This (Link) is the first mention of December sales that I've seen thus far. We now have some actual numbers (Link) instead of just percentages. Updating the totals:
2008:
DS - 966k (LTD - 2,290,000)
WII - 875.6k (LTD - 1,551,000)
360 - 500k (LTD - 1,195,000)
PS3 - 430k (LTD - 740,000)
PSP - 297k (LTD - 933,000)
PS2 - 155k (LTD - 2,800,000) (I believe this is only from Oct/02 onwards)
The PSP and PS2 numbers for 2008 are still based upon the percentages given in the first article that I linked.
It should be noted that I am going by memory with respect to 360 sales for Dec/05. I lost the article, so I am going by memory. In any case, the 360 LTD should be within 10-15k. Also, I've noticed that the Canadian numbers get adjusted from time to time. Just for an example, NPD reported the 2007 DS sales to be 696,500 at the end of 2007, but then they were reported as 711,000 for the same period of time just about a month ago.
I should also point out that the Wii numbers for 2007 have been revised up to 591k. They were originally given as 567. And as mentioned earlier, the DS numbers for 2007 were revised up to 711k from 696.5k. The 2007 industry revenue figure was also revised up to $1.578 billion from $1.531 billion. I don't know if any other hardware numbers were adjusted, but it is definitely possible.
Finally, the PS2 LTD is based off of a LTD number provided by a representative from NPD in Nov/07. However, NPD Canada did not start tracking Canadian sales until the start of 2003, and at that time they went back and provided estimates for Q4 2002 (Oct - Dec). So I am pretty sure that these PS2 numbers would not include anything from before Oct/02. So Oct/00 - Sept/02 is probably missing from this data, which just using a rough estimate would probably add anywhere from 750k - 1M units to the total.
Also, the top 5 software titles for the year were Rock Band, GTA4, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit, and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. However, this combines all SKUS, so it doesn't mean much. Hopefully, we'll get some sort of software chart broken down by individual SKU.
