Is this the last of the Hanabi festival games???

Pretty dissapointing this time round if so, we got some nice games but other than Pulseman and Smash Table Tennis all the other games have been on US VC for ages.
 
I'd just like to say that anyone sitting on the fence about March of the Minis should get off and buy it! It is an amazing package for only 800 points.

60 normal levels, 40 plus levels, and a Robust level editor. Throw in the ability to share levels easily via wifi, and 140 level storage slots and you have an excellent game. While the gameplay is dissimilar to the original Mario vs Donkey Kong, the game is fun and challenging and offers a lot of different puzzles.

Get it!

(Also I hope Nintendo makes a new game in the style of Mario vs Donkey Kong with a great level editor too)

It's so funny looking at the Japanese downloads compared to the other regions. Nintendo's still so obsessed with Japan. I could get it in the retail side because of currency exchange and stuff, but it makes no sense on the digital side.

I'm kind of glad it doesn't happen in the other regions for WiiWare though. Japan's WiiWare is so full of crap. There's no quality control in the slightest (judging by videos, don't own a Jap Wii).

japanese devs develop tons of games for the japanese market. more news at eleven.

Japanese Wiiware may get more shovelware but they also get awesome looking games like Muscle March and Let's Hitchhike! that are never going to come out in the US, I'd make that tradeoff any day.
 
Okay Nintendo, why don't you just shit in our mouths instead. Another 'A Little Bit Of...' game, and its bloody Brain Training Sudoku just to rub salt in the wound. Give us some decent games, preferably not more puzzle games, I'm a big fan of them and all but I'm up to the gills in them and they are all pretty similar.

Oh and change the prices you greedy bastards.

You must be the only person who thinks the service is great. I have a shitload of puzzlers I don't want any more of varying quality.

And who do you think should change the prices? The greedy shits at Nintendo who charge £9 for 1000 points, and make you pay nearly £4 for what amounts to the content a free demo.

So you are forced to buy everything every week on WiiWare?
If you don't like the price, do not buy the game. It's that easy.

I would like to see March of the Minis on DSiWare too but DSiWare is not supposed to replace retail-quality games. Those games are small bits for a 5minutes break for example.

The Art Style series is great so far. Those other games not so much.
 
I don't want to see bigger "retail-style" games until you can launch games from the SD card.

I don't have close to everything on DSiWare, but it's about down to 2-3 more games that I'd be able to get.

I imagine those little G&W things are tiny though.
 
Yes ArtStyle is lovely, so was bitGenerations, but I was under the impression DSiWare was a big selling point for the system and a worthwhile trade-off for losing the GBA slot. But who is developing for the damn service? And who would buy when they are ripping us off with the prices, in Europe at least. Why is it only £7 for 1000 Wii Points but £9 for 1000 DSi Points?

If I were a developer I wouldn't see any real reason to work on DSiWare, the service is not very user-friendly, Nintendo has a vice-grip on the release schedule, it is probably expensive to create for and you'd have to pay some sort of quite substantial lisencing fee to Nintendo, and there is hardly anyone buying by the looks of things. I'd love to see the download figures for DSiWare, I wonder how many people downloaded something after using the initial free points.

There is probably no reason to chose DSiWare over the App store, not even for functionality like touch screen because the iPod and iPhone have that. No doubt its much cheaper to create for the App store, releases are more numerous and regular, its a lot cheaper for the customer.

How is this possible?
Wii point codes work on DSi.

They even changed the cards to no longer say Wii Points.
All new ones should say Nintendo Points.

(even if you find an old Wii Points card, it works on DSi just fine)

Not in Europe they haven't, at least not if I buy them with my card via the Shop Channel services. Its still separate Wii and DSi points even though they call them Nintendo points. If you buy points from the Wii Shop Channel they are added to the Wii, and likewise for DSi. No code is generated, the points are directly added to the respective console.

In mainland Europe it is &#8364;10 for both. What happened between the Wii launch and DSi launch is the exchange rate between £ and &#8364; slided pretty badly. Presumebly NOE didn't want Europeans mass importing "cheaper" goods from the UK so went and "adjusted" the price on all new products for the UK. They used the exchange rate of £1=&#8364;1.1 (now it is about £1=&#8364;1.16).

Of course existing products did not change in price leading to crazy situations such as the mentioned Wii points and not to mention the DSi RRP being 50% more than the DS Lite compared to about 12% for the rest of the world. That coupled with a DSiWare currently lacking titles such as Mighty Flip Champs (was supposed to be out Q2; NOE currently have it out for TBD) and March of the Minis (NOE said to expect it at the end of the year) and you can see why the DSi isn't such an attractive deal for the UK.

The thing I'm most upset about is the Nintendo points cards as those are at the DSi price for points which might put off people unable to buy points from the Wii Shop from using the Wii Shop.

That pretty much sums up why I'm so peeved. They charge £150 for a minor upgrade of old technology and the main draw completely fails to deliver yet still manages to be overpriced.

Don't tell me you upgraded from a Lite to a DSi without waiting to see if there were some games you wanted to play from it's online service? I went in knowing full well the state Japan's small lineup of DSiWare.

I upgraded from an old phat DS. The extra money I had to spend to skip the Lite has been worth it so far. If not for DSiWare itself, but just the fact that I can see my DS games properly.

I only upgraded because of some trade-in deal the retailer was doing, and I was trading in some unwanted DS games. Otherwise I would not of got one, even then it was still a hazy moment of stupidity.
 
9 pounds are less than 10€ and the rest of Europe is paying 10€ since the Wii got released. So please stop whining because you have to pay nearly the same amount NOW.
2000Points are on sale for 25€ in a lot of stores around here!

It was known before this is not a major leap so far but something like Xbox360 Arcade (with Dashboard) to Xbox360 Premium (with NXE).

I did the same as dallow: I bought a DSi because I skipped the DSL. My phat kinda died few months ago and so this was the perfect opportunity for me ;)

I like the DSi so far and the option to have some great puzzle games on the go to play for like 10-15minutes is what I wanted for the DS phat. I love doing some Brain Training or Daily Picross and I hated to have to have all the cartridges with me.
Therefore I bought a flashcard and now I have the same effect without a flashcard.
Daily Picross is on the way and I'm going to buy this as well.
This is what I wanted DSiWare to be and what DSiWare should be.

Please name me some franchise/idea/genre you could imagine to be on DSiWare!
 
I loooove a good puzzle game and DSiWare has been THE place to be for me and my ilk since April.

Just finished Aquia last night. Can't wait to see what skip's working on next, because I've loved ALL of these.

EDIT: I also have to get up over 100k on pyoro. :D

When I get a DSi, I seriously have to get Pictobits. The rest of the Art Style DS games seem good too, but that one is calling out to me. :P
 
I'm very happy with the dsiware service. I have 4 dsiware games and I don't even normally keep a cartridge in my DSi, thats how well these 4 games are occupying my time.

I do hope to see some sweet 2d platformers (with a level editor please!) some time in the future.

It is pretty great. Visually and thematically the whole package works, but it also is a pretty creative game too.

Im really into bit trip beat, but dam does that game get hard. How does core compare?

Also, Im really undecided between My life as a darklord or Swords and solders. WHich do you guys suggest?

Btw, the game was/is awesome, I loved hangin' from the Coca-Cola sign and then do the 360° roll and kick-flip jump-kick :lol


Now I wish we'll get Vendetta from Konami, the best brawler ever for me, it's like a Streets of Rage Xn and it never got a home port :drools:

Muscle March could indeed come over. We have waited nearly a year for some Japanese Wiiware though, so if it did it could come anytime. Given the small risk, and relative critical success in Japan I'd be hopeful to see it.

Technically they arleady have though. Japan has Ninja Gaiden for NES and PCE.

I know you weren't talking to me - and I'm relatively happy with DSiWare so far - but I would love to see some more non-puzzle games. In particular, I would happily pay 500 points for a Knytt game, or 800 points for Knytt Stories with an editor. Some arcade-style action games/shmups might be nice too.. stuff like the awesome-looking iPhone Space Invaders. DSiWare is also the perfect platform to bring over some of the cell phone games that we've been missing out on.

I'm also still hoping to see a Virtual Handheld at some point.

DSiWare is doing okay so far, but there's a ton of untapped potential there.

Take this with a grain of salt, but some people around the net seem to have gotten the idea it'll be out August 3rd in NA and July 31st in EU. I haven't seen it from a reliable source though.

Animal Crossing on DSi would be great so you could easily jump in and do some tasks without swapping the card

Well you obviously have a different conception of value and a different vision for DSiWare. Personally I don't want to pay stupid prices for snippets of full retail releases when I can get the whole game sometimes for £5/£6 more.

You must work for Nintendo because your excuses are horrific and the very worst brand of fandom (DSiWare is good because I don't have to carry cartridges, oh please). The consensus is the service is severely underwhelming, particularly in Europe. And its not difficult to think of games that could be on DSiWare- how about some platformers, maybe a bit of point-and-click (extra scenarios from Hotel Dusk or additional cases for Phoenix Wright?), maybe something along the lines of Daigasso: Band Brothers, hell I wouldn't be adverse to a Nintendogs style game because it would fit a downloadable service.

And that's before I'd had a browse of the App Store/mobile games market, I'm sure there are plenty of titles ripe for DSiWare on there, but nobody is developing because the service no doubt screws them over. Nobody is likely to be buying either.
