

You'd have to really examine the whole shot. The typical TV (US NTSC) runs at a constant refresh rate of 60 frames per second (or one frame per 16.66ms) and that is steady regardless of what is coming in. If a system is running at 30fps, you won't see tearing the TV just draws the entire frame twice before moving to the next frame. At 38fps you are taking 23.6ms per frame. In this case the TV runs 1 frame just fine, however, unlike the 30ftp system, the TV doesn't draw the identical frame twice. It draws the same image for the first 6.94ms and then finishes with a new image that is ready (the 30fps is running slower and doesn't finish its next frame until the start of the 3rd frame). This second image is now built from parts of two different frames, if movement happens in that frame you'll get some tearing. Depending on frame timing and the amount of movement that is happening, it may be near impossible to see. The Xbox in shot also has a tearing issue because it is not sticking the 30fps, so at times the TV needs to draw across 3 frames before the system is ready to return the next frame.

I don't think it really matters if there are other next gen racers at launch. If the game looks poor than that's the way it is. Dirt 5 doesn't look good on the XSX and I'm sure it will look worse on the PS5. It's not like we can say that Bugsnax looks amazing because it's the only game of it's type at the PS5s launch.

TBH, who needs a bloodborne patch or have Halo infinite when this game exists??

Let me help you with some non 720p resolution there

Also there are from an event in early June, that was put back from the start of june. Build has to be from May latest possibly earlier.

Its been 5 or so months now since that build its bound to improve even further, this dirt game is 1 month from release.

GT7 does not have a confirmed release date yet does it?

Only screen tears on the Xbox One version (adaptive v-sync).

Interesting, I didn't know they were using adaptive v-sync on the consoles. LOL

I guess it was a necessity with how low frame rates were getting on the X1 there. I'll say I don't like v-sync when used in a situation like this is showing for PS4 either. The game is jumping between 60 and 30fps like a yoyo, so while the v-sync will stop the tearing, the game will still be jittery as hell. V-sync is best used when you choose settings that are going to lock you into one framerate (30 or 60).

i would be very careful if i was you, mentioning the mere word volcano around here.

There are certain posters that get really upset about mentioning anything heat-related on the forums.

Its a reportable and bannable offense for people like O Orky . I suggest your edit your post before he sees it. "lollipop_disappointed:

It's nice to see some actual XSX footage; still kind of bizarre how sparse it is so soon from launch.

But what I saw today looks fine to me.. not enough to make me worry something is wrong... also not shocked to see some quick resume bugs out in the wild. The Xbox One OS was buggy as shit at launch too lol

Yeah I think it looks good enough for me to enjoy the heck out of it!

I don't have a 120hz display so how it looks in that mode is not my concern. I probably will run it in the image quality mode unless I notice it plays a lot better in the other mode or do what I've done in the past, play image quality first then after some time switch over, then I've seen the nice stuff as well.

Wondering when it will release tho. Ah well might just pick up the PS4 version and not play it and wait until I get my PS5 but I wanna know first what the price will be in the PS store, we should know next week

I would easily spot screen tearing if it ever happened, but I swear that I don't remember seeing it while gaming in my life. I read about it and heard about it before and had to go to youtube to see what's all this is about, and why PC gamers are into Freesync and G-Sync stuff and VRR.

I think that's why nearly all PS fans don't understand what's the big deal with VRR in HDMI 2.1.

You will only notice it if you're playing something fast paced with meaningful screen rotation. Normally you can spot it right away on pc if using a mouse, allowing very fast lateral camera movement. On those racing games you'll notice it mostly when doing a fast corner.
This is resolved with vsync (or some other such technique). In general, if you're running a refresh rate above the max refresh rate your screen can take, this will cause screen tearing. Basically, what should happen to 99.9% of the people trying to play at 120fps in 60hz tvs :messenger_winking:

One of the downsides of vsync techniques is that you get some additional input lag. In competitive fps you'll most likely trade some tearing for lower input lag as your brain will compensate for it if you're lucky / used to it. But yeah, for some chill console experience you don't want screen tearing like this in any way.

One thing to mention about PS Now and PS3 games is that the PS3 racks that they have can't continue running forever. At some point that hardware is going to start to die, and I wonder when those rack units were made between (I can't imagine they are still making them now). So PS3 emulation as a way of continuing their ability to provide PS3 games on PS Now makes perfect sense if they can perfect it on a game by game basis.

Exactly, it's why I believe they are doing what I described, start using their own PS3 emulator and allow us to download them besides streaming. Much easier to control what is being played and they can assure an excellent experience!

They might do the same for PS1 and PS2 games...

Ok guys, after those dirty graphics we've seen previously, I forgot that I didn't make GT7 screenshots. Here are some high-quality, PNG, 4K screenshots I've made from the official trailer. Dynamic 4K@60fps done right, and also has heavy raytracing usage. Probably Sony's new AI image reconstruction is making some magic here, it's simply crazy. Put in mind that this is a pre-alpha build, things will get even better.

Cleanse your eyes, people!

What is real life? Give me my fucking PS5! Sony has shown us the best gaming graphics so far!

Sony is showing some real-life camera effects, like emulating shutter speed effects, focal length bokeh, and some other deficiencies like lens distortion. I love them!

No idea. Ask codies why they're currently not offering this feature (although the rep did say they'd let people know if that plan changed - so maybe it will, who knows?).

Would it be a different kind of save file format? Only reason a non techy like me could think of.

Have you only tried more sim style racing or some of the crazy ones? I don't really use the Forzas or the GTs, but I have put a lot of hours into some of the crazy driving games like FlatOut or Twisted Metal.

i think i said this before somewhere down the line, if i was to pick one of the big game franchises i would probably go with forza, Grand Turismo looks to simulated to me, like proper driving, i am in it for the cheap thrills and the pace.

To me and i could be wrong here but Forza looks more arcade to me, and if i was a car racer fan i would of bought an xbox for it.

And yes, i just had a look at flatout, i played that at a friends house like 7 years ago, i think it was on ps4 it was really really fun. i totally forget about that game.

FlatOut 4 was a bit buggered by the devs, but still fun. FlatOut 2 was perfection in the genre though, IMO.

Difficult to say. It might be something about the format of the underlying data and data structures that requires effort to convert but to me that's a relatively simple programming task.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was something to do with save file encryption on PS4 for a particular install on a particular account, and just moving the file to the PS5 isn't enough - there's a "dance" to do and they don't want to invest the time.
