That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works!
If it was that easy then every PC game would have DLSS support when 2.0 came out and they don't. More and more do of course but not every single one.Nvidia says otherwise:
NVIDIA DLSS 2.0: A Big Leap In AI Rendering
Through the power of AI and GeForce RTX Tensor Cores, NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 enables a new level of performance and visuals for your games - available now in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and coming this week to Control.www.nvidia.com
"One Network For All Games - The original DLSS required training the AI network for each new game. DLSS 2.0 trains using non-game-specific content, delivering a generalized network that works across games. This means faster game integrations, and ultimately more DLSS games."
Basically Nintendo and any devs working on support for Switch Pro can just use NVidia's tech to add that support across all games that will run on Switch Pro. DLSS 2.0 isn't game specific, it works on general game code.
It's down to the developers to implement it into their development, but going by NVidia's comments it doesn't need to be on a per game basis, so I'm not sure exactly what it entails. If it was that easy then every PC game would have DLSS support when 2.0 came out and they don't. I think because it makes no sense. As others have pointed out, 720p×120 is exactly the same number of pixels as 1440p×30, which would mean no power difference or performance advantage between docked and handheld.Hmm, not bad per se don't know why people are bitching about it, they are too dense to not know that the Switch is a damn handheld first and foremost not no damn console itself now I do think the performances are way off but I could be wrong now if it does get able to run at 120fps, the batter BETTER be good because games won't even last a damn hour with that.
Nintendo has always been high frame rate andy's tho. Their games aren't always very demanding but they like them looking polished.120fps, Nintendo? Never. It's BS.
60fps to 120fps it's like 1440p->4K = waste of resources because of diminishing returns. 60fps is optimal.
Glad to be wrong of course.
Sounds dated sounds like Nintendo !Nintendo Switch Pro to Support 720p 120 FPS in Portable Mode; 1440p 30 FPS in Docked Mode [Rumor] | Hardware Times

"According to the latest rumors coming out of Taiwan, the Nintendo Switch Pro will run at a resolution of 720p 120 FPS in portable mode, with docked mode optimized for 1440p 30 FPS. The GPU will be based on NVIDIA’s latest graphics architecture (Ampere or the upcoming Lovelace?), fabbed on TSMC’s 7nm class node with the chipset potentially leveraging a Samsung node.
The GPU core will supposedly run at around 1 GHz (base clock) while the vanilla Switch runs at 768 MHz. Quite frankly, this sounds a bit underwhelming as the latter is based on a fairly dated process. TSMC’s 7nm/6nm nodes should be capable of much higher frequencies.
It’s unclear whether the SKU will come with NVIDIA’s RTCores for ray-tracing but support for DLSS is almost confirmed which means we’ll see Tensor cores on-die. Third-party developers have reportedly already received dev-kits for the new console."
So you're expecting XSX/PS5 tier performance when docked and XSS tier performance in handheld mode? Yep, you're crazythat is.........weird.
call me crazy but i would expect 1080p with 60fps handheld.
1440p 0r 1840p, 60 fps on docked.
120fps on handheld mode.?wtf!?
its supposed to be a new model, besides, the power of DLSS!!!!!So you're expecting XSX/PS5 tier performance when docked and XSS tier performance in handheld mode? Yep, you're crazy
Physics are a thing lmao. Blows my mind that people expect a 100 watt console performance (XSS) in a handheld. If they want to make a resolution/framerate 'improvement', I think 1080p 60fps handheld and 4K 60fps docked would make more sense.
Not sure their watt performance, but there are any phones and tablets offering 1080p 60fps and beyond. Some even 4K.Physics are a thing lmao. Blows my mind that people expect a 100 watt console performance (XSS) in a handheld.

Makes no sense to push resolution so high if it means the games will look like PS3 games. The less details you have the lower the resolution can be.Resolution/framerate =/= graphics. So while the performance can be indeed on par with PS5/XSX, the visuals will be a few generations behind.
That is not the case at all… in dock it will still use higher frequencies.
The rumor is just baseless… and because it is make up the “creator” didn’t thought about make the specs reliable.
No there aren't. Most mobile games run at or around 720p, often much lower. And most of them are locked to 30 fps. And most of them look like PS3 games at best. You can't beat physics. Not sure their watt performance, but there are any phones and tablets offering 1080p 60fps and beyond. Some even 4K.

Essentially confirming "we banned Pascal from it for greed reasons".but support for DLSS is almost confirmed
"Look, TAA derivatives look kinda nice when you let frames accumulate... and terrible when you don't"This video shows a good example of
That's true, but the problem is that many people already have 4K TV, so the consoles have to adapt to it regardless, 900-1080p simply won't cut it. And the 4K res will supposedly be handled by DLSS anyway, so all the additional power Pro will have will be used for better visuals. Honestly, if NSW Pro offers something like this:
It's safe to say no one would complain, to say the elast.

Better have 1080 w 60fps than 1440p w 30fps...
Why whould they do this? Total nonscence!

And before green bitching about "tensor cores" comes: it is simply bunch of FPs, bitches, and even 1060 will wipe the floor with "switch pro" chip, regardless of counting in "tensor core" fp.
We get it, you hate Nvidia. Move on lmao"Look, TAA derivatives look kinda nice when you let frames accumulate... and terrible when you don't"
But it makes no sense because you are running at 120fps handheld. What would that be saving if you are outputting the same amount of pixels per second AND everything has to finish that much faster? Why 120fps in handheld mode? The reason why the OG switch was more powerful in docked was because of battery life. That my no longer be the case with the switch Pro.
You're right. Just the CPU must be 4x faster in mobile mode ... does not make sense at all.720p 120fps = 110.592.000 pixels per second
1440p 30fps = 110.592.000 pixels per second
That means there is no difference in terms of power/performance between Portable and Docked.
Something is wrong here.

I’m sorry… what?!Lastly, it’s expected that Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass for the Switch will be launched alongside the Switch Pro in the latter half of this year.
?The Switch doesnt use higher frequencies in handheld because it uses too much energy. I am not arguing that the rumor is true or not but your argument isnt grounded.
But it makes no sense because you are running at 120fps handheld. What would that be saving if you are outputting the same amount of pixels per second AND everything has to finish that much faster? Why 120fps in handheld mode?
Hell even notebooks, tablets or cellphones uses different frequencies plugged and unplugged.
If it comes free with the new gfx card why not? It actually helps them a lot on the res and fps side. The whole DLSS thing seems so unlikely, very un Nintendo like.
