I own most of the quality games on sale, yet I'm still able to recognise that there are other people who don't, whether they missed out on them in the past or just picked up a WiiU the past few months. Looking past one's own reflection is hard, I know.

They don't have to, but if they want my money, they have to compete with the sales sony (/microsoft?) are putting on.
The Nintendo european sale was just a stark reminder of why I don't even bother checking when nintendo has a "sale" on, while I have bought at least one game in virtually every big sale from sony this year.
And just to avoid any possible confusion, no, I'm not buying them at at full price, I'm just not buying digital titles on nintedo. It sucks, because I'd like to, but it's a suckers game. (In fact, tahnks to the handy dandy DDP summary, I can tell the only digital things I've bought on wiiu are the mario kart and hyrule warriors DLC packs)

Okay, so after all that: some great 3DS deals (and the KORG synthesizers are on sale again!), but nothing I really want on the Wii U side. Man, if the Deluxe Digital Promotion had applied to 3DS purchases as well, I'd be raking in the money. Poor Wii U.

Wait what the fuck is the point of this thread? "I was expecting a Christmas sale and Nintendo failed me" sounds like a more apt title. There is no sale nor was there any promise of a sale, so what exactly are you faulting them for?
Oh. I stopped reading the OP after it seemed like just a general eshop update, but yea, it does mention sales near the bottom. Still though, that's a pretty misleading title, making it seem more like they claim there's a sale yet all the games are the same prices.

There is a sale. Something like 50 games discounted in North America. Just that none of them are Nintendo-published. And for some reason that's cause for drama again.

There are differences. Because the GBC resolution was small, in both SMB and SMB 2 (JPN) you could look up and down further with the Dpad. This also meant you could go back a little bit. In SMB 2 (JPN) the worlds 9-D are not in the game , as well as the wind physics and other graphical improvements.. Glitches like - world are removed.
However, stuff that is added:
- A huge challenge mode that adds three challenges per level (high score, Yoshi egg collectible and red coin challenge)
- Boo VS Mode which adds 8 new levels that you race against Boo in
- A VS. Mode (not compatible in Wii u version) - it was a mutiplayer race mode
- Badges and stickers that re collectibles (if you had the GBC printer you could print them out)
- badges were achievements in the game (like defeat this Bowser with fireballs, etc.)
- Other miscellaneous like fortune Teller, Calendar, etc.
- A world map
- High scores records
It was my first Mario game, I spent hundreds of hours on it. I love it to bits, despite its downsides.
I don't really mind the lack of sales but I was hoping for the DKC trilogy to show up before 2015. I'm still kinda holding out to see if they'll have any sales though since I want to spend my eShop money before DDP expires. But they've been having sales on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I think.

I'm on Team Top Hat. I understand he comes across as a bit brusque at times in his critique of NOA, but the guy is a really terrific and kind person and he genuinely means well. He made a thread months ago about a CN mishap and people utterly destroyed him for it and it turned out NOA had no real issue with him. Regardless of that, he is ridiculously passionate about Nintendo and keeps coming back to GAF because he feels a groundswell of support for certain actions for NOA will get through to them, and I think that's not unreasonable and idealistic at worst.
This is someone in short who has all the love in the world for Nintendo that any of us do and just wants them to do even better as he knows they can. He's met Miyamoto and I've seen a picture of this historic event and I have almost never seen anyone happier. He is a true fan of Nintendo and absolutely adores their games. I think he probably owns all of the games that would go on sale anyway, so this is more about principle for him than anything else. He truly believes sales would help Nintendo and wants them to do everything they can to succeed. If Nintendo ever goes under, no one will be any more upset than TTH.
I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting sales on Christmas. Nintendo would not discourage you to celebrate Christmas by buying their games.

You don't get it. That's not the problem. The problem is you're obsessed with it. You can't go half a day without taking some snarky shot at NOA specifically. Nobody is trying to silence criticism. You're just being extremely obnoxious about it. Which, as far as I know, is what got you vacation the last time and seemingly nothing has been learned since.

I'd love some of there's games on sale, but I feel things like steam have kinda cheapened some peoples perception of games. Heck I've fallen for it on steam. Why pay for a full game when I can put it on my wish is and wait for a seasonal sale.
I just do what I usually do, save up my money and pay for it. Usually the games Nintendo has at full price are worth that.
