Summary?
They showed some cool stuff (awesome MO trailer, cool Xenoblade 2 one, Project Octopath Traveler demo up, Bethesda stuff if you care about Bethesda) but no noteworthy reveals or surprised from Nintendo.

In contrast to a lot of posts on here, Xenoblade actually looked amazing to me, instabuy when it releases.
Did I miss something big? What happened to cause Xenoblade 2 to develop a hatedom?
Like maybe I could understand the "Xenoblade is boring" crowd from the first one and X, but I don't know what's caused all this hyperbole to crop up about Xenoblade 2.
It's the generic anime art style for most. And, for me in particular, the sexualized Pyra design.Did I miss something big? What happened to cause Xenoblade 2 to develop a hatedom?

I expect absolutely nothing.
No virtual console, no "good and interesting" announcements. Just the usual "this is coming and this is coming and this is already out for a week but you already know that, oh and here 2 new amiibos as peek of this Direct.

the 3ds is going to somehow keep trucking with even more new titles (minecraft, mario party: the top 100), and the switch is having the best first year since initial launch for any platform ever (xenoblade confirmed dec 1, doom, la noire being new announcements), and momentum into 2018 with dq builders, wolfenstein ii, kirby: star allies, etc.
No new game announcements (don't @ me - ports of old stuff or pseudo-indies aren't new games ^_^)
We're getting arcade releases, at least it's not nothing!Oh and Virtual Console is now officially dead.
But also underlines a great and even worst than expected lack of faith in the system from Japan

Cant wait to buy the arcade Mario game that was included in every Mario Advance game (which I still own). :/
I would have been happy with any one of the following:
1) A release date for Stardew Valley.
2) Another "Deluxe/DX" Wii U re-release reveal.
3) A proper Virtual Console service reveal, with N64 or Gamecube games.
That's it. Any one of those things. It's not like my standards are unrealistically high and I'm expecting megatons.
That Direct was abysmal, and I'm quite concerned that after Mario Odyssee, there's nothing in the near future that I'm interested in on Switch. Pokemon and Metroid are the only two future games I especially care about, and they're still a long way off.

Why do you want a release date for Stardew Valley, if you're not interested in it?
That's because there is almost literally nothing announced for the near future. If it's a good strategy is up to debate, but Nintendo wants to focus the messaging on the games, which will be release soon. It's in opposite to Sony, which announce titles very far in advance. Hell, its in opposite to many companies, who want to build up hype (see Marvel, Star Wars, etc.).That Direct was abysmal, and I'm quite disappointed that after Mario Odyssee, there's nothing in the near future that I'm interested in on Switch.
> Nintendo has a solid line-up for the coming, Direct served to lay it out.
> Somehow people expect multiple megatons and multiple new Nintendo-games that arent relevant until at least mid next year
> People are disappointed.
Every. Damn. Time.

I want to be excited for the future of a console I own. A direct that's all ports and stuff I knew was coming for the past year is the exact opposite of exciting. Why would I want the immediate future to be laid out...again. I'm not a fruit fly, I'm somehow still aware that Mario Odyssey is coming out next fucking month and Xenoblade 2 is right around the corner.
