Nintendo WiiU is the worst next-gen console

I like my U, but it is just a very limited system with a tiny catalogue of games. If you don't like Nintendo games, you are screwed. Which limits the audience and the success of the console greatly.

Are you from the future or do you like to talk shit about games you haven't played?

Are you from the future aswell? Have you played them as well? How do you know Zelda is going to be any good? Based on the trailers right? Well I'm doing the same, for what already has been announced. Goddam.

The gamepad has to be one of the worst controllers I've ever used. I can't think of any redeeming qualities.

Dat Off TV Play ! I wish Sony has anticipated better the so-called PS4/VITA relationship by putting L2/R2 buttons on the Vita, so the Remote Play could have been as relevant as the Off TV Play. I can shit everyday on the Wiimote, but I really like the GamePad in general. That said, I don't disagree much with the rest of your points.

Yeah OP I agree since both the ps4 and xbox one has sooooo many good games at the moment.

People always act as if it's so clear that WiiU has the best lineup.

I'll take Xbox1's lineup over any other atm. Titanfall, Dragon Age, Dead Rising, COD, Evil Within, Wolfenstein, etc is much more appealing to me than Mario, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Smash. I can't be the only one, either.

I buy a system to play games, not to admire the OS.

The gamepad does suck, I'll give you that. Should not be required.

I didn't say that; you are downplaying games just on the snippets that have been shown. Get a grip.

The system has major flaws but Nintendo still makes excellent games, if it was my only console I would be very disappointed. As a supplementary machine it's great, I'd prefer it if Nintendo just made games and got out of the hardware business but that's not a popular opinion here.

I'm playing through Rhythm Heaven Fever right now and having an absolute blast, no one makes games quite like Nintendo.

The Wii U has good games and that's it imo. Nintendo could be doing some amazing things, but instead they play it incredibly safe.

Again, people are usually talking about exclusives. Take out Titanfall and Dead Rising and that list could be on PS4. If you include PC there's no reason to own an XBO from that list

Not a single exclusive on that list.

The Wii U has 2 games that interest me, and 2 games coming up in 2015.

The Xbone has 2 games that interest me, and 1 coming up.

The PS4 has 0 games that interest me, and about 7 coming up.

I'll be going with the PS4 this gen once these games start coming out. But the Wii U is a close second imo.

Also, complaining about OS in a console is pretty stupid and the last thing you should use to judge if a console is good or bad.

2015 looks fantastic. I know I'm getting at least 4 games for the system which is more than I've lined up for my Xbox One and the same number I've lined up for my PS4.

You can get literally all of those on the 360.

You're not. Although I like PS4 and not Xbox One. Point still stands that I don't care for Nintendo IPs, except for Paper Mario, but look what happened to that.

Ah well, I also bought my Wii U late last year and I don't have any regrets. In comparison to the other next gen consoles, tech wise it pales, sure.

The exclusives though, so far they are SUPERIOR to the exclusives on both the other consoles.

The problem I have with this is that Nintendo could be a third party and produce just as many quality games. We shouldn't have to be stuck with a bad console.

Eh, you know what you're getting with a Wii U. I haven't gotten one yet, but plan to fairly soon as now there is a decent number of games out that I want to play. I would only have bought one at launch if they had something like Galaxy 3 or a new Zelda ready.

The Gameboy and DS were "bad consoles" compared to their competitors, yet I wouldn't trade them for the world. A console is defined by its games, not its specs.

As someone with a Gaming PC, the Wii U easily has the most exclusives that I really care about at the moment, and likely will in 2015 too. The only PS4/XB1 exclusives I really want in 2015 are FF Type-0 HD and Bloodborne.

Best current gen controller options, free online, best game lineup, 4+ 2015 games I'm interested in already, storage is easy and cheap te expand and it consumes less than 35 watts of power. Sorry OP im going to have to disagree.

If you don't like Nintendo games you really shouldn't be buying a Nintendo console.

On Wii U I'm getting:

Captain Toad (Europe)
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Splatoon
Mario Maker
Yoshi's Woolly World
Star Fox
Mario vs Donkey Kong
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Mighty No. 9
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Hyrule Warriors DLC Pack 3 + 4
Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2
The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)

and depending on quality:

Mario Party 10
Devil's Third

E3 Possibilities (not necessarily launching in 2015)

HD Remake (Mario Sunshine)
Retro Studios (Metroid)
Amiibo RPG
Nintendo Land 2 (Miyamoto gamepad projects)
Animal Crossing

On PC / PS4 / XBO / 3DS

Metal Gear Solid V
The Witness
Majora's Mask 3D
S.T.E.A.M.

Again, I'm still a fan. I still buy their games, but they are lagging behind the competition. And no, 2015 looks awful unless you ignore what other publishers are doing. There are far better games elsewhere than the ones you mentioned coming out in 2015 for other platforms.

A) You're stating your opinion as fact. This is very weird to me and not going to get you a lot of agreement.

B) Multiple platforms have have good lineups at the same time you know :P

Won't really argue with you on the hardware front like online infrastructure or storage space.

Valid points, but the good games released on the Wii U outweigh all the negative points you mentioned.

The Wii U is a great console for Nintendo fans. That is my opinion.

1 - The gamepad has to be one of the worst controllers I've ever used. I can't think of any redeeming qualities. It feels cheap, it feels uncomfortable, it should had never been part of their Wii U strategy. The fact that it can't be disabled, and you need it for access some Wii U setting makes all this matter more aggravating.
2 - It is late 2014, and I can't have a decent party chat with my friends. We have to create our parties through Ps4, to be able to talk while we play smash 4. How fucking ridiculous is that? The 360 was able to do this in 2005. I mean how ridiculous is that, is not even a joking matter anymore it's just sad.
3 - Its internal memory is awful. After buying Smash and Pikmin digitally is almost full. How could they get away with this?
4 - The lack of third party support just can't be ignored. It's hilarious how people ignore this, and go on to say that the WiiU has a better line up than the PS4/One. I'm lucky that I also have a Ps4 to play multi-platform games, not many have that luxury.
5 - Their e-shop and account policies are ridiculous. I'm not even going to go into details, since it is a known matter.
6 - Their 2015 line-up is horrible. Let's be honest here, just Zelda Wii U and Splatoon look good. The competition has many incredible first and third paty games coming out.
7 - The price of thing is fucking ridiculous. It's price should already be $250 or lower. Currently you have to spend around $400 dollars if you want a game and an extra controller.

1. Yes, it's shit, so I use the Pro controller.
2. No exuse there, but doesn't affect me.
3. I bearly use the e-shop, I buy physical copies for the Wii U, if I need more storage I'll buy an external drive.
4. Don't really care about 3rd party, bought it mainly for Nintendo games. (Bayo 2 though (2nd party), GOTY right there)
5. Yes.
6. Zelda is all I need, have enough games on PC/PS4/XONE.
7. Could be lower yes, I don't care since I bought it day one.

I'm happy with my Wii U and any other game I care about is on PC. I have a PS4 but Sony hasn't given me any reason to use it over my PC yet.

The problem I have with this is that Nintendo could be a third party and produce just as many quality games. We shouldn't have to be stuck with a bad console.

That isn't true at all.

Nah, at least it has awesome games that I like. X1 has good games that I would buy if not for Microsoft, and the PS4 has...well, Driveclub.

People always act as if it's so clear that WiiU has the best lineup.

See...this is exactly why as far as consoles go though why I love my Wii U....it actually has different games. You are perfectly within your right to like those games better, but every single one of those games I can play on my PC, and they look better then they do on Xbox One too...it's not as if I spent a ton on my PC either...I think I spent maybe $500 on it last year, and got my gtx 760 for about $150 from a private seller.

HDMI out to my TV, and I'm loving my PC more than what either one of these so called "next gen" consoles can offer.

The Wii U has been the only current gen system worth owning in my experience. Next year I'm hoping something catches my eye for ps4 as well.

I never get the gamepad hate, feels great to me and whenever I'm using a controller without a screen I always catch myself looking down ;)

You bring up some good points. I agree with your first bullet point about the gamepad being the centered piece of the system. I would much rather be able to use the pro controller all the time. They really can't go back on this considering some games have the gamepad as the only supported controller. Nintendo still doesn't 'get' the internet, as they say, which is unfortunate.

Even if they did have third party support, I wouldn't buy them on Wii U personally. I want to play the game where it shines the best and since the wii u isn't as powerful as the others, most of them probably wouldn't be the best version on Wii U.

I don't understand why you added the price as a bullet point though. And concerns about their 2015 line up is based on perspective and what kind of games a person likes.

The amount of high quality games, while nice, doesn't make up for its shortcomings, imo.

I always said the OS and hardware is absolutely dreadful, I mean inexcusably bad for something released in 2012. It's worse than some Chinese knock offs.

But the games? Nintendo really brought out their magic. The best Nintendo console for Nintendo games ever IMO.

Not a single exclusive on that list.

So? Does that change it from being the best console lineup in 2014?

I also don't necessarily think WiiU is a good console for all Nintendo fans. I am a Nintendo fan and my favorite franchises are Zelda and Metroid. I will likely buy a Wii U for Zelda, but I don't like how people just say "Wii U has the best lineup" as if it is a fact.

From a pure hardware/OS perspective you're right, but game library wise I'd say you're wrong.

Even without 3rd party software it's still got a pretty good library. I put it above the PS4 but below the Xbox One at the moment (library wise).

Before I start giving the reasons for the title of the thread, and before you guys get your pitchforks out, I just want to say that I have been a Nintendo fan for almost 20 years. The company and its games hold a special place in me.

But man the Wii U, were do I start? I bought the console in late 2013, and at the time I knew what I was getting into. I did it for the games, there was no way I could regret it I thought. How wrong was I at the time. I played the console for awhile, but its limitations and missteps slowly started to show their ugly face. Let's start:

- The gamepad has to be one of the worst controllers I've ever used. I can't think of any redeeming qualities. It feels cheap, it feels uncomfortable, it should had never been part of their Wii U strategy. The fact that it can't be disabled, and you need it for access some Wii U setting makes all this matter more aggravating.

I do not hate the thing, I just needed to vent since I constantly read in Gaf that it is the console to have and that people are "idiots" for not buying it. How can they ignore the consoles glaring issues?

NOPE. Xenoblade Chronicles X redeems any console lineup. Plus Zelda and Starfox.
The Wii U is the greatest secondary console to ever exist.

I understand where you're coming from. Most of what you're saying is true. But you gotta learn Nintendo is gonna Nintendo. Not to say it's justified, rather you should just expect it.

The problem I have with this is that Nintendo could be a third party and produce just as many quality games. We shouldn't have to be stuck with a bad console.

You can say the same thing of any console. Imagine what uncharted 4 at 60fps could look like on good hardware (gaming grade pc) for example.

Until that happens, exclusives is how console boxes differentiate each other. If you want thoa games you buy the box. That's all.
