Don't worry about the Micron memory stuff, it was a really small number of cards effected, I have Micron memory on my Gigabyte G1 1070 and it's completely stable with a decent OC too.
Cool, thanks

I wonder how well this card does at 4k. I am thinking about a 4k monitor in the future.

huh, good to know. im debating getting either that EVGA or the G1 gaming, but knowing EVGA can actually be good, the difference of almost 400 BRL seems ridiculous. would the difference on clock speeds be that significant?Really popular, great warranty.
I've heard that their models might have some coil whine but I think that's only because they're popular and the issue is not really widespread.
yeah, basically 100 euros. really thinking of pulling the trigger on the EVGA then, seeing they have a better representation here in brazil too, in case something happens. thanks for helping.I'd say its pretty negligible difference, and you can OC the EVGA manually, should have no difficulties reaching same clocks as G1, but if you don't want to that and want the best out of box performance G1 Gaming could be a good choice. Definitely not worth that much though, 400 BRL is 100 euros? Just OC manually if you ever need more power, I'm fairly sure you'll be quite happy for a good time with the stock EVGA, though depending on your resolution/fps needs.

That sounds good enough.I got my GTX 1070 along with my 4K IPS panel to play in native 4K. While it struggles to play some of the newest games in 4K, I can usually turn down a few settings to maintain 60fps.
Makes sense, but I don't spend 1k on a gpu, so yeah, 1070 it is.=pIf you want to crank everything to Ultra, it can do 4K/30 on the most demanding titles. You can get closer to 60 if you don't mind turning down some settings.
It should be able to do 4K/60 on less demanding and older titles.
If you want 4K/60 Ultra on everything right now, you've got to shell out $1,300 for the big bad Titan X.
I just remembered to check the memory and it looks like I have Samsung as well. Are you using Afterburner or the Precision software for OC?

What do you mean by that?=OThis isn't even true sadly.

Damn, well, as long as there's a way to get 60FPS often with some settings turned down that's fine by me.Titan XP won't be enough for 4K@60fps everywhere. It's quite often goes below 60 in 4K even in games which don't use MSAA. You'll have to lower the settings considerably to have 60 in 4K everywhere.
IMO, it's too early for 4K monitors at the moment. GPUs aren't fast enough yet as even a $1200 videocard can't pull off stable 60 fps there.
I sure hope so.4k with 60 fps on ultra settings seems really hard to do. I'm just gonna wait for the 1170s personally. I think that will be the 4k card
Saw a couple below $400 this week, but man I did not expect the average price to stay this high for this long. My decision to get that $399 Windforce back in like July is looking better and better.

Any MSI Gaming X 1070 users here? I can get it for a good price in my country, and the reviews are amazing. How is it, does it have coil whine?

Why the extra performance when what you have already is more than enough? Why leave that extra performance on the table?
Is there a guaranteed way I don't get the Micron GDDR5?
In the market now...![]()
Not likely, unless you plug in the card and run gpuz. For what I've seen you have more chances on getting micron if you buy MSI or Gigabyte. If I were you, get an EVGA. Great support, most of them are Samsung, and you got 90 days if you wish to step up to a better card (like the 1080 or if a 1080 ti comes out in the future) by just se ding in your card and paying the difference. Just my 2 cents.
Really curious about the Volta line-up next year, myself. My 1070 is serving me well at the moment in 4K or 1440p (sweet spot for a lot of games).
My brand new EVGA 1070 FTW has Micron GDDR5.
Am I fucked? What does this mean?
Undervolting successful!

The card is very silent, never exceeds 75°C, voltages fluctuate between 850-950mV and it now boosts to 2000-2050mhz, I will try to give my memory a slight boost later.
What problems were you having?
I didn't have any problems actually but a friends GPU inspired me to try this. He runs a R9 390 in a mini-ITX case which frequently hit 85°C during summer, I eventually solved this by undervolting his card by 81mV. The card ran still at the same clockspeeds 100% stable but lost almost 10°C and a whole load of noise so I wondered if I can drain a few mV on my 1070 to offset the cheaper cooler and give me a bit more boost-potential. Turns out I could and it also solved the 83°C in Overwatch that kept nagging me without adding more noise![]()
Is 2050 core 4120 memory a good overclock for the msi gaming x card? It's the best I can get with full power limit unlinked from temps and no voltage adjustment without Firestrike crashing. In afterburner it says +90/+120.
I'm not sure if I want to play with voltages or if it's worth it.
Pretty ok if you have the Micron Memory I would say.
Nope i have samsung.

I wish I could get an equivalent of my current Palit Super Jetstream just with Samsung Memory... Buying later didn't pay off...
Ah, sounds like you got good results then.
Then you should be able to gain much more on the memory. Run some kind of benchmark and always increase the memory clock by 10 while still having the benchmark open until you are seeing some artifacts.
I wish this Micron Memory stuff would blow up as much as the 3.5GB fiasco: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...cron-memory-1070-cards-/post/4979813/#4979813
