Ninja Gaiden 2 GDC images and trailer

I'm sorry, but even as a Sony fan, I've got to admit NG2 looks way better than DMC4, and it's also faster. Plus there's dismemberment. Also, the scale seems to be bigger in NG2 judging from this level shown.

You can spout off all the technical jargon you wish, but from what I've played and seen of DMC4 compared to that video of NG2, in my opinion NG2 looks much better.
That's fine, opinions are opinions.

It has nothing to do with being a "Sony fan". It's about Capcom's awesome engine versus everything Team Ninja has done this generation (all a disappointment, visually, which only bothers me because they were so awesome last gen).

HOOOOLY SHIT @ that nunchaku combo!

CONSECUTIVE FLYING SWALLOWS?

NINJA DASHING BEHIND ENEMIES?

Personally, Capcom's awesome engine sucks for me. It looks magnificient in HD, but none of that visual jazz comes across on my 8" SDTV. If NG2 can look good (maybe not as good as DMC4 on HD) in SD, I'll be more than happy.

Edit: Err... guys- you all are away that the whole giant flaming demon isn't exactly a concept that originated with Berial, right? :lol

wat:lol

I personally find the modern NG series to be very ugly. Everything looks like shiny plastic and the bizarre S&M ninja design is severely off putting.

I played DMC4 for 60 hours and still playing it and even without all that next gen stuff that some people love here, this new stage from NGII looks better than anything from DMC4.

Anyway, stop fighting and enjoy the games, DMC4 is awesome and NGII will be.

Err, what?

In this case, something like NG2 probably WOULD look worse on an SDTV as it uses older rendering techniques. DOA4 and Sigma, for instance, look like high-end XBOX games on an SDTV. Lighting and shadow can come across beautifully in SD.

WTF?

the spead is about the gameplay..., DMC does not Have the same Gameplay style as NG, none of them. Even Ninja Gaiden was faster than Devil mayCry 4, its not like Capcom COULD"NT make it faster.

and WTF#2: DMC4 is Multiplatform...

DMC4 isn't a bad game. But we know it won't be as good as Gaiden 2.

I look forward to watching saved film videos from people on my list which are very good at the game. I love the Gaiden games from the NES versions onward, and have put a good 100 hours into the Xbox version, but I guarantee I won't be able to pull all all the cool stuff I'll see from others.

Looks very sterile! like some old 1995 PSone CG intos , i mean c'mon ! this is just utter laziness , they're not even trying to make the game look good .

DMC4 has better lighting..and thats it.
In its current state (with 3 more months of polish to go), NG2 looks better. Just deal with it.
How anyone can say otherwise after seeing that incredible video is beyond me.

Amen, two awsome action games released within 6 months.
Fine by me.

In fact, chances are good that I will prefer NG2 to DMC4. I simply wish they had taken a few more leaps foward with their tech. That's really where the whole argument stems from.

For those complaining about the tech: NINJA GAIDEN 2 FEATURES A REPLAY SAVE FEATURE LIKE HALO 3

http://kotaku.com/358772/ninja-gaiden-ii-coming-in-june-arrives-with-recording-feature

"Like Halo 3 and Skate, Ninja Gaiden II owners will be able to record their ninjitsu performances directly to the Xbox 360 hard drive, then upload them for the community to watch. We simply can't wait to watch expert level performances and the obligatory upskirts that will soon follow."

I think the art is indeed bad, but you don't have to be sexually insecure about it.

I'm really looking forward to this, of course, but I must admit that I would love to see Team Ninja update their tech somewhat. Devil May Cry 4 looks a whole lot more impressive than Gaiden 2.

Still, it looks good enough for what it is and we all know the game will rock.

But at least it doesn't look like it plays like shit. Which is something DMC4 can't say.

The only problem is see is that the camera appears to have gotten worse.

Well, that sucks. :lol

(I wasn't saying above that NG2 will look better, just that DMC4 doesn't really look that great for me. For comparisions sake, Gears of War and Halo 3 look much better than DMC4 in SD, despite DMC4 looking way better in HD)

And, yes, I really ought to get around to getting a new TV. :lol

Only took 7 post for a moron to come in and do the DMC4 comparison.

so let's talk about the new consecutive flying swallow.

exactly what is itagaki thinking?
The flying swallow is a crutch that lets the weak hobble through normal mode and feel good about themselves. Multiple flying swallows just means they'll hobble faster.

I love how crazy skeleton (and female, I now realize) monster manages to still have massive tits. Only Team Ninja.

You under estimate just how demanding lighting is, though. Again, if you disable dynamic shadows and HDR lighting in Crysis, you're going to be getting 60 fps (and the game looks a whole lot worse)...but the second you crank that stuff up, you might drop down into the twenties.

Of course, I believe that Team Ninja probably could not have pulled off NG2 with such large areas at 60 fps if they had taken that route. I'd much prefer a basic lighting model at 60 fps over something like Heavenly Sword (which was similar to DMC4 in that regard, but ran at a very poor framerate).

But at least it doesn't look like it plays like shit. Which is something DMC4 can't say.
As I said, I think I will enjoy NG2 more...but to suggest that DMC4 plays like shit is crazy talk.

bullshit. flying swallow is very often the most effective way to meet the time targets that determine your score. that move needs to be balanced, not tripled

it may be cheap but it is legit way to defeat some of the bosses (Alma for me)

i am just hoping there will be a way for the enemies to block/counter the 2nd and 3rd flying swallow slash.

if you can remember, some enemies blocked/countered flying swallow like the Hell knights or the white vigoor soldiers with the bazookas.

Flying swallow gets blocked by basically every monster on every difficulty above normal. I, like everyone else, fell in love with the powerful flying swallow when I beat Ninja Gaiden for the first time on normal. And then I quickly stopped using it after getting owned badly on hard.

I understand now.

i agree with you for the most part

Man o man, just had a chance to watch the full trailer from Live on my 52in Plasma 1080p, and this thing is epic Ninjaness like no other. Epic does not fully describe what this trailer entails however. The game is going to be nothing but FUN and a good deal of ninja- throwing against-the-wall controller action.

Day 1 doesn't even begin to describe this. Best GDC ever.

Doesn't look as graphically impressive as DMC4 but it is still 4 months away, so we can all complain then.

They need to get the DOAX2 engine running at 60fps.
