I'm surprised, as well. Downie established his shitheadedness pretty early in his career when he decked McAmmond when he was a Flyer.
My favourite (read: nope) incident was when he sucker punched Jason Blake right in the eye. His eye swelled up in minutes.
Looking at the current draft rankings, Habs should be able to land Grigorenko or Galchenyuk, unless they go on some stupid winning streak near the end. Hopefully Gauthier / new GM guy attempts to trade up if possible to get Grigorenko, he's exactly what we need.
Just get the 3rd overall and hope that Edmonton doesn't take him, they have too many damn forwards.

It was so nice to see the flyers fight back and get a win last night. I think they should consider giving the C to Simmonds. There was a shot of him on the bench and it looked like he was trying to fire guys up. Bryz didnt play well but he did make a few big saves, and that was a really hostile environment for him. His biggest problem now seems to be that he tries to make every save a 10, instead of just using his blocker to knock down a shot he will try to snatch it with his glove hand. The coaches need to work with him to just make everything simple. The Flyers score enough tat they dont need him to make all these crazy spectacular saves, they just need him to stop the easy ones. I thought that the D looked better last night, it was hard to tell though with the O dominating so much.

He's cleaned up his act A LOT. He still takes his fair share of stupid penalties, but he's not really a dirty player anymore. Unfortunately people don't like to let his past reputation go away easily.

Edit: When wikipedia has its own section about times when he was suspended it doesn't make him seem so clean...

He's definitely still undisciplined. That was really the only thing I didn't like about his current game. He takes dumb penalties at the stupidest times.

So much for avs making the playoffs. :/ Their current roster is skilled enough in taking stupid penalties.
Saw some solid passes out of the zone by the d they don't normally make. Bryz was indeed terrible. His glove was ok tonight but he wanted to stop them all with his glove, even on his blocker side lol...
On simmonds: I love his game, I'm just not sure if hes a leader in the locker room. I'd love to see them name a cpt.
On downie: I dislike him but I think he'll give the av's a positive boost. Hes annoying, hits a lot, and brings grit that teams can't have enough of.
I think bryz is running himself out of town with all of this media talk. Yeah hes being sarcastic but you don't say that to people paying big money for tickets to watch him be the worst goaltender to wear a flyers sweater, which is EXTREMELY hard to do.
It's only going to get worse if he doesn't step it up. The booing, the media, and eventually and hopefully, he gets run out of town.

Where is he going though? With that contract, his attitude and his play, he's virtually un-tradable. Unless it's an amnesty buy out in the new CBA, because he's got an NMC which means you can't bury him in the minors.
Bertuzzi signs an extension with the Wings. Apparently around 2 mil per year.
Also want to throw out this odd dream I had last night:
A guy from Winnipeg kept trying to intentionally hit me on the street, he chased me down to a cliff where I had no choice but to jump. I luckily grabbed on to a ledge but he was not as fortunate as he drove his car right off the edge and fell to his death.
