I could have sword I said I'd like this thread, which is about Nintendo's E3 Direct and presence, to not turn into a soapbox analysis of Emily Rogers' trustability and rumour history. Because we certainly haven't beaten that horse to death in a hundred other threads prior. But maybe I'm misremembering things.

I feel like that's only a detour, dude. I doubt the whole thread will dissolve into that unless someone (ahem) makes a big deal about it

I don't understand you remake-people

These are new consoles and handhelds - don't you want to have new stuff on it before asking for remakes of games that aren't even that old? A 3DS defining Zelda instead of a N64 Zelda for 3DS?

We want both and we can have both. LTTP is coming this fall so whats wrong with some Majora in the summer 2014? I never played the N64 games, so playing OoT 3D was an absolute experience for me and I reallly want them to bring Majora 3D.

But but...I want so see the moon slowly moving towards the town on the 3rd day.....IN 3D!!!
Majora's Mask on 3DS would be lame. It doesn't lend itself well to handheld gaming with the save system and all. If anything, a Wii U HD version of Majora's Mask might justify a remake, but it's completely pointless since it still holds up so well today. If any Zelda needs a remake, it's Zelda I, II or Link's Awakening.

I'm starting to get worried about Nintendo. Have they ever announced and released a AAA title in the same year?

In recent years Nintendo has increasingly taken the habit of announcing games shortly before release, as opposed to what happened previously - e.g. Ocarina of time.

Honestly I agree that with Wii U they may have gone overboard with this secretiveness of theirs, but I cannot see how Nintendo could not be releasing some big titles in Q3/Q4, as if nothing else I understand their teams have been working on the system for two years at least by now.

Me.

I'm at the point where any other Retro game other than MP 4 will be disappointing.

If it is MP4 then I hope we can also use the wiimote with it. It sucks that missed out on the trilogy set. The damn thing costs more than Xenoblade from what I've seen.

What is Grezzo up to? Would be funny if they were behind Wind Waker HD.

A fair point!

NO YOU.

MM remake only makes sense. The assets are there, the game design is done - just pretty it up, include a more flexible save system, and maybe a few pleasant bonuses, and let the money pour in. I'd be there Day Zero.

And I don't typically care that much for remakes. But I need MM remade.

Exactly. This is a great jumping on point for me. I've beaten (or nearly beaten) every 3D Zelda except Majora, and I'd love a chance to do so without using the Virtual Console, Zelda Collection Disk, or an actual N64. The only reason I played through Ocarina all the way was because I had it on 3DS. I'd love to do the same with Majora.

Oh that was sarcasm...sorta. I want it but I can wait some years.

MM looks like rubbish on a modern-day TV set. All N64 games do. It needs a remake. If they simply tweaked the save system to be more portable-friendly, it'd be perfect for 3DS, since half of the assets are already ready via OoT3D, not to mention the 3D would make for many impressive moments, like seeing the moon in 3D, and the touchscreen would allow you access to all of your masks at once, and would make tracking the Bomber's Notebook even easier. You could also do that with the GamePad, of course, but OoT3D means there's already an engine and assets for the game on the 3DS.

3 Zelda remakes during one generafion just sounds like too much Zelda to me. Let's wait for the 3DS successor.

I would have taken a Majora's Mask HD project over Wind Waker, if re-styled like the official artwork. That awesome mix of textured assets with hard black cel shading and highlights.

Aren't they? That's what I thought they'll be doing, to be honest.

No idea. Would make sense. I don't think Nintendo has confirmed who's on it.

Would it be funny? Or would it just be one of the more likely scenarios?

They're probably helping out with WW or helping out with LTTP2.

Wiki says they're 37 strong, which is honestly more than I thought. Maybe they're working on their own thing. Maybe.

Look at what happened with the Game Boy Advance. SMB2, SMB3, World, Yoshi's Island -- all re-released. Not even remade. Just tweaked a bit with red coins here, e-Reader levels there. Then they tacked on arcade Mario Bros. for each and every one, and called it a day. For an entire generation of kids that never played the originals, those were brand new games. There are kids playing games today who weren't even alive when Majora's Mask came out. Ditto for Ocarina of Time. Remaking MM, with a welcome-and-waiting engine and assets on the 3DS, makes a lot of sense.

Let's just remake a new Zelda game every year. And then when they've finished all of them up to Skyward Sword, they can just remake the remakes.

I know I personally don't want any more brand new content

I think Nintendo will have two big games for Nov., one game for Sept, one for Oct and one for Dec.

Guessing what is coming when is up in the air

All we know is Zelda WW HD is one of those now we have 4 more spots

They can be 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Yoshi Yarn, Bayo2, Retros game, Smash Bros or something we dont know about

Whatever you say, but it's a waste of time since it still holds up so well today. I don't understand why anyone would want a 3DS version. I think remaking Ocarina of Time on 3DS was a missed opportunity when it could have been on a console (though, I do love the 3DS).

I'd rather get a Zero Mission-esque remake for a Zelda game that needs it like the original NES game then a throwaway, pointless MM remake for 3DS.

Almost 39 hours left.

Ugh, guess it's time to sleep. Catch some zzz's before tomorrow night's long watch. Guess I'll skip the EA presser and take a nap between MS's presser and Ubi's presser. Sony's conference will be from 3:00 AM till 5:00 in the damn morning :(

I'd have preferred it if they just released Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword on one disc as an HD Collection, rather than just doing a full-on remake of Wind Waker.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a huge fan of remakes. I sort of view them as being similar to the Special Editions of Star Wars films. I prefer games to be kept as they originally were, rather than messing with the assets, etc.

How does MM still hold up well today? Have you tried playing it on an HDTV?

OoT being remade for a portable was great. One of the greatest adventures in videogames, in the palm of your hands, no longer looking stretched and blurry and washed-out, and finally playing at a stable framerate, in widescreen, with autostereoscopic 3D, and quick select for items like the Iron Boots. It was an excellent enhancement and refinement, and it was available on the go.

Its companion piece, MM, deserves that much.

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty certain Nintendo isn't going to only release WWHD and Wii Fit from October-December.

What I meant was he was assuming we would get Mario Kart and 3D Mario this year, but the Fall line up could be a combo of one of those and other stuff, not that it will be empty.

Ahh. Okay.

I think the studio is a little too small for that

You're not going to need much from them. Everything's already setup. I don't think it'll be much work.

Ok I started this the other day (inspired by the Nintendo crews 'arrival in LA' photos) Doesn't look like I'll have time to finish it before the big day so feel free to edit/add to.

Awesome pic! :D

(freaking love this movie...the original I mean lol)

Is it gonna go on for two hours???

Shit... Might have to skip it then.

Yeah, my Gamecube port and the Wii VC version look perfectly fine on my HDTV.

All right, I admit playing OoT on a handheld was great, and while I do think the 3DS remake is the definitive version, I prefer playing it on a console.

Fine. I'll allow it.

Nintendo, hurry up an remake it for 3DS before I change my mind.

As much as I don't want to see MM on 3DS (it's better suited as a console experience like OoT), I would buy it in a heartbeat.
