Nokia has opted for a 10.1-inch display on its Lumia 2520 with a body that’s styled just like a Lumia Windows Phone. It looks beautiful in red, white, cyan, and black. The easiest way to describe this device is just to imagine a rounded Lumia like the 720 and then increase it in size to 10 inches. It really takes Nokia’s design language and places it almost perfectly into a tablet form factor. The 1920 x 1080 display is perhaps one of the best I’ve seen on a tablet. Viewing angles are great and the brightness is equally impressive. Color reproduction is incredibly accurate, and it’s clear Nokia has really aimed high with the display on its first tablet.

No proper windows, no buy.
RT should just be killed already, especially now that you got proper windows 8 tablets coming out like the Dell Venue Pro 8 for only 299 USD.

Not only does the Dell Venue Pro 8 feature a stunning 8'' capacitive screen with active stylus support, but it has the same featureset as larger tablets - including the next generation of Intel Atom quad-core processing technology.

This assumes battery life is not a factor.

Honestly, after seeing some Surface 2 hands-on videos, I'm less and less convinced that I need anything more.

That Nokia tablet is a stunner.

The screen seems to be gorgeous and ultra bright, it's thin, it's colorful and snappy. I'm a sucker for these Lumia designs.

Will be hard to decide between a Venue 8 Pro, the 2520 and the Surface 2.

Also, the most underrated aspect of the presentation by far:

Dragons Adventure, which combines real life map data and a fantasy game for what seems to be a very novel experience.

... Dell sales rep, is that you?! :-P

Seriously, ya. I don't want RT. That's the only reason I didn't get a Surface.

Cant understand the rt hate.

Its an arm tablet. Why you think you need to run windows legacy apps is beyond me. No other tablet runs legacy apps. Why the double standard?

The Windows 8 app store has pretty much everything you need. The mobile IE is the best mobile browser out there. You can use desktop mode for file management/Office. Whats wrong with that? That's a positive.. not a negative.

The hate just makes no sense.

Most technologically savvy folks (like any NeoGAF users that would follow the launch and unveiling of this product) don't seem to like feeling like their being "gimped" out of anything. I don't think it's an entirely logical response, but more of a "it has less, so there must be something wrong with it" type of innate, gut driven response.

With that being the case, I feel like it's Nokia and Microsoft's jobs to showcase the value in such a product.

Do you work for Dell? Because your post sounds like it's straight from a marketer's mouth.

I think the reason this is RT is because they want to have a chance in the tablet space, try to overtake the iPads and the Samsungs and even the Nexus 7s. Using full fledged Windows 8 on these tablets will make them compete in a whole different category, which will also be more expensive.

Though, they really should call Windows RT 8.1 something along the lines of Windows Tablet 8.1 or whatever for proper differentiation.

Goddamn beautiful tablet. It's exactly what everyone was imagine when it leaked that Nokia was making a tablet.

Shame about RT though

Its pretty baffling really. Most of these same people would be fine using an Ipad or android tablet and not complain. Yet with RT it somehow is too tablet and they need full windows.

As it stands any decent Windows 8 tablet will be like $800 dollars (see surface pro) and on top of that has crap battery. RT is the right choice for a sleek, good battery tablet.

What pc games do you think are going to run on a low powered x86 tablet?
Fuck.. all..

What are you gonna fire up on that bay trail tablet? Duke Nukem?

Huh. I love my 620, so this is very interesting. Still holding back on the tablet purchase because I really don't need one but I might push if this is reasonable.

It's not a double standard if I want to run legacy Win apps on my iPad/Nook, too. All of the app stores are missing programs that perfectly meet my needs, usually in varying ways. If MS wants me to jump ship to a platform with even worse selection then backfilling that with legacy support is how they can entice.

The GOG PnC library basically obliterates the App/Play store selections; the most recommended games are usually ports from that category.

I dunno, like 90% of my Steam library since I mostly play adventure games? :-P

My use case isn't exactly optimal, but hey that's what I want. Hell if it ran Civ V (and I'm assuming most will since it's optimized for 8), that'd be cake.

Then buy a surface pro or all the other FULL windows tablets. And then come back to us and complain about price / battery life and so forth.

iPad 3 and HTC One owner here...oh how I would love one of these alongside a Lumia 1520 to go with it. Nokia know how to create some truly beautiful hardware these days.

Probably more games from my Steam library than meaningful games out there on the App store.

Maybe it's unfair of me to compare Windows RT with Windows proper, but perhaps MS should have tried a bit harder differentiating between the two products because at it stands Windows proper does everything RT does on-top of supporting (basically) Steam and my backlog of hundreds of games (of which a significant chunk are playable even on Atom CPUs).

The Windows 8 app store in no way has "pretty much everything you need." And this is coming from someone happy with the Windows Phone app selection. I mean it took almost a year to get a freaking Facebook app onto Win8. Tablets are much more of a leisure device than a phone. If I'm spending $4-500 on something I don't absolutely need then it better provide a lot of entertainment value for that money. So while I don't necessarily miss having the latest iOS games on my phone, only having the Win8 store game selection for a tablet would be a deal breaker.

I guess my needs are a lot different than yours.

Browser (which is where people are 90% of the time on their tablet..)

It has OFFICE

What is missing? Games? There are games. Does it have candy crush? I guess not. I can't believe people are so obsessed with simple tablet games.

"There are games."

You sound like a Vita or Wii U owner.

It's RT? DOA. Shame.

I don't think it's the quickness but app support.

I would argue that the browser version of an app on Windows RT is a better experience than an app on a competing OS. So missing apps is not really a problem.

The full sized USB port and VPN possibilities however have been much more useful to me than any amount of apps in an app store. Windows RT is a great platform and people hating on it simply because it's RT are missing out.

Damn that is one sexy tablet, shame the thread had to be ruined by the RT hate.

RT tablets are here to compete with android tablets and ipads not full windows devices.

People complaining about apps need to realize the store has only been around for 1.5 years and already has more than 100.000 apps. The app store will only grow, especially knowing that microsoft is integrating metro in almost everything these days.

I want to buy a new Tablet pretty much just for browsing the net at home, and want to get the Ipad Air as my first Ipad...

But this shit is ridiculously sexy...
