No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Pretty much. Feels like they priced it a $60 because they knew hype was high. Even the Witness was dinged for being $40, even though that was the right price for that game imo.

if both the witness & ratchet & clank could release for $40, this game could've, too. they just got greedy :) ...

It is pathetic people are thinking CAMP from OS (the one that sold it to the leaker) is making it up.

A little fun fact about OS, people who have been members there for years, know of CAMP, and how good he is at at getting early copies. Hell, that whole site has been known for years in scoring early copies of games with a dedicated thread for it, and people all over with good connects.

Sometimes more so than other online communities in my 10+ years being there.

Never heard of this place, what is it? How do you know it's legit?

Haha, no probs. If this game got death threats over the delay press article, imagine how insane it is going to get over it not matching impossibly high expectations from years of press interviews.

I saw one thread where somebody said the leaker MUST be wrong about something because Sean said a feature would in the game.. In a throw away sentence from an interview years ago. And the feature ain't there. And that can't possibly be true.. Because.. That sentence from 2014 said they were working on it.

Basically: oh boy. This is going to be INSANE.

I'm still not able to comprehend how people can put so much of their actual selves into a game...Like, we're seeing people who tie the success of NMS to how they feel about themself as a person, it's crazy. On top of that it's a good lesson in why getting on hype trains doesn't do much good. I realized early on this game wasn't for me, but the people selling it (officially or not) didn't do anything to keep expectations realistic, and I think even if the game is amazing it's going to let down a ton of people. I don't know if that's a valid strategy from a business perspective, the numbers will reveal that, but it seems like it's ultimately short sighted (see Molyneux).

How much testing could they really have done on this game? Probably should have done incremental releases through free public betas. Seems like the way to go these days.

That's the thing. Some of the issues reported, namely the mutitool getting worse as you level it, seem really, really obvious. You shouldn't need an army of QA or two rounds of betas to catch something like that (I would think). Meh, we'll see.

I'm getting the feeling this game is going to be like Scribblenauts for me. I loved Scribblenauts, it's exactly what I thought it would be and I had a ton of fun with it, playing non-stop until I got all the stars. But because it was ludicrously overhyped, everyone thought it was disappointing because it wasn't perfect, or live up to some imaginary ideal. There's too much hyperbole surrounding this game already, both ways. It's impossible to have a sensible discussion about the game any more.

Just wait till other people with leaked retail copies start flooding Reddit and confirm that no, the game is kind of a buggy mess pre-day 1 patch.

(Might also be a buggy mess post-day 1 patch)

I am still confused at all the backlash, it looks like everything I wanted from the game. The new streamer is still on a planet no one has ever seen before, exploring the frontier with awesome atmosphere. If the game only did that with no other systems in place like upgrades, that might even be worth the purchase price for me.

You price at what you feel the market will bear. I'm sure it will sell very well at this price point based on hype regardless of if it matches the hype. It literally doesn't matter if they get "dinged" for it as long as that ding doesn't come in the form of significant sales that they can't make up later on discounted pricing.

I'll certainly be disappointed if you can't get bigger ships with larger cargo space. One of the fun things about space games is going through an upgrade path for different types of ships.

Operation Sports is the place to go for sports gamers. Been a member for over 10 years. EA, Sony, 2K devs, etc., all have accounts there. They frequent the forums/community and post topics there for feedback on the games and what gamers want in the next year's version.

I took part in several focus test/community events from being hand selected by Sony San Diego devs, to fly out there and work with them on MLB The Show.

The site was around long before GAF. I don't understand what you mean by legit?

Hell, some of my posts from there, have been linked in here for The Show years ago, before I heard GAF, lol.

Yeah, there's all this background noise reddit stuff, and then you watch a stream and it all looks awesome . :)

Edit: Euclid galaxy again, so everyone starts in the same place.
I had to stop watching but just that was enough to still have my hyp levels as high as ever. And yup it looks like its as sean said and everyone will start in the same galaxy. Cant wait to see the crazy shit people find when so many people head out into the galaxy for the first time.

Wowwowowowowowowowowoowow

Day 1.

The dude is just mining asteroids and flying around in space. SOLD SOLD SOLD

I must stop watching...ahhhh

I wonder if seans "it gets weirder the further you go" meant galaxies and not planets. Maybe...maybe theres something at the end of the galaxies!

Thanks! I just didn't know what the place was, that makes sense.
