Nintendo reveals Wii MotionPlus -- 1:1 motion control add-on

:lol :lol :lol

Now I'm hyped for the game they'll demo this controller with...

Red Steel 2, Star Wars, and a Retro Zelda Spin-off. Now that would be a MEGATON!

I'm afraid Nunchuk less games means more non-game applications.

But it could be interesting depending on what demos they show for it.

This is why I hate the wiimote. People saying it's so accurate when it's not. Now they come out with this nonsense that'll definitely cost money, and likely won't be compatible with any current games. Thanks Nintendo.

Wow, very much unexpected...this I imagine is pretty much confirmation that Microsoft is about to announce a wii remote for the 360....and Nintendo in typical fashion has got wind of the 360 wand and tried to beat them to it by a couple of hours :lol

This is great! I really hope they bundle this add-on with Wii Sports 2 and/or Wii Play 2.

You just know that there will be some great new first party game that fully utilizes the add-on.

Please Nintendo - let me hit batting practice with this......

There goes the Newton.

Ahh come on people..
Why wouldnt the competitors want to try to make it better than wiimote? I dont think that for example MS said: "Let makes this as good as the wii mote is now"... that is not how things work goddamit..

pay attention in school people... :D

there is a port on the bottom to attach your nunchuk.

Wow. Uh. Unexpected much?

Hopefully they have some neat stuff that utilizes this to show off. Hopefully the promise of 1:1 is attainable this time.

MEGA-FUCKING-TON
This attachment being optional means few games will actually use it, though.

Agree that this should be free and packaged with all upcoming systems.

Otherwise, developers will never utilize it.
Lowest common denominator, etc.

And you can't use the nunchuck with it??

Prolly a pre-emptive response to whatever MS has cooking. Why is everyone thinking this will succeed as an add-on peripheral when everyone yells how MS's idea won't work cause it's not the main controller?

Incredibly genius move. Calculated. Two hours before Microsoft announces their remote. This is why nintendo is briliant.

Oh snap! Real 1:1! Hope Lucasarts is paying attention.

The thing is, making 1:1 technically possible and then making a game out of it are two very different things. It could be utilised well in a game like Boom Blox, sure, but any sort of duelling mechanic is going to be bollocks if it's attempted because there's no way the AI would be any near as good as it needed to be.

As for the add-on, i remain skeptical that it's something I'll be wanting. I'm just about done with the Wii at the moment, it's going to take something pretty monumental to pull me back in.

I think you can still plug the nunchuk in to it. It looks like theres a place on the back that flips. Just a guess though.

No need to worry. There is a port for the Nunchuk behind the MotionPlus :D

Well that sure came out of nowhere. Methinks Nintendo knows that sony and microsoft will be showing new controllers bragging about better acuracy than the wiimote.

the real question to me is, since the Wii is a mainstream and casual system, how many casuals care about 1:1 and will buy this for 30 $???

This better be attached to a Lightsaber game as part of the package, because nothing would be more bad ass than 1:1 lightsaber battles.

I don't understand.

The built-in one isn't good enough?
By having 2 motion sensors at some distance from each other they can accurately map twists and rotations. I guess this is all this is.

Why can't we ever have our cake and eat it.
If you look at the picture, there appears to be a slot for the nunchuk.

Using two will give a better readout of direction and movement, think like you were holding a sword with both hands on the handle.

better control etc.
