Right. But you were talking about Luongo's performance and how it should affect his modesty. Stop being so damned confused, brother.Sanjuro Tsubaki said:I would say it's more foolish thinking on your end.
So basically I should factor the goalie like there are no skaters on the ice? I should call a 1-0 pitching duel, 94-95 basketball game, or a 3-6 football game a blowout now? No. All of those are examples of a team scraping by for a victory. I shouldn't have to even describe this.
Token award still if it happens, but I find it funny that everyone was flaming me when I suggested he would still win the award even during a Bruins finals loss.X26 said:That's the bright side of a nucks win, thomas will still get the conn smythe and it makes luongo look bad as a result of continuing his trend of achieving success solely through coattail riding
I added that to the post you quoted. It still shouldn't matter.Socreges said:Right. But you were talking about Luongo's performance and how it should affect his modesty. Stop being so damned confused, brother.

No one flamed you, wounded princess. That was before Luongo got shelled 8-1 and 4-0. I guess you're some kind of clairvoyant.Sanjuro Tsubaki said:Token award still if it happens, but I find it funny that everyone was flaming me when I suggested he would still win the award even during a Bruins finals loss.

Its Tim Thomas Conn Smythe Trophy, win or lose (as I said last night, I'm not 100% sold on this, but just like with the Vezina it seems like everyone in the media already is)X26 said:That's the bright side of a nucks win, thomas will still get the conn smythe and it makes luongo look bad as a result of continuing his trend of achieving success solely through coattail riding

You flatter me!Sanjuro Tsubaki said:Socreges, you are clearly the strongest and smartest person from Vancouver. Worthy of replacing a Sedin on that front line. Obviously I'm just a poor product from Colorado Stanley Cup goo.
Win or Lose, he has produced possibly the most impressive complete year that a goaltender ever has. Doing this all the while Sports Hub fucktards would pretend to understand hockey and tell me how much better Rask is.vatstep said:Its Tim Thomas Conn Smythe Trophy, win or lose (as I said last night, I'm not 100% sold on this, but just like with the Vezina it seems like everyone in the media already is)
Anyway, I'm watching the real battle between the US and Canada right now (Sox vs. Jays) and we are just pummeling everything in our path. Even Varitek with a three-run jack. :lol

If he makes 37 more saves (possible in Game 6, guaranteed if there's a Game 7), he will set the all-time record for most saves in a playoff run. Kirk McLean holds that record, oddly enough, and he might've won the Conn Smythe that year if Leetch wasn't just fucking INSANE.Sanjuro Tsubaki said:Win or Lose, he has produced possibly the most impressive complete year that a goaltender ever has. Awesome. I hope I get to experience the same - maybe appreciate it a bit more given my age, the years of suffering playoff losses, and the ability to celebrate downtown with everyone.X26 said:old enough I'd say

Alas! If the Canucks do win (and they haven't yet), while they may be the most recent Champions, I won't have those multiple Cups won when I wasn't even alive. So what's the point!

vatstep said:You can't really appreciate success in sports as a kid. It's fun, sure, but I think it just means so much more as an adult that's a true die-hard. And these days, we as fans have the ability to get so much closer and more familiar with the players and the team we can watch hours/days of coverage on the NHL/MLB/NFL/NBA network, we can read near-countless articles on the internet (instead of just in local newspapers), fuck, we can even follow our favorite players on Twitter. We have the ability to get so absorbed in this stuff that it's almost disturbing to me at times. I fucking love it, though.
In a way, part of me is looking forward to the SCF being over. I've been constantly distracted at work and at home by reading about hockey and reading this thread. It's an illness. Half of my evenings are completely absorbed with hockey and drinking. That works OK on weekends, but when I'm going to pubs on week nights and then working the next day... it's rough. Win/lose, it's been incredible. But it's consumed so much of my life over the last while - it'll be nice to get that time back.vatstep said:You can't really appreciate success in sports as a kid. I completely agree. My hobbies and other personal time have really taken a back seat; I always watch as much playoff hockey as I can, but it's never been this engaging. Also I'm pretty damn sure it has taken a toll on my health, as extreme as that may sound. I've never been through anything like this as a fan, with the MLB and NFL playoffs lasting only half as long even when your team goes all the way. This is really the first time that I've ever wanted hockey to be over with; I just need a fucking break!Socreges said:In a way, part of me is looking forward to the SCF being over. That was amazing. Really well done. Love the "c'mere" wag of the finger at the end, I can see that getting a lot of use as a gifSocreges said:My name is Johnny Canuck
Most of the fan videos that I've seen have been pretty lame, but I loved this one. Lots of little touches. I think even some haters might like it, despite themselves.
Yeah, I was just about to comment on this. Great idea and it will go a long way in ensuring the unique feel of those games. It seemed like the NHL was just piling on for the sake of over the past few years, I'm glad they're scaling it back.vatstep said:No Heritage Classic next season. Probably a good idea. And Dastardly, you can't tell me that last night didn't swing you a bit further away from the Ducks towards the Canucks. Has the Anaheim team ever provided you with such a memory/experience?

Eh, Higgins is a complete non-factor. I bet a lot of people don't even remember he was a Hab. In fact, I think this is the longest I've ever spent thinking of him. Lapierre, yeah, but only because he's a douche and has proven that he'll never grow up.NetMapel said:
This guy is really sensitive, huh? A gold medal and one win away from a Stanley Cup, and he still needs coddling, apparently. Opponents should try to stray from criticizing each other, of course, but I see no reason why they would need to throwing out compliments to one another in the middle of a series. Just seems like a weird thing to say.I said also that he might make some saves that I dont, so Im just saying on that particular play I wouldve played it different and thats the difference between me and him, said Luongo, trying to speak over hundreds of fans chanting Luongo, Luongo! at Vancouver International Airport. Ive been pumping his tires ever since the series started. I havent heard any one nice thing hes had to say about me, so thats the way it is.
Who gives a shit? You should send off that quote to NBC so they can try to drum up some more falsified outcry in an attempt to garner sympathy for your team. Oh no, he bit him through a glove, how is he not suspended from the sport of hockey for the next DECADE?!vatstep said:Anyway, everyone ready for the latest edition of Classlessness-gate?

I agree with you, however you are acting like in Canada those "bulletin board" quote's are simply ignored when in fact they are magnified by a large margin.Mike Works said:Who gives a shit? Don't worry, I'm sure NBC is already in possession of the quote. For the record, I really don't care I'm not offended by what he said or anything like that, although the Boston sports people I follow on Twitter sure do seem to be. I just thought it was a weird thing to say. The whole "classlessness" thing is just a joke at this point.Mike Works said:Who gives a shit?
