The 'vote with your wallet' thing is exactly why Capcom is focusing on a 3DS version first The vocal cries here about a preference for WiiU did not reflect in actual sales.

I'm guessing that your "" means you know what I meant, but if not I mean not buy any version to show them that I'm not happy with their decision to not bring it to the Wii-U.

er, but it did reflect in sales, I dont know how much the 3DS version sold, but capcom has went on record and publically with pride said that the Wii U version has sold 500,000 copies worldwide, and this was like last year, so that number has even gone up, not only that, MH3U has benefited alot from the youtube community where channels like the game grumps made a miniseries out of it

*shipped. The 3DS version has shipped 2.4m copies worldwide in comparison. Also the sellthrough figures we have courtesy NPD also favour the 3DS version so far (240k vs 97k). Basically, a large percentage of the MH fanbase is okay with playing MH games on the 3DS. A WiiU version would be nice and all for those who are vocal about it, but the majority of sales are still going to be on 3DS and that's the message Capcom got from people who bought 3U.

It's not like it was a AAA title, nor does non-AAA titles require to sell a lot of copies to begin with.

Would it sell 500k though?
At retail, the 3DS game sold almost 3x more in the US, despite not having online.
Since this game does have online, I imagine the ratio would be more even more skewed in favor of 3DS.

No, I'm sure it was. I don't think buying shares in a company for the purpose of making them develop a non-AAA title with alright-ish sales would be very profitable for Nintendo, though.
