No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

So it sounds like getting to the center of the galaxy transports you to another galaxy and eventually you will get to the center of the universe, correct? The leaker sorta made it sound like getting to the center of the galaxy is the end game, but from the interviews I got the impression that the center of the universe is the goal, not the galaxy.

My biggest disappointment is definitely every planet he landed on had Life. So obviously the 90% barren of any life was complete crap, or they decided to change it.

Finding life should be exciting. Most planets having critters running around seems ridiculous.

This is the only thing I'm disappointed about. I really hope it is either not true or they plan on tweaking the game still. I was looking forward to trying to survive on a barren, hostile world. Everything else, such as the bugs, is in line with my expectations. Like most games, there will probably be even more bugs once it releases.

Remember, there is a decent chance he has the june 21 build.

The leaker says there is no 'universe'. Seems like you get a new galaxy to work through (NG+) with no overarching 'universe' goal beyond that.

There is no concept of universe in the game, but there are multiple galaxies.

Did he say how much there is in terms of civilization? Is it just trade posts, fleets of ships, and the occasional building/ruins on a planet? Not even a small town of people like in minecraft?

you arent disapointed that he hasnt died once in over 30 hours of gameplay ?
or that all the space stations are the exact same thing ?

Can't really say. We've seen a sort of small town I suppose. One with two or three buildings that consisted of a sort of "town hall", a factory and a landing pad. There has been screenshots of very large buildings so maybe they'll have more going on inside.

Isn't a retail copy? I mean the same one we will have minus the hypothetical day one patch.

yeah. this isn't some shady bootleg beta copy. this is the real game, minus whatever bugfixes happen with the release patch.

this is like MGS5's "the real ending is in a patch" theories

What I get is there's no center of the universe to eventually get to, just more (infinite) galaxies

I'm excited about this game and I've already pre-ordered it, but I'm starting to get seriously worried that the haters are right and this is Spore 2.0

People assuming things left and right.

Let's wait for the review embargo, and for more people to post their impressions, before we really start the freakout.

I wonder if each galaxy will have different variables to make their planets noticeably different from the galaxy you came from beforehand. Otherwise it seems like there'd be no discernible difference from traveling to the next galaxy when you still have 100 billion planets left to explore in your starting one.

Oh come on.

If you're serious: have you read anything in this thread at all? The game is exactly what we were told it would be (bugs aside).

If you're not: haha.

Yes, and the next galaxy will have slightly stranger creature and planets and so on and so forth. Imagine it this way:

NG+ > NG++ > NG+++ > NG++++ > etc.

Wait, the guy didn't die in 30 hours, on his first time playing??

So when they said "Survive." They were just telling you "yea, you survive". :)

Nope. They are likely a better player than I and I suspect that I will die more. If not, it isn't a big deal to me. I also never thought the space stations and NPCs were going to be all that detailed anyway. Maybe a few variations, but nothing close to something like Mass Effect.

I don't think it's that crazy. I'm willing to leave open the possibility that the day 1 patch changes a lot about the game, but if the game ends up being pretty much what the leaker is saying, it sounds like there is much less variety and challenge than was promised. He's been playing the game for 24 hours and he's already reached the center of the galaxy? And that's pretty much it? Hard not to see that as a disappointment.

It can't be spore 2.0 because is basically what we've seen in trailers and what the developers (several times) have said. Spore was a butchered game that was nothing like its trailers

Sounds good to me but all I wanted was a game that let me chill out and explore. The center of the galaxy could be Goatse and it wouldn't bother me.

I would be happy if it was just a black hole that transported me to another galaxy over and over. I don't need some happy ending or resolution to a game like this. It's meant to just come back to and play over and over.

The center of the first galaxy. There are more.

And no, the patch won't change the core gameplay or structure.

And yes, you are crazy xD.

This thread man. Why some guys are so eager that this game sucks? Instead of looking the bright side of things -in this game- there are complains about bugs (day one patch), the game is too "real" because planets are barren and lonely. I don't get it man, isn't this what the developers said about the game?

I lost my interest about this game because the overexposure, but a cool guy make a cool thread about exploration and my hype went up. A space sim with and awesome soundtrack and people want more? More things?

edit from above:

But what's the point of getting to new galaxies if they don't offer anything more than the first one did? Ok, so you can explore more planets, but why? People in this thread are already coming up with better ideas for what the overall arc of the game could have been rather than what it seems like is here.

The plot of the game is to explore, trade, survive and fight. You need more?

I hope I'm wrong. Maybe the leaker is just a cynical soulless husk of a human and is understating things, but if the game is what he's saying taken at face value, it seems pretty thin. I've already put down my $60 regardless and although I could easily cancel it, the hype and zeitgeist of this thing is going to be too much for me not to see, even if it ends up being disappointing.

I never got the hype surrounding NMS. The idea behind the game is indeed amazing, but it woulnd´t work without a lot of weapons, planets with a shit ton of things to do, base building, tons of spaceships and so on. The budget would need to be huge. From the leaked videos we have seen it looks like the game only has the collection part - you collect minerals, upgrade some stuff, done. I mean, I also dont understand how a developer with no amazing track record at all - that worked on Joe Danger (which is a cool game) - can get this amount of hype.

You bring up a point; people confusing what they want in the game with what is actually there, and then feeling betrayed when those things just don't exist. Although the 4 recently released trailers felt weird, they really did show you what you do in the game. There are more things that you can do that aren't in the trailer, but they do a good job of showing what is in the realm of possibility. I'm looking forward to it more than I originally was because of that one 26min video, and nearly everything he did in it was shown in those 4 trailers, barring the quick cuts.

oh so now you are making stuff up without any proof ? nice :)

I'm not making stuff up, that's how I'm seeing it. I've been discussing the structure of this game for months largely because of the slight confusion between galaxy and universe. For me there was only one solution, a solution that has now been verified. I was right.

Now we been told that the galaxy this guy travelled through didn't change the planets drastically. We also know that Sean said as you get closer to the centre things change drastically. There's a contradiction there, right? Why assume Sean is lying and why assume the player is lying? How can we square that if both are saying different things? Easy:

What we've been thinking Sean means is the planets change drastically within the same galaxy but he used 'universe' which was the confusion. The player is telling the truth about the first galaxy not changing much and Sean is telling the truth about the Universe changing as we get closer to the centre. So, each galaxy is a level leading us to the centre of the universe.

NG+(strange) > NG++(stranger) > NG+++(strangest) > etc

I drew the conclusion because of lateral and logical thinking, nothing else. I'm not making it up, I'm using my brain.

I don't understand the leaker's description of the galaxy's shape.
Daymeeuhn said:
Here's the thing - the center isn't really in the middle of a circle. Everything we're working with is flat. There aren't less planets near the edge - there are as many planets 1000 light years from the center as there are 40,000 light years from the center. This is why you won't just bump in to your buddies when you're close.
There is no middle. It's a straight line across.

What the hell does this look like?

Where are you hearing this? Because I hear the opposite and THAT'S the disappointing part.

By what he wrote, the game "ends" at the center of the galaxy? Or there something akin to ng+? Also, its weird to think nothing really changed much or become "crazier" while he was reaching the center.

except the leaker said 2nd galaxy is the same as the first.

the problem is the way you are expression your "theories", you make them sound as fact. and your facts are crontadicted by what the guy who did play the game is saying. you havent seen anything man, strop trying to pretend you know how the game works.

I've responded saying there are multiple galaxies - that should paint enough of a picture for you to see what I'm saying.
Yeah, anyone that thinks I'm done with the game is out of their mind. This post was just meant to give an update of "hey, hit center, now this is what's next" since people wanted a 30-40ish hour update. It just happened to coincide with the fact I reached center around that time.

Certainly points to the get to the end/start of a new beginning theory that people are speculating on.

I think people to relax though. Just wait to play and enjoy the game. Don't freak out and overreact a week before getting the thing. But at the same time, reel in your expectations and don't go all nuts about ascribing things to the game that aren't there. At the end of the day, it's just a game, not the be all and end all to everything. If you go in, watch the vids, read the spoilers and find the game's not for you, that's perfectly fine too.

I don't understand the leaker's description of the galaxy's shape.

What the hell does this look like?

There's so much that seems contrary to what HG has said up to this point... it really makes me wonder if they purposely nerfed the GM version in case it leaked like this, releasing the "real" version in a patch.

lol at the guy spending two grand on a game and calling it disappointing.

I don't think he called it disappointing?

Also, regarding the different build, just want to make sure I have no idea if it is. Someone floated it in the Reddit thread.

I'm most interested in the seemingly broken upgrades. It doesn't make sense. He says they every upgrade he tried (he didn't try them all) made his gun worse. That seems like either it's a huuuuge oversight for a release version, or he completely is missing some core mechanics, or he's just got a broken build.

I don't understand why so many people say that the planets would get crazier near the center as if it was fact, especially considering that we don't even know what the center is. It may be a supermarket brand cake with a message to another person, not you, written on it topped with your mothers tears because she really wanted to do something nice for you and still messed up. It could be a sick spaceship too tho.

Dude, none of that has been verified yet.

What the hell does this look like?

I guess this means that the galaxy is equally dense everywhere, so the distance between stars on average is the same at the edges as the center. Which also means you don't get the "feeling" of getting closer to the center - you just follow the line through what feels like a star field of equal density everywhere.

So he landed on exactly the same planet?

That's so stupid I don't even know where to begin. Why would they intentionally "nerf" the GM version considering there are tons of people without internet connections on their PS4 and no way to get the patch?

Yeah, how can his new galaxy be 'the same' if it is a different galaxy? Does he mean the planets look exactly the same so far and that there is not much variety in the asset combinations?

I know it's stupid but there's a big part of me that doesn't want to believe the game is what the leaker says, because it doesn't sound all that interesting

I think what they mean is that everyone encounters each new galaxy in the same order. One long chain.

So it's not the same galaxy as the first, but it is the same galaxy that everyone will get to as their second one.

Supposedly.
