Anyone think the Harvey Birdman will be good for the Wii?
I'll give that a shot as a PW fan, not sure what to expect, though.

Well, about 2 months after I preordered from Crapcom, and over 1 months since receiving the plush preorder bonus, I FINALLY got my copy of the game today.

Fuck me.
I got the bonus today. Still no game. Not too upset as I haven't completed the other two yet.

I absolutely agree, and I've been struck by that since the first game. Damn, so much awesome characters, such an intense atmosphere, and yet every one of them only has like 4 or 5 sprites to them, and half the gifs you can find on the internet have more frames per seconds. So much awesome tunes, and yet only midi musics.

And this is one of the most immersive games I've ever played. That's all kinds of confusing.
QFT

this game had loads of charm and the text is what really brought the characters to life. i had voices in my head for every character imagining how they would sound. hopefully they keep it the same way for the rest of the series as it moves on to being developed for DS hardware. all we need is higher res sprites and some new music, but they should bring back some of the old tunes too.

the only thing i didnt like about this game was a certain part in case 5 when they were talking
about how they got the body over the burning brigde. i know phoenix wright is a game and doesnt have to be hyper realistic but cmon, swinging it across the bridge by a rope?
other than that, all 3 games were fantastic and this has become one of my favourite trilogies ever.

That's it.
First of all, I'm a HUGE Phoenix Wright fan. But I'm sick of NoE release policy

I had to import PW1 from the UK because they just wouldn't release a version for germany for ages.
With PW2 it got better.
AND NOW PW3 ISNT EVEN MENTIONED on the release list and it even seems like Apollo Justice is coming out before PW3 does.

So I'm here to ask for a good place where I can import from the US to Germany. Anyone who can help me?

I wasn't a huge fan of the whole
throwing the body over the bridge by way of rope
either, but we're also talking about a game that deals with spirit channeling, and possessed people as well. I can suspend my disbelief for the joys that come from playing Phoenix Wright.

Capcom Store's customer service is insulting- I still haven't recieved my plushes, and every email I send just gets replied to by a form letter that has nothing to do with what I asked. I demanded compensation and they just told me the game (which I already have) shipped.

I am never dealing with the Capcom Store ever again, and my hope is that Capcom drops this travesty that is Digital River.

loved the first... grew disinterested in the second and never finished it. though i will be trying to finish it before playing three.
You really should play the 2nd before starting the 3rd. The 3rd doesn't have the same effect without playing both of the previous games first.

From what I've heard and read online, if you're a fan of the cartoon then you'll love the game otherwise I don't think you'll like it.

I bought pw 1 in stores. PW2 i got from play-asia (25€ at release (US Version))
And PW3 I got from play-asia, too, but this time it is the japanese version (which includes complete english text).

The next one I will purchase in english too. "press" is much better than "angreifen" and "objection" sounds much better then "moment mal" :D

I just finished the last chapter a couple days ago. It was amazing! I feel a little empty now that its over though. AJ:AA can't come soon enough.

Well, the bad boy is coming out in Early February, so a 1 1/2 month wait isn't that bad.

Finished it the other day. The only thing I was disappointed by was the whole
Phoenix having the hots for Iris when the series up to this point clearly favoured Maya.

I also read some spoilers RE: AA4 and Phoenix's role. Disappointmenton am total. :(

The games could also be seen emphasizing Mia and Phoenix. Maybe its just in Phoenix's genes to have the hots for Feys.

I can't think of a single point in any of the three games where Phoenix behaved in a manner that implied he had romantic feelings for Maya.

I didn't get to play this much during the school semester, so I'm having fun with it now. I'm on case 3 and it's way better than the first two cases so far. Victor Kudo's theme song owns. :D

Yeah, no "relationship" was ever hinted until the 3rd game. Though I can see people misinterpretating the ending of the 2nd game

I'm in agreement with the rest of the people. I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. She annoyed Phoenix about as much as she annoyed me.

But what I want to know is... was anyone else insulted by that whole plot twist you mention above? What an embarassing turn of events. I can't believe the writers were serious about it.

I don't know it seemed to me she liked him ever since the first game. But I guess that's just me.

I didn't like that plot twist, either. I just kind of rationalize it by saying
Iris is fucking delusional
since there's really not much to go on to say that Phoenix likes her more. Especially if you go by actions, since he does way more for Maya than anybody else in the series.

Oh, and I thought the first game and part of the third game sort of implied there was something between Mia and Phoenix, but it's not like that really exists. It's not like they could do anything like that in the series and crush all the creepy fangirls' dreams.

Um, hello? He didn't even know Iris. No shit he'll do more for Maya. And - um, hello? Maya is Mia's sister, I'm sure he wouldn't go the extra mile to make sure she doesn't die.

Pureauthor said:

Exactly, in the 3 games it showed that he had feelings for only one girl and one girl only

Dahlia
aka Iris pretending to be her evil twin sister, who in turn also fell in love with Phoenix Wright

Guybrush Threepwood said:
If the world of PW was the real world, I would totally go for Iris way before I went for Dahlia.

She isn't a murdering bitch and she looks better anyway.

Logically it makes sense since Iris is kind, gentle, and loyal compared to Dahlia who is conniving, twisted, and is willing to betray you at the drop of a bucket.

Oh yeah, and how can we forget that she
murdered 4 people, 5 if you include Armando.

It's more than that. He did stuff like
the "Special Course"
with Maya and Pearl, and always helps her out, even if it's reluctantly, beyond just when she's in serious trouble.

He might have had feelings for Dahlia, but I doubt he actually tries to stick with
Iris.

Not like any of this speculation matters, since I don't think he really ended up with anyone from the Fey family or their branches.

Mostly, I got it all from Pearl. I thought it was a "neither of them realise the truth yet" kind of thing. Oh well.

Lostconfused said:
Bah, the relationship between Phoenix and Maya is purely platonic and Pearl is just living in a fairy tale world.
please listen to this man's logic people. lets not try to make something out of nothing.

well, I'm speaking more from a retcon perspective. like they would probably make that the "relationship" if there is one between Phoenix and anyone, in GS5.

Well looking at the GS4 impressions thread, i wouldn't be too sure about anything.

Well, I'd been avoiding this thread to keep myself away from spoilers since it always takes me a bit longer to play through these than other people (I usually only play it "on the go" as it is) but now that I've finished and scan through impressions, I'm a bit surprised I'm in the minority for thinking the third game was somewhat disappointing.

Maybe it's just because I really thought Godot was boring, or maybe it's because the sequence of cases really seemed to be stretching out this long-winded connection, but overall I'm pretty sure the primary culprit was that the deductions left to the player felt more forced than ever. Constant monologues explaining the logic before asking you to present a fairly directed and extraneous evidence piece, instead of asking you to really figure something out on your own that had any sort of importance.

And, you know, mostly that's due to the fact that everything was so much more convoluted than necessary I guess....there really wasn't much hope of the player figuring out where they were going with things otherwise this time. They really leave the player in the dark about virtually all of the pertinent evidence necessary until the last possible second, which makes it less of a "murder mystery" and more of a "digital novel" than ever before. Most of the cases seemed to revolve around a central plot so much more than the clues, and really I just thought the whole central arc lacked the punch or interest to receive that much attention.

The game certainly has it's moments, such as the awesome appearance of FVC and Edgeworth, but in the end, I just felt that it lacked the cleverness of the first two games in regards to cases, and failed to introduce any new characters to keep it feeling fresh with "human interest."

Oh well. It was still a fun experience, and I'm a bit sad that it's over...but I think I'd rank this game significantly lower than the first two nonetheless.

I too felt Godot was boring mostly until the last 2 cases. He really turned it around for me at the end though. I wonder what ever happened to him. If I had to rate prosecuters it would be Edgeworth>>>>>>>>>>>>>Godot>Manfred Von Karma>Franciska.

I played through the whole trilogy (minus PW:AA case 5, since I actually feel like it fits in poorly with the PW trilogy) in order while I was visiting my family over christmas, and PW2 really did drag in a lot of points, mostly with bad investigations, which made me like 3 more.

3's trials weren't that great, but the investigations were a lot more fun for me than either 1 or 2, and since I really get into these more for the plot/crazy situations than figuring out who the murderer is (since that's usually obvious to me for some reason or another) I liked it.

then again, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief about the spirit channeling stuff, and I appreciated the fanservice present throughout the game.

I felt like Godot was interesting because instead of being like Edgeworth and Fran, and being obsessed with getting a guilty verdict, he just wanted to see Phoenix suffer. And he didn't try to pull any bullshit (aside from his "test" in case 5, though again, I can accept that) like Fran does in PW2, and drag out a trial by forcing you to use some evidence again at the end for a bullshit reason.

Hmmm...really? Wow.

I thought VonKarma was pretty fantastic, the ultimate "nemesis" of the series, and the only one that came off to me as intimidating in some sort of weird "end boss" kind of way when I had to defend against him. I kind of liked that, and bringing him down just felt very satisfying for some reason because of it.

Franciska had a lot of charm in her own way, and particularly in the ending of PW2 was pretty likeable. I suppose I didn't really realize how much she'd grown on me until she showed up in 3, however. Or perhaps she was just boosted by my feelings on Godot.

Edgeworth is almost outside of the spectrum, since his character is so much more appealing as a friend to Pheonix than as a nemesis, but I suppose he'd take the lead of the list if push came to shove on the decision.

But to use your notation, Everyone Else>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Godot in my book. I just really found him dull, and his revelations at the end of 3 just felt kind of forced and contrived, lacking in enough character development to really hit home.

Different Strokes, I suppose....

I think they tried to cram gimmicks into Godot's character to make it more memorable, i can think of only one, namely him doing impressions of characters in the first two cases, it seems like they were trying to do something but it just didn't go anywhere.

The only thing i liked about him was his theme and random coffee jokes. Which i guess pretty much all there is to his character.

Personally i think the final case in Justice for all is the Pinnacle of that relationship. Where their feeling towards the opposition or the outcome of the case is not the issue but rather through the efforts of both sides the truth becomes clear. I guess thats bit stuck with me since the second game i can't let go of it, i wish it would appear again.

Edit2: On a side note some interesting changes for the GS series would be, to play as a prosecutor (actually i expected that to happen with Edgeworth taking the center stage in GS3). And along with my previous point, defending an actual criminal where the trial is resolved not because of the guilty verdict (although it is a guilty verdict) but because the truth of the matter is revealed. No its not what you might be thinking, because in that case you were trying to get a guilty verdict, you were simply forced into defending him.

Actually some pages back I did some bitching about how much I disliked Godot. It's just those last 2 cases made me see Godot in a new light. Come to think of it your right about Manfred so i guess it should be more Edgeworth>>>>>>Manfred>>Godot>>>Franciska:D

Godot is no ace prosecutor for good reasons, and that is why I like him the least out of all the PW prosecutors. His questions and counters were weak and just didn't feel that challanging. Sure I was stuck plenty of times during PW3's trials, but I just feel Franciska/Edgeworth would have owned him in court.

The primary reason that Godot isn't an 'ace' prosecutor (GS4 spoiler:
And the same reason Gavin is considered disappointing as well
) is because he, by and large, fights fair, as opposed to Franziska's and Edgeworth's 'Oh, by the way, here's some information that'll completely turn the case around. Sorry I didn't mention it before, kthx'.

Also, Manfred von Karma is the best prosecutor ever, and a fitting 'final boss' for PW1.

Yeah, he's a decent final boss...until you meet the ultimate secret final boss, like all Capcom games!

Heheh, I love PW1's 5th case. It's very touching and I rank it my second favourite case right after PW2's 4th case.

I thought Franziska was a very flat character. She has almost no character development and everything about her was uber predictable. I mean, I just think that she was pretty boring until the 3rd game where she develops a little more during the game :-/

Edgeworth is the best since he gets the most development. I mean, the difference between him in 3 and him at the beginning of 1 is so huge >_<

Really? I thought the ending of Justice for All showed a lot about her character, much more than what was shown in Trials and Tribulations (basically fan service).

The whole point was that he never stopped loving her, because he knew that the Dahlia on the stand wasn't the real Dahlia, or rather, the real Iris - he never had feelings for Dahlia.
