Nvidia GTX 1060 Reviews

I need some advice on which card I should purchase.

I'm based in the UK and I'm looking to purchase a 1060, but I have no idea which one I should buy, as there seems to be a few different versions each with slightly different prices!

Check clock speeds. A balance between higher clock speed and higher price might help you choose.

I bought a Zotac 1060 mainly because it was the only one I could get at retail price. Still waiting for it to ship

I went to ebay and saw that people are bidding in excess of $330 for these.

I seriously hope nobody on here is doing that. They are not worth that. SAve up a little more and buy a 1070.

Pretty much any you can get your hands on. But go with the lower priced ones if you have options.

Just not the reference, though i hear its not bad either.

People on Ebay are weird. They'll regularly pay very slightly less for a used card, completely forfeiting their warranty in the process.

Some AIB 1060 are the best for the money.

$249 delivering 980 performance is a non-match in the market actually.

FE on the other hand are really bad at the price.

My wife says she's fine with her 950 until I upgrade my 980ti and she gets it but for some reason I still REALLY want that zotac mini in her computer

I think this is just new tech lust though

ZOTAC's card is in stock here at Amazon. Just placed my order and chose prime 2-day shipping, but estimated delivery is July 27. Oh well.

It was the AMP! edition, too, so after tax I ended up paying just over $300. A little bummed I couldn't get a $250 model from newegg with their paypal discount, but my impatience got the best of me I suppose. Now to break this to my wife...

Goddamn my Zotac 1060 amp was going to be shipped today but it didn't. It will be shipped tomorrow.
So no chance of getting it this week. Sigh.

jet has the zotac, and I've never ordered from them so i get 15% off for new orders.

Are they a reliable seller? slow shipping, anything to be concerned with?

They seemed a little overpriced, but I suppose that discount will even you out. Never heard of them, tbh.

yeah after the discount it's 251, which is less than amazon after tax

I've heard of them for a while and seen them around here every so often but haven't ordered from them ever

Fedex Express Saver. the only thing they saving is not updating the tracking

edit; after posting this they updated. i hope they realize it's a business address. RIP

I never buy a video card used online. Ever. It's simply impossible to know if the owner took care of it or it was defective. YOu have no idea what temperature it was stored at or what level they tried overclocking etc. All things that can shorten the lifespan.

But if I did, I would make damn sure it was still in warranty and the owner could provide a receipt for the purchase. You can always claim it was a gift if needing to RMA.

However, in the case of the 1060s going for inexcess of $330. That's just insane. Spend a little extra and get a 1070 at that point. The ASUS Turbo 1070 is selling on Newegg for $409.

No open world games though. You can't just use those 4 games to make a claim like that.

In some games a good cpu can make a big difference.

Games like the Witcher 3 and GTAV also show big improvements when overclocking and using I7s.
I don't see any difference in TW3 between my old i7-3820 and my new i7-6850. And why would I if my 980Ti is always running at 100% in TW3 even on 3820?

Just ordered the OC EVGA from Newegg.

Anyone have experience with ordering their backordered items and how likely you are to get it?

Anyone received an update from Newegg on any of the backordered items?

Heard nothing so far on the EVGA.

Been keeping my eye on the stock levels at Newegg Canada. The 2 Zotac cards are back in stock. Is there a reason that the Zotac cards seem to be the last ones to sell out? I've never owned any Zotac products before.

I couldn't get consistent 60fps in bf1 alpha until I overclocked my 3570k to 4.4GHz

Constant dips to 40fps prior to oc.

This may well be present in alpha only. But if you force a game to be CPU limited by running low resolutions and low graphics settings then sure, you can easily find games which will benefit from a CPU upgrade. This will be somewhat of a theoretic scenario though as most people tend to max out their videocards instead of finding modes where a game will be CPU limited.

I'd buy based on who has the best RMA service should you need it. So EVGA, KFA2/Galaxy, Zotac or Gigabyte. All have UK bases.

Ordered a Zotac GTX 1060 Mini, gonna be upgrading from my Radeon HD 7950. I originally wanted an RX 480 but it's marked up to hell over here and the 1060 is only slightly more expensive then it so I might as well go with it. Someone validate my choice to make me feel good.

Your a traitor to AMD. I hope you like your 5.5GB card with crappy DX12 performance!

Just kidding

I'm going from a 7870 tahiti le to a 1070 if there were good 480 AIBs 2 weeks ago I might have got one or if I waited 2 more days the 1060 might have been tempting. While I was waiting for both I talked myself into a 1070 though. I think the 1060s great and 6GBs of VRam should be good for awhile.

Probably a dumb question but does the smaller size of the mini negatively affect cooling and potential overclocking? It's the only card I've seen in stock and I'm getting tempted but I'm not in such a hurry that I'm willing to buy a card that won't perform as well as other cards.

Oh god you just reminded me of that 3.5 GB 1080 issue which slipped my mind, hope there isn't anything similar with this line of cards.

Installed mine a few hours ago and have been playing ever since. Holy shit it is night and day compared to my 7950. Pretty much silent in every game I've played and highest temps outside of benchmarks have been 60C.

Nothing so far =/

No rush for me. Going to put the 1060 to replace my 970, which will replace a 770, which will replace a 500 series. :D

I wanted a 4GB RX 480 but gave up. I decided on the EVGA GTX 1060 SC; upgrading from a GTX 760.

The 1060 consumes very little power and produces very little waste heat. I don't know about the Zotac cards in particular, but some ITX-sized 960s and AMD 380s are just as performant as dual-fan models of the same card. The smaller heat sink is, however, objectively worse. You'll see slightly higher temperatures (2-5 degrees), but they'll be so far below the maximum operating temp that it's negligible. Really, any cooler longer than the PCB is overkill for something this efficient.

So, is it worse? Yes. Does it matter? probably not. If you're ready for a new GPU, just go for it.

EVGA non SC card in stock at Newegg Canada. Any reason I shouldn't get this in favor of the SC card if I plan to manually overclock it myself?

It will negatively affect cooling and as a result it will most likely be noisier and will have less OC headroom. Unless you're limited by space in your case don't go for the mini version(s).
