if you saw this game completely without any context then you could see why someone might be offended.
If you don't know that this is about a zombie infection plot line, and if you did see this in passing then you could almost certainly think this game was on very thin ice : if does look like a huge crowds of local native Africans chasing down a white man armed with a gun whilst they throw various primitive weapons at him.
In context, WE know it's a bunch of zombies infected with the <insert virus here>, by dastardly corporation Umbrella. So , yes, IN THAT CONTEXT, it's not particularly offensive. But i can see this being picked up wrongly by someone who does just casually see it in passing.
The controversy around this game is only just starting - after the "it's like LUKE SKYWALKER meets DEBBIE DOES DALLAS" informed take on Mass Effect, you know this is going to get hell....
Actually, from CNN and co. it probably won't... unless the white boy has sex with someone. heh, I doubt they'd miss an opportunity to demonise video gaming again - the smell of fear of interactive entertainment from the Broadcast Media sector is rising.
