Nintendo @ Gamescom - Streaming Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, more

I wonder if there's more moons in a different section of this kingdom. They just got a third of the moons on the HUD in just a couple of minutes.

Oh, this makes more sense than what I said.

I wonder if the moon counter in the upper left corner is the counter to how many moons you need to power the Odyssey. Because if it's showing all the moons in the kingdom they've collected almost half the moons in this stream alone. All of this seems rather easy too.

This is my main concern regarding the game. It seems you can get all the moons pretty quickly.

How many moons are there? 120? In games like Super Mario 64 you could find a bunch of stars rather quickly if you knew what you had to do(the game could be completed in a few hours). And let's not forget that this game could end up being easy as Nintendo has been trying to make 3D Mario games more approachable(which is why Super Mario 3D Land/World came to be the way they were in first place).

Can't remember the exact figure, but it's multiple hundreds.

I agree that's my main concern at this point too, but think how much content was in Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2, 3D World and 3D Land. I'm sure this will be no different.

Who knows, maybe the power moons are only the first third of the game, you fight Bowser, then have to collect power shines, fight Bowser, then power stars, before the final boss. Just a complete guess obviously, but there's no way they'd let us be able to 1/3 a Kingdom in a few minutes.

They said something like 30, 40, 50 per kingdom, and we know of 7 kingdoms so far, with several more yet to be announced. So definitely more than 120.

Each Kingdom has a set amount of main objectives Power Moons like the cheese one you saw. I wonder how many of those will each kingdom have. Maybe 6?

Eh, like in my previous post, there were courses in SM64 like Lethal Lava Land(the 7th one) that if you knew what you had to do you could complete it in like 20 minutes, probably the 100 coin star would be the one that took the longest(in general that was the case) and these guys looked like knew what they had to do to get those moons.

I wonder if it could be possible to end with different amounts of moons per kingdom.

I wonder if they would have been better off having each power moon act like heart pieces in Zelda. Four moon shards = one power moon, with whole power moons kept for the bigger objectives.

Lots of moons in that segment.

I reckon there is plently more to find. The cheese rock one seems like a regular mission you would find in 64.

Maybe if we have a look at the collection screen there's a sequence. For now it looks like you fill out a quota for the next trip.

I was wondering if there was going to be a lunch-themed kingdom so I'm glad to see that confirmed. No lunch, no buy tbh.

Mario Odyssey has allegedly been in the can or close to finished for a while--if development went that well and ahead of schedule I just can't imagine content and game length will be an issue.

They were working on the game for basically 3 years if you assume it was mostly done outside of minor things early this year. So in 3 years, it will definitely have a lot to it.

If I recall correctly development ended early this year now they were just fine tuning stuff.

God that tournement opening ceremony was cringey as fuck! Even the crowd was like What the fuuuuuck...

Prize is a SNES Mini. At least somebody will get one!

When the level first appeared we saw 'Under the Cheese Rock' which reminded me of the Sunshine episode structure. The developers mentioned that each level had a story and that the levels would change. We've seen some evidence such as New York City at night that suggests the levels change. I suspect each level has 8 missions where the level progressively changes each mission. There are also 30-50 other power moons that look like they can be obtained at any point through exploring. Some are Korok quest like, others involve bonus rooms, challenge rooms or minigames, or by completing side/fetch quests. Given the call back to SM64 and the fact that Nintendo has already revealed 7 kingdoms. I'm guessing there will be 15 kingdoms in total with 8 Main Missions per kingdom adding up to 120 main missions.

Mario continues to look like the most creative, packed with coo gameplay game Nintendo has made in forever. The density of fun seems to be insanely high.

Has anyone played Mario there or seen some crisper footage than I've seen? Because man, it still looks way too blurry for my liking.

Don't want to imagine how this will look on my 65 incher. Is it maybe the fault of the source or is the game really a bit blurry?

The youtube video was low quality even in 720p, so if you're referring to that I wouldn't worry too much.

Oh, it's just an hour :(

Hopefully it's at least something new and not just retreading the E3 stuff.

I'm fine if it's the same location as E3 but a newer build as they said during the Treehouse demo that they were still working on populating the cities and general graphic enhancements.

More importantly, I hope they show a minimal mode outside of combat where you can't see the blade characters.

Anyone else noticing very low framerate on this FIFA demo they're showing? Guessing it's the stream as I've not seen it like this before...

The stream isnt 60fps. I have it on a second screen and i'm not watching that much, so it could be bad, but if you are seeing a constant 30 it's the best you can see from this stream.

I like the european crew, but their setup is bad, the screen layout makes it really hard to see the game, and the resolution/quality is also bad.
