No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

I don't recall him ever making absolute claims about any of those things.

See above post.

I did. And he was saying a bunch of that shit on reddit and in his streams a few days ago. Yes he was right, but he sure was wrong about a ton.

He was ragging on the amount and variance of lifeforms, ship variety, multitool types and uses, suit and starship inventory. All because he didnt a) explore enough; or b) because he was doing it wrong; So he was saying that it wasn't in the game.

I wonder if they're gonna wipe all discoveries before the official launch date. I remember in that one IGN video, Sean said the filter wasn't active, Ryan wanted to essentially name everything dirty and Seam remarked about having to reset it or something.

It's refreshing to watch someone who is actually playing the game. He just set that marker, saw a little outpost on the way and was like "Oh, this looks cool." and stopped to check it out. Awesome!

P.S.
FUCK! these are really planet sized planets for real. Hype!

Would you mind pointing me to those games? Do they also have exploration?

I would consider Minecraft, Starbound, Banished and Don't Starve to be games where half if not more of the game is based on gathering resources. The difference that i have seen between those and NMS is BUILDING and SOCIAL ASPECTS.

From what I have heard, you may never see any other players in NMS and there are no base building (maybe ship building)

Unfortunately, to me it is not a game that looks that interesting...

Exploration can be had in all of the games I had mentioned as well.

Yes, we know. This is a SP game.

The focus here isn't really gathering resources but rather exploring space. Resources are a mean to an end, just like in other games you mentioned.

But yes, if you want something social and building-oriented, steer clear from NMS.

I've been enjoying the BigTiggles stream so far! He's done a really good job and showing what this game is good at! Cleary the exploration element is handled very well, I think it's just a question of how much enjoyment you will get out of it.

Those games all have a standard set of creatures though so you will never discover anything surprising passed a certain point. I guess it depends on what you're looking for but NMS could have additional things to offer.

People should really know if they are going to like it by now or not. There is a ton of content out there, as well as the streams. Basically people just want to be told what to do.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. In any of those games, you won't run into giant carnivorous cave mushroom monsters, in a cave with giant glowing stalagmites and a water entrance that takes me to an outdoor lake where my spaceship is waiting, and the planet the moon I am currently on is orbiting takes up 75% of the night sky, so I decide to fly to it and it's covered in dinosaur like monkeys.

If that doesn't sound like it would be interesting to you, then absolutely this game isn't for you.

Well I kinda thought at the start of this generation ps4 would finally be rid of that.......

This is not rendered like most other games, ps4 or otherwise it's going to happen because of the unique nature of the game. Not to pile on you here, but complaining about pop-in in a game where you can fly uninterrupted between planets through their atmosphere is missing the forest for the trees.

Okay so going to
Atlas stations gives you a ton of race words and upgrades

I know spoiler thread but still, being nice.

There was some modest evidence of ship specialization in the current stream: a fighter-like ship came with combat laser upgrades, and a trader-like ship came with mining laser upgrades.

Dude. It depends on how much you're asking it to do. If you're talking rendering Morrowind, then sure, but this is more demanding.

Wait, were you being sarcastic?

Ok cool. Hope you find some games you like.

I'll be honest, I canceled my preorder, re-ordered, canceled, and the re-ordered all in the last 48 hours. What is wrong with me? I am getting this game it looks fucking awesome. Thank you to the latest stream. Now I wish I could find a preorder for the collector's edition.

He claimed he visited 40 to 50 planets. That isn't an insignificant number. So it shows that some may have more variety when playing.

Plus he seems to be right about every planet having life. I believe Sean said 90% barren, 9% simple life and 1% lush worlds. Pretty much every planet at least falls into the 9% category.

I'm still excited to play the game, but I admit it's a bummer for me that every planet has life on it. Seems a tad ridiculous. It's a game though, so whatever.

Visitin 40-50 planets is basically nothing in a galaxy. If he only stopped at 40-50 then as he seemed to admit, he wasn't even bothering with the main aspect of the game at a point and was just making a mad dash to the core. I'd guess the average player will have visited hundreds of planets before reaching the core unless they also race to it and barely stop anywhere.

Loving everything. Everytime I start watching the stream I get excited and close it. Lol. Want to play it now. The one thing that slightly bothers me is having to open your menu to refill/reload your stuff. But that's just a minor thing. :)
