Yes, Jason David is worse than throwing at a hole in the zone. Fred Thomas gave up 9.3 yards per pass last year. Egads. I guess not every player is meant to play in every defensive scheme.

Also, that Saints D was so bad that when they got on the field I couldn't watch it. I literally had pains in my chest and couldn't stomach watching them play on D. It was that bad. It wasn't like now, where at least they give some effort. No. They would be like a personal escort service to the endzone on every long pass and Brees had to put up 30+ points per game just to be competitive. Didn't matter how bad the other offense was, they would just torch us all day every game. I don't care how bad the Texans defense was, it wasn't that bad.

man I kind of want to watch some of those Texans games and see how bad a defense could be with stats like that. If it was worse than the Saints in 07, it is really something truly special to behold. Are there any videos of this majesty in action?

Texans gave up...
30+ pts 8 times last season.
24+ pts 15 times last season.

The only game they didn't? It was a shut out...

But, they were facing the Titans, and their 3rd string QB who had a total of 9 career passes going into the game (which he accumulated the week before against Washington), and to this day has not played again.


Also, I'm starting to remember why the term "fumblesack" was brought up so often last year...

The worst thing about the loss is that I still can't hate the Bills, especially Fitzpatrick. At least not as much as our Defense. And Brady's new haircut better means something.
 
The Saints seem to work backwards. they give up all kinds of points at the beginning, then they tighten up, make adjustments and shut teams down. It kind of makes me wonder why they didn't just come out and play like that in the first place.
 
Not that Brady cut his hair, we can win Super Bowls again.

Uggman will redeem himself.

Or we will crash and burn like the Red Sox if we manage to lose to the Raidahs, I'm buying the copyright for "The Boston Breakdown"

Patriots no question. The fact that 'defensive mastermind' Bill Belichick can't scheme up a way to be more effective on D is pretty damning. I'm surprised it's not getting more attention than it has.

Yeah, it's been painful to watch the Patriots' defense for years. Whenever the offense runs into problems, you just know there's almost no hope. I wanted to quit watching the Bills game at around halftime...

I think it was more of a "thank you" contract. The Colts could have gotten out of the contract if they wanted to. Whether or not you think that's smart, well....

As far as the Pat's defense goes, I think the next two games against Oakland and the Jets will be the most telling. I wouldn't call either of those teams "offensive powerhouses".

With a 10-3 lead in the second quarter, the Steelers had the ball at the Indianapolis 42. The called play was a draw to Mendenhall “with a pass option,” according to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

“I saw something with Mike [Wallace],” Roethlisberger explained.

“I knew I didn’t have time to really set too long and throw it, but I thought I had enough time to get a quick pump. We actually had a touchdown. But I probably held on to it.”

And Dwight Freeney crashed down on Roethlisberger to force a fumble that was picked up for a Colts touchdown.

If it had been thrown for a Steelers touchdown, it likely would’ve been called back because guard Chris Kemoeatu was downfield blocking for the Mendenhall draw. Kemoeatu never heard the audible, if there was one called.

The OLINE is playing better this year than they were last year. Not that they are good, they aren't but they are not as horrible as they were last season. Still Vick is getting hit even more now and I think the reason is because they have been telling him to stay in the pocket. The problem with that is that he isn't Tom Brady or Manning and it takes him longer to find the open guy and then get the ball out. On top of that he is short so for him to see the field properly he has to move around. My theory is that he should be moved around more and should be allowed to take off more. He gets hurt more standing in the pocket and getting hit even after he throws as defensive linemen are closing in on him.

When he is outside the pocket moving around he sees the field better, sees the defenders chasing him better, and is more likely to make more plays scrambling. Forcing him to stay in the pocket doesn't work. Those first 6 games last year when he was extremely effective, he was still moving around as much as he used to in ATL, only that when he moved out of the pocket he would look to pass down the field before taking off.
