No Wii U version planned for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Of course there's no Wii U version planned. They're not going to announce a Wii U version while 4U is in development.

Down the line after 4U 3DS is released, though? Bet on it.

Monster Hunter isn't as fun when you can't understand everything instantly.
I tried with 4, but that's just me.

Bought a Vita for Monster Hunter...
> Never arrived.
Bought a Wii U (mostly) for Monster Hunter...
> Played and enjoyed 3U was waiting patiently for 4/4U.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a 3DS and a circle pad pro then.

Until MH5 is announced for yet another platform.

I do that and then I gotta clean it off with a microfiber to get the fingerprint off, plus I risk scratching the screen. No thanks.

The screen can handle it.

Between the monster-centering option and the virtual D-pad camera control on the touchscreen for fine-tuning, camera control in Monster Hunter 4 is very easy, unless you're scared to touch a touchscreen with your thumb. You really don't need a Circle Pad Pro.

Dear Capcom. I want to play Monster Hunter on a TV with a comfortable controller. I do not want to play Monster Hunter on a hand held. That is all.

I wonder if this means that Capcom is already planning a Monster Hunter game for whatever console Nintendo plans to release after the Wii U and is simply using those resources for that instead.

That to me is about the only scenario that makes any sense at all...

Monster Hunter 3G and 4 were announced for the 3DS before the Vita was even released.

What in the heck were you thinking? That's your own bad.

Or they just won't release one for the Wii U because they don't think it will sell well, I don't see why that isn't one of the scenarios.

Also, they may just reveal it later on.

Agreed. I dont own a 3ds and have no plans to buy one.

I DO own a wii u and enjoyed monster hunter, and would buy MH4 if it was released.

I don't see why they would.

MoHu is still a Japanese franchise through and through, they ain't gonna shell out resources so they can appease some gaijins

Do Nintendo have any kind of exclusivity deal for monster hunter? I am curious why capcom are not releasing it on vita or playstations.

I assume its because they are targeting it at the single biggest market in japanese gamers, and perhaps figure that it wouldnt be profitable to try and segment that market between different platforms.

Capcom released MH for whatever is more popular.

They announced 3U for Wii U and 3DS at the same time... Cross-play and cloud sync were touted as big features.

Considering I already have MH4 for my japanese 3ds, and both 3 ultimate for both systems, Capcom could easily get 2 more sales out of me instead of just 1. It felt really good playing on an 80-inch screen.

Hope it comes to WiiU at somepoint. Not that I don't have a 3DS (i do) it's just the thought of putting 200hrs of monster hunter in on that analog nub makes my hands hurt.

4 years of Monster Hunter on a single platform.
Dunno what's so crazy about that.

To be fair, in terms of western releases it's less than that.

Monster Hunter 3G and 4 were announced for the 3DS before the Vita was even released.

Yeah I presumed (wrongly) that after the success of the Freedom series on PSP, we'd get portable sequels on the Vita. I'm sure Sony even showed Portable 3rd running on it (probably the PSP version) during the Vita reveal.

Like I said, I'll probably have to get a 3DS to play MH4U anyway, I gotta go where the series goes...

I'm a little disappointed, but fine with it nonetheless. MH4U will have online from the get-go on the 3DS, so it is one less incentive to pick a console version over the portable one.

I just hope that the text will be easily readable. I haven't played the 3DS version of MH3U, so I can't make comparisons, but the font size of the Wii U version was just too small, making it very hard to read (if not outright painful for my eyes). Sure, more often than not it isn't that big of a problem, but when browsing the armors and trying to read their skills (which were written in an even smaller font size), it was a difficult and tedious experience.

No interest then. Can't stand the control scheme without a second stick, and I'm not going to bolt on another stick to make it work. It's a real shame. I seriously enjoyed the Wii U version of the last game.

I'll be giving it a shot but I seriously doubt I'll be able to put the same amount of time into 4U as I did into 3U. It just blows my mind how Capcom seems allergic to giving the series decent controls.

What hurts the most is that this is what's going to happen. CAPCOM :/

Capcpom eyeballing them hardware sales mighty hard right about now.

Of course, it would take logic to send the game to a new platform (let's face it, ps4 is the only hope and it's not even doing great in japan). Let's not pretend that there's an ounce of logic to anything they do.

Having said that, subtracting logic from the equation, maybe there's hope for a vita release after all!

It looks GUD.

I wonder why noone want's to try the new charge axe... it's always the stupide insect staff :7
Boring weapon...

I have no problems playing MH3U on my 3DS, but I hope MH4U has the lock-on feature from MHFU iOS.

Mh4 didn't, and mh4u won't have it either.
I don't see the point to be honest. The game plays perfectly with the cpp.. I liked the controls in mh4 way more than those from the wiiu version. Probably because the bottom screen is just more useful in the 3ds versions of the game

It doesn't, of course.

There you are.

Don't you get tired of posting the same lie in every single MH thread?

Is it a lie, though? They certainly look like the PS2 assets.

Well, some people have 2ds' for example.

that was a totally different situation. The Wii U version had been out for months at that point in Japan, and the 3DS version had been out for years.

I still don't think a Wii U version is out of the question, but I never expected it to be available day 1. Although it'd be nice.

edit: on the subject of target lock I was able to play the MH3U demo with it just fine, since that didn't support the frankenstick. Once I got access to dual analogs I never touched it again though.

I'm personally planning to get a 3DSXL and CPPXL for 4U. Hoping for some kind of bundle.

I guess you haven't played ps2 in a while?

also mh4 doesn't have underwater combat. it's perfectly playable without the 2nd stick. Using the target camera is more than sufficient.
