It's quite possible we could get the Raccoon, and not the Tanooki Suit, or the Tanooki Suit, and not the Raccoon.

Personally, if I had to choose, I'd go with the Tanooki Suit. But unless they have ideas for the statue transformation as a 3D Mario gameplay mechanic, they'd probably go with the Raccoon, which was part of their marketing for SMB3 and was thus more iconic.

at the conference, when Iwata shown the incomplete logo, he gave special attention to the tail on the logo.
