NHL 11 Trailer

2 new players types for NHL 11:

2-way Forward
2-way Defenseman

New Attributes:
-Hand Eye Boost
-Fighting Skill
-Offensive and Defensive Awareness
-Stick Checking

I'm actually a fan of those new types. I could never decide if Doughty and Johnson were OFD or DFD. Now I can make them the appropriate type.

Offensive and defensive awareness have been in the game for years, though.

I'm probably going to use two-way forward.

They were in the game but they've never been adjustable for Be A Pro characters.

According to this months Game Informer Magazine Review of NHL 11, there are 7 rounds in the draft. You play in the memorial cup to build up your draft status and if you can get passed over several rounds if you dont do well. It also states they have worked on the trade logic as well as adding 5 player per team trades. Also, RFAs and offer sheets are in the game It also says to expect alot more movement in the minor league level. It also states that the preseason demo will be available in Mid August for Ultimate Hockey League.
Sounds awesome. :D

LOl so they finally made the endurance attribute worthwhile in EASHL? Am I missing something? :lol

I take it there are no line changes still since it's still 6v6...

Yeah, endurance and durability both factor in now.

No line changes though.

I bought 2K10 last year (on Wii, because I roll like that), so I guess this year it's time to go to the EA side? Eh, I've not been too fond of the EA games this gen, but that's because I prefer the arcade style of hockey rather than a sim.

Sweet, source?
I've seen it several places online from EA sources. There's also a live chat tomorrow that will be discussing the demo and a few other things.

I'd love it if they surprised everyone and released the demo right after the chat though. :lol

Those live chats are awful, it's like watching EA staff talk to each other.

EASHL practice wasn't in last year either right?

I'm going to waste all of my money in ultimate team, I can feel it.
Not me. I bought some of the boosts that were absurdly difficult to unlock. No way I'm spending any money to unlock things this year.

I don't want to buy player equipment boosts, in ultimate team you just buy card packs. I played ultimate team on madden at my friends place and bought two gold card packs and got gold stadium cards. :lol

I probably won't even buy those. I don't have a lot of interest in the Ultimate Team mode. I'd much rather have an online dynasty mode.

I'd play EASHL but I have a ps3 so naturally the team will last about a week for GAF.

Hopefully the demo releases when they say it does. This will stop the EA forums from bitching when the demo is later for one system.

Damnit, missed out on the chat!

I am not buying anything aside from the game, I'll just earn my shit through Ultimate team and GAF games.

You're lucky. As always, it was an hour of almost nothing. :lol

UPDATE: Here are some ways you can earn some free HUT packs through the demo. 1) Play the demo. 2) Win the HUT tourney in the demo 3) Invite a friend to the NHL11 demo. To be clear, you will NOT earn 2 packs if you play the demo and win the HUT tourney. You will either get 1 free pack for playing the demo, or 1 free pack for winning the tourney. So when you play the demo, you have an opportunity to get 2 free packs for your actual HUT team in NHL 11.

hmm...well I guess I'm playing this all day tomorrow morning

Oh man, that video with the retro jerseys... You see how bad their animation team is.. It's pretty disgusting... Faceoff animation is REALLY stiff and just doesn't look right at all, and check out the goalie as he scoots over on the bench, his left arm is grabbing.... nothing? and pushing over to the side. GG EA Sports!

Wouldn't be an EA game if it didn't have a bunch of broken stuff.

The game is pretty good and I'll surely be hooked on Ultimate Team. But the commentary is as atrocious as ever. I don't understand why they can't just add a few lines of dialog per year. I'm hearing the same old phrases over and over.

Played 5 games this morning.

1. They got rid of Magna-checking. Thanks GOD!!! The physics system with hitting is amazing.
2. You now pass on release on the trigger, rather than press. Its a lot better in that you can better control the speed of the passes.
3. Puck physics, specifically around the net and off the goalie are far more realistic as are the goalie reactions.
4. I tried some cross crease and couldn't score (which is good).
5. Everything from skating and such feels more "weighty" (which is good)
6. Haven't had a broken stick yet, nor really gotten into the faceoff system.
7. Fights last longer as everyone has more stamina and a longer health bar.
8. They finally show when the computer is changing lines and which lines are on the ice. (very awesome).
9. The hustle system is very cool and doesn't break the game.
10. There is definitely a bigger difference between faster and slower skaters.
