Nintendo Sets Release Dates for Q1 for 3DS/Wii U

Part of me gets this horrible feeling that Nintendo actually thinks the Wii U lineup is amazing and they don't need to do anything for a while.

There is rayman and monster hunter.

Once we get into March it will, until then we're all going to play something else.

Well, if Lego City and Aliens are decent enough, i'll be getting those, so that's not too bad. I'll be trying to snatch some launch games at discount prices as well (Batman, ME3, Darksiders 2... whichever applies), and i still need to get SMBU and N'land.

Been playing ZombiU, AC3, Nano Assault and Trine2 up til now.

I plan on getting Lego City and Aliens also but I still think Nintendo needs to act now as they are facing a serious uphill battle. Aliens doesn't have a release date yet while it's PS360 counterpart does. None of the games with firm release dates have the potential to move a lot of systems, IMO.

We are starting to get more and more rumors about MS/Sony next gen consoles and Nintendo's time to shine is dwindling more and more each day. Don't get me wrong, I think Nintendo can turn it around but they need to do something soon and start announcing and/or showing some games.

So many games I want between the Wii U and 3DS. Not sure if I can find the time to play them all. :/

Glad we're getting Fist of the North Star 2. I'll be buying that one for sure.

The sad part is that lineup is a lot better than is currently announced in Japan.

Target has a buy 2 get 1 free sale on Wii U games right now

Games like Batman, Scribblenauts, Ninja Gaiden, Tekken Tag, and various sports games are $45

Sonic Racing is $39.99

You could do a package like Batman, Scribblenauts, and Tekken for $90 (plus tax)

Not bad. It comes out to a little over $30 per game.

Thanks, but i'm from Europe :) I'm just hoping those games reach our shores as well come March. I already missed a 22 pound deal on Batman on Amazon.co.uk :(

Well, interesting to see how those nextgen rumors turn out. Maybe they feel they have less to worry about than most here seem to think (maybe some will be disappointed with the "nextgen" systems), or maybe they are just stacking up a serious line-up to battle against the presumably less stellar launch line-up of the other systems, maybe they don't want to run out of gas too soon and are aiming for software dominance by that time.

How could they possibly think that when they're on track to miss their Wii U hardware and software projections by a wide margin?

The real question is what they can do, not whether they think they need to do anything.

Although I'm a little disappointed some of the big titles are not out sooner, I did kind of expect this.

I remember when I pre-ordered the Wii back in the summer of 2006, being told by the retailer that Mario Galaxy was a launch game....

Still plenty to keep me occupied for the time being - there are good Wii titles I've wanted to play and not got around to, so they'll fill in droughts for the foreseeable future.

Wtf was nintendo doing all those years that the Wii was on life support??? Wii u launch was really rushed it seems. Thank god i never finished skyward sword!

It seems like a lot of those resources were put into 3DS games.

It obviously is going to take more people to make a 3DS game than a DS game.

I guess the good news is they're pretty much going to have to go running to Sakaguchi and fund whatever his next game idea is (if they're not already).

Wii U is kind of thin on first party games, but I'm still happy with that lineup -- especially on eShop. Between the two platforms there are more interesting games than I have time for.

With the way Nintendo is holding back software announcements, it seems like Nintendo thinks what is announced is exciting enough to buy into the system. The lineup is better than the post 3ds launch though, so I guess they "learned" from the 3DS.

So Nintendo is releasing all the 3DS games they didn't release for holidays all together in two months:

Nintendo Brain Age™: Concentration Training Feb. 10
Fire Emblem Awakening Feb. 4
Luigi’s Mansion™: Dark Moon March 24
Pokémon™ Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity March 24

I really CANNOT BELIEVE none of them could have been pushed to holidays 2012, instead they release them at once. Then they'll wonder why the bad sales.

In the other hand, clearing all that out at once instead of one per month makes me feel hope for Animal Crossing in April...

This annoys me so much as well. At least stagger Luigi's and Pokemon in different weeks.

...idiots.

Luckily, ZombieU and NSMB will keep me busy for now and I can't play that much anyway.

I feel sorry for those who really, really want a wii u but can't buy it because of the lack of games. So sad.

Wii U
Fist of the North Star®: Ken’s Rage 2 Feb. 7
Rayman® Legends Feb. 26
LEGO® City: Undercover March 18

3DS
Fire Emblem Awakening Feb. 4
Etrian Odyssey™IV: Legends of the Titan Feb. 26
Luigi’s Mansion™: Dark Moon March 24
Shin Megami Tensei®: Devil Summoner®: Soul Hackers April 16

Good lineup for me despite wonderful 101 and the nintendo wii u stuff getting pushed back.

What happened to Game & Wario as well? I'm not surprised about Pikmin being a no-show, but G&W seemed like it'd squeak into Q1 for sure.

Edit: Also HarmoKnight nowhere to be found.

I don't have much time to play games anymore, so I'm ok with this. I'll pick up both versions of Monster Hunter, and a few other 3DS games and have more than enough to play.

Wii U, what happened to your launch window?

I'm really disappointed there's still no date for Animal Crossing though. It's doing so well in Japan you'd think they'd want to get it out here too.

Right, you can't just go "Well that line-up was bad, let's put out five games right now!"

It's really a loaded 3DS lineup in Q1 already. It might be more of a decision to push it back, rather than any wait for localization to finish up
Although I'm sure the amount of text to translate in the game is monstrous.

Nintendo PR said:
The Wii U home console launched to great acclaim on Nov. 18 with the largest lineup of games in Nintendo history.
Is this really true? I thought the GC had more stuff coming out at launch, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Dreamcast is all that comes to mind for me
The release list for 2000 on Dreamcast was absolutely nuts.

Crazy Taxi
Dead or Alive 2
D2
Grandia II
Jet Set Radio
Maken X
MDK2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Phantasy Star Online
Power Stone 2
Resident Evil Code Veronica
San Francisco Rush 2049
Samba de Amigo
Shenmue
Skies of Arcadia
Typing of the Dead
Virtua Tennis

fucking horrible Q1 list. The 3DS is not that different, at least in EU

oh well, time to play those Ambassador games

Game & Wario™, The Wonderful 101™, Pikmin™ 3 and Wii Fit™ U will arrive in the first half of the year. Additional information about launch timing for these games will be announced at a later date.

I understand. Moronic 3rd parties don't want to make games for the Wii U, so Nintendo have to spread their "launch window" releases to whole first 6 months. Well, that's fine by me. There's just too many games for first 3 months.

So we have three prominent titles get hard release dates within a day of one another in LEGO City Undercover, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate...

Aliens: Colonial Marines has now been delayed from a simultaneous release with other platforms in February thus expanding the drought at retail until Rayman Legends on the 26th... and overall - apart from a couple eShop releases for things like FotNS: Ken's Rage 2 and The Cave...

Plus, no sign of Pikmin 3 and the Wonderful 101.

How delightful!

That's why you never buy a console at launch, launch games suck. I learned my lesson last gen with the ps3/360. So many cold and lonely nights.

So besides Animal Crossing New Leaf, it really seems like Q2/Q3 will be empty yet again for 3DS...
We need localization announcements soon.

That was just a PR for the Q1 lineup, it's obvious we know very little for Q2 right now. Even more for Q3. And still, there's already some known content coming in that period: Soul Hackers, Animal Crossing and the surprising LCU 3DS in April. Dates will come as soon as we approach to April, May and June.

Oh Wii U, you sad, sad machine.

Nothing I really want from full releases; maybe Lego. 6 eshop titles in 3 months. sigh

I guess the wasteland is why Pikmin is not there. Need to fill the gaps.

Well Nintendo, I hope you're hurting, badly.

Fucking atrocious. Where's my Animal Crossing? How in the world does it take so long for that game to be localized when probably 70% of it is rehashed dialogue for all the old villagers?

Thanks, Nintendo, for not having anything for me for the 3DS that I care about or like.
