No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Wait, so we already know whats in the center of the galaxy?

A portal to another galaxy?

With the amount of planets in one galaxy, what changes in the second?
I dont think we know whats there? Maybe we do? I dunno. But afterwards you go to another one but we dont really know anything about it besides one guy saying it seemed about the same as the first one with the short time he spent there.

Reading this thread (and all NMS threads) whilst on holiday in Greece is going to be tough, I'm not sure how I'll cope waiting until I get back.

Fuck dude, i'd give a kidney to be chillin' on the greek islands right now. Went there last year, it's amazing.

The virtual world can wait.

It really isn't. Not statistically. Not when 1% means 10,000,000,000,000,000 planets, and 9% means 1,620,000,000,000,000,000 planets

Wait. So you are saying that the people playing have all just been super lucky and hit the 10% planets every time? If 90% of the planets indeed have no life, then certainly some should have been found in the 100 or more shown already.

Hitting the 10% each time seems like very long odds. I think it's more likely that most if not all planets will have at least some life.

Or maybe it's a glitch or something. Remember some planets have had the description saying "flora none" while the player is looking at plants and even sometimes animals in front of him.

Plants are flora though, fauna are animals. But yes even on the fauna: none planets, some videos have depicted basic animal life.

Haha gotta love that 'Gender: Exotic' tag

Well he is not the only one with the game but the only one to reach the center.
He has spefically stated he does not want to be the guy who spoils the center.

Man, usually I hate spoilers.

But I'm so freaking curious to see what's in the center of the galaxy and since I'm going to be loosing myself exploring every planet I encounter, I figure I will reach the center in the next...year or so :|

So ugh.... what happens if you get killed in the game?

Just re-spawn? Any penalties or anything of that sort?

If you're on a surface, you lose your carried inventory and must go back to where you died to recover it (I think. I saw the prompt pop up telling a streamer that after he died).

If you're in space, you spawn at the nearest station with the most basic ship.

Gets attacked by a pirate, flies into the station, pirate docks as well and makes an offer to buy pirate's ship.

He was a jr, so he's gone gone :(

Wait. Forever gone?

NOOOOO GRIBBLLEEEEE

To be fair, the guy was constantly warping the discussion to center on his pet theories. He needed some time to chill.

Sucks if he's gone gone, though. Be cool out there, Gribble. Pay your bills before you buy NMS.

Yeah he deffo got very indulgent and frequently. Not to back-seat-mod, but honestly he just needed a slap on the wrist.

Och well

I'm never going in the sea in NMS.

I am phobic of depths at the best of times.

Several VR experiences have helped chill my bones a little, especially theBlu... But still. No escape no escape no escape no escape

IIRC, there is not "slap on the wrist" when you're still a junior member.

Sounds like it. Been a long time since I read the T&Cs.

Guys, sorry to ask again:

Are the planets acutally really rotating? The sun, in the sky, is it really the "helium ball" which I can see from the planets surface and I can fly towards this?

Or is the sky on planets or in the solar sysems like a big ass skybox bubble surrounding the planet or the solar system???

Gribble will be back guys.

Didn't want to post in here because my excitement is too much right now but fuck it, here I am!

These black holes. Can they push us further away from the center or do they drag us closer?

I think there has been a few cases where it was a post count that was keeping them in JR but they'd been a member for longer than the time requirement or something similar, but yeah mostly one and done I think.

Im def still Jr cause of post count, been on here ages.

I still have to figure out if the "one galaxy at a time" (at least that's what I got out of it) thing bothers me or not.

Part of me rationally concludes we couldn't have it any other way (I mean, every galaxy is made of billions of stars anyway, that's big enough to lose yourself in), but on the other hand even opening a "complete" universe map and looking for galaxies on the other side of the universe and getting ridiculous estimated time of arrival, or seeing users billions of kilometers away on the map would've been an interesting experience.

Also, the lack of such map (right? am I up to date with spoilers?) also implies you don't choose your next galaxy either.

There seems to be this idea that no matter how far they claim to send you, you always end up about 700 LY closer to the center. I don't know if that's been verified though.

He's got a weird bug where he's locked in a room, the door needs a key he doesn't have. He has no way out as it saved in the room.

Well, if it hasn't already been patched in the upcoming update that's something to let Hello Games know about.

Edit: He seems to be out now.

Planets rotate I think. A guy tried to fly towards a sun on a stream last night, but gave up after 5 million miles, must have taken 20 minutes or so. The Sun didn't look any bigger, but I imagine it's doable.

Yep, he managed to get out after much time by loading a prior save. It was a stupid bug where the game let him enter a room he didn't have a key to leave.

Oh yeah, but regarding the sun, I think the game probably blocks you from flying into it.

I think it's physically there but your ship 'compensates' away from it with thrusters so you never get dangerously close.

Seems to be the same shtick for oceans. Must have been a big source of frustration for playtesters in the alphas, flying into oceans/the sun by accident and ruining your ship for good.

Maybe I'm wrong but...

Wasn't there an early trailer a couple years ago where they showed a player rising up from underwater inside a ship, landing the ship on a shore and then exiting the ship and walking around looking at Dinosaurs?

I thought you could use your ship as a boat or submarine, but I guess not. Unless they changed their minds along the way.

/Shrug

The devs have said that the light/dark cycle on planets is determined by their rotation period, but IIRC from everything we've seen on streams they all appear to follow the same 24-hour cycle.

Supposedly you can fly to each system's star, but we haven't seen it happen yet. One streamer flew straight toward a star at top speed for quite a while and didn't even get close.

Pop in is the limitation of the PS4 and is necessary for the world they have created. I'll bitch and moan too, if the steam version is just as bad of a port.

Did we know about Radnox? (Exotic material)

I am wondering if it's simply about finding the right ship or upgrade. I think the trailer your describing might have been the first one we saw.

The pilot just walks out of the water here. We might be thinking of another one then.
