No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Not sure if posted but:

If you are reviewing/playing our game without our update, on a leaked copy, then please don't. It's not what players will experience.

Downgrade imminent fuck these goddamn lazy devs

But seriously yessssssssssss. I am so excited for this game.

I wondered if they'd let us know what it's supposed to change but then I realized we're technically not supposed to even know what's in it now so that'd be kind of dumb.

Maybe they'll release details on the patch notes on release day.

I'm interested in the what fixes/rebalances are included as well.

I'm uploading flora and fauna left and right. I don't care if it gets wiped Sunday it's been my favorite thing to do so far. Plus I accidentally named the system Ninj when I meant Ninja. I spent 2 hours wandering around the first planet just in the relative close vicinity of my ship.

But now I'm trying to get to some beacon that's looks to be underground. When I landed nearby my ship was 3/4 into the surface which looked glitched so I hope i can proceed.

I have this on steam ready to go, but I really dont know if I want to wait 4 days for it to release (In aus so its released here on the 13th)

Could be on the other side of the planet.

Could be on the other side of the planet.

Well it says "arrive in 0:02" when I hover over the icon, so I know it's close. Could be that I'm just dumb and there's a hatch or something.

No big deal either way, especially if all this gets reset. I'll just explore more, which is what I like anyway. I haven't looked at the trophies yet but all I have is one so far and like 8 in-game milestones.

I really doubt the patch changes will be all that significant. I imagine most of the major showstoppers like the water creatures spawning upside down in shallow water and the beam bugs will be sorted, but I would really not expect any, like, wild surprises.

When it was announced a month ago they called it an update, not a patch. It might be semantics but I think it'll be more than just bug fixes.

Yeah, but why would a patch that solves minor bugs and glitches take a month to produce? They've been *apparently working on this patch since July 7th/8th. There has to be more to it.

Me too. Certainly the water creature thing, and stuff like the ship sinking into the ground. There could be some minor performance fixes too.

But it does also say some balancing fixes, and content. Although in this game it's entirely possible you won't even see the content.

I remember Doom's day 1 patch gave a massive boost in performance, and added new options (FOV slider for one).

It could be things that people were worrying about being "missing" like ships having different classes.

I really don't think a simple patch is going to add long promised features, much less ones like that.

It's possible that the Certified copy was simply the base game at it's base that they had to push out for certification/printing, whilst the update they've been working on this past patch was really the key in implementing alot of major things that were missing from the basic build?

I could be spitballing.

I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong but I can't see this as anything more than wishful thinking.

That'd be fucking terrifying. If you have no internet access, you ain't getting huge portions of content.

Which is why I'm hesitant because I don't think HG would even do such a thing.

I think we should settle on bug fixes and MAYBE some content here or there, minimal at best. We might hit a territory of overhype that'll spin this game into something it's not or doesn't have.

Yeah so your not there. I think its over the horizon tbh.

Im sorry Iamrobs, you do you by all means. But when you ask for help then don't listen, I gotta bail out man. I tried.

It could be things that people were worrying about being "missing" like ships having different classes.

Just occurred to me there are 3 'classes' in the game. That is scientist, trader and warrior - Korvax, Gek and Vykeen. With their own ship designs, so maybe this was what was implied.

They mentioned that it was a feature filled patch, and honestly the fish spawning bugs would not be the effort spent fixing it now, it would be low priority.

I imagine bug fixes here and there, but mostly the more significant things, like tweaking the palette and maybe more teach.

Wow. I mean, could an update make for such a wildly different experience? What I'm seeing is already fantastic. I'll be interested to see what exactly the big difference is.

Changing the Exploit Daymeeun used would do that for starters.

Also - fixing the flora/fauna counter issue & hostile environment settings would make dying a lot more likely.

Those would be pretty impactful on the player experience and aren't big changes.

Well I played a few hours in its current state. I know a reset is coming and figured I'd still spend the weekend enjoying it. Even with the pop in the sense of scale is incredible. Only been on gigantic planet with dinosaurs, the smaller moon around that with no life, and then one more ice planet and I'm impressed so far. It's what I expected it to be. Hell Yeah.

The way they outlined one of their last major tweets was..
Lots of new features, balancing and content

And now they're asking Reviewers to wait for the patch before passing judgement? I don't think they would turn to outright lying about what they're saying(Unless they're panicking, but for the past 3 years they've been humble?).

Like, this might be wishful thinking, but the retail disc simply has a game that works with a loop to it and basically all the important content/assets to generate worlds.

They did mention that the install size was around 6 GB-
For those asking - size of No Man's Sky on disc is just 6GB. A lot of that is audio (⌐■_■)

And that isn't true, it's around 4.4. They should've said around 5 GB if that was the case. It's a minor detail, but they might've been adding the disc+first update planned and said that was on disc(And if there were no leaks, and they released the patch by Sunday/Monday, then it'd be truthful that it'd be around 6?)

This is just me surmising information of what we've seen, and what they've said, and trying to think about why they would say some things that didn't seem truthful. It could be release jitters and them panicking, but asking reviewers to not judge/review the unpatched version and saying they're wiping servers makes me think otherwise?

I dunno. Just spitballing. Call me Sherlock if something comes out of this.

Thing is - who has no access to the internet, ever, yet has a PS4? You don't need to play online, just download the update.

I mean the game as it is, is perfectly playable.

Well, 'on the disk'. Maybe the whole game doesn't install.
