Nolan North: "I have no idea about Uncharted 4"

I'm not convinced there's going to be an Uncharted 4, or an Uncharted on the PS4 at all.

I still think Naughty Dog is just gonna move on to a new IP next gen, just like they've done with each new PlayStation console.

Maybe, but there are different circumstances now. Sony own Uncharted and ND has great creative control over it, so it's not the same situation as the Crash deal ending. And UC is more popular and integral to the Sony brand than Jak was. There's a lot more incentive to carry on with Uncharted. They can have one team doing that while the other can do a new IP or (god forbid) another TLOU

They don't mocap do they?

So the voice acting can be done at a much later stage.

Pretty sure they've done mocap since Uncharted 1. They talk about it in the Uncharted 2 documentaries how it's different then other games since they do their own mocap for their characters and how they're all in the room together acting out their scenes instead of recording each line individually with headphones. A lot of the good lines in the game are ad-libs.

Yeah, I checked and posted a couple of pages back, they use mocap for the body but not the faces, which are not captured at all. They then record the dialogue and match the best audio performance to the mocap from the actors bodies.

I'm not sure I need another Uncharted and would prefer they do something else next (maybe come back to UC later), but I'm down for whatever ND wants to do. While I was a little let down by Uncharted 3, I think without as harsh a deadline and not being the first game after some broke off for the new team like UC3 was, a new Uncharted would go a lot better. I do hope they find some ways to mix up the formula a bit though. I loved how much time the team got for The Last of Us (from what I can tell it is the longest a game was in development at Naughty Dog). Seems the UC3 team will have at least 3 years for this next game which is good.

Obviously there is nothing to glean from these Nolan North comments. He probably knows exactly what they are doing next and if it is Uncharted, he would still say this.

I'm sure they'd get the script and voicework done well before any real work on the game needs to start like animated movies do it. So if U4 is going to come out in the next couple years, North would at least know about it if not already have a script and begun some recording by now. Wouldn't he? Granted I'm ballparking like crazy with no real information about how this all works.

I expect some Uncharted news by Gamescom... :(

Assuming the Uncharted 3 team has been working on something Uncharted-related for the PS4, we'll probably get a trailer of some sort at the VGAs, a la Uncharted 2 in 2008 and Uncharted 3 in 2010.

They've said on multiethnic occasions that they do trilogies for the main console franchises. I hope there isn't an UC4. How about new games?

I'm expecting a teaser at the VGAs but I wouldn't mind them taking an extra year. I want more Uncharted but I hope they take their time and do something fresh with it.

Guys, you realize that Naughty Dog is a two-title studio now, right?

Uncharted and [insert new IP], guaranteed.

Hell, you can probably thank UC4 for giving them the room to make The Last of Us, they might not have been able to make it otherwise.

I would like to see Uncharted 4 on the PS4, irrespective of Naughty Dog's three game rule. It's the series where I've had the most fun with. And despite being linear 'cinematic' shooters (something GAF appears to hate), the Uncharted games are extremely polished and well made.

Uncharted has also grown into a pretty big franchise. I don't see why Sony would abandon the IP. Besides, Naughty Dog have 2 teams. One can make Uncharted, the other a new IP.

ND have already hinted at them doing another Uncharted. They said they'll do it as long as they still enjoy it and have ideas, which they do. I expect one more ND developed Uncharted.

Uncharted 4 should be about Sir Francis Drake
I could see them having some parts with Sir Francis similar to the Young Drake flashbacks but not the whole game. Uncharted is a shooter and it's about Nate, Sully, and Elena. Removing those characters would remove the series' soul.

Never really understood why so many people like Uncharted. Played the second one I think and didn't find it all that great..

I can't see him the same way after his perverted act in TLOU. I just can't.

If ND's past is any indication, they will move onto new IP's.
I don't think their past is a good map of where they're going. They've already done two new IPs this gen, have never had a franchise as big as Uncharted (you could argue Crash but the IP got sold), and now they have two teams.

They should do a city of Atlantis Uncharted, have it a little open world (just a little) where you can explore various islands to find clues that eventually lead you to find the city. Then they can put it to rest at least for a few years.

the thing is we prolly need a rest from it, U3 was more of it, not better and different, and i LOVE this series, but in order to evolve, it needs to risk, and then they can find a way to tie it with the modern Nate, maybe Francis was just like Nate ;), and a game about the time of pirates made by ND is sure going to be 10000000 times better than AC 4. Treasure hunting and all, maybe something gets unresolved and Nate can go after it on the next game.
