NY Times - Health Exchange Enrollment Jumps, Even as G.O.P. Pledges Repeal

they're in too deep. they have to "repeal" it in much the same way that a guy who keeps bragging about the size of his penis has to take out his penis when he is cast in a porno. this is the moment of truth as the GOP unzips its pleated haggar slacks.

That's what is so miserably infuriating about this. They're so concerned about being indignant and looking tough that they didn't notice or care that they were screwing themselves in the event that they ever regained power. This would almost be funny if it wasn't for the fact that lives are on the line over the next few years.

Are you telling me that the small government advocates are going to spend millions of taxpayers dollars and replace the system with an even more ineffective system that will cost taxpayers additional millions of dollars?!

i'm not telling you that!

i'm SHOWING you that!

Tea party people held up signs at rallies that read "keep government out of my medicaid".

A huge number of people have no idea how the shit they use every day actually works. They don't care as long as it seems to work. Then they become shocked when like, they ask to get rid of the thing they rely on, and somebody goes and gets rid of it.

Yup. Back when I worked for our state's umeployment office, I would often be told that

1. I was one of the good ones
2. Then they would start talking about the "others" who abuse the system while they put in, and they don't want the government to take away their benefits but in the very next sentence will say the government shouldn't extend federal extensions because it's their tax money being wasted.

I just look at them. I got written up once for educating someone under the guise of intimidating the claimant.

the cognitive dissonance is breathtaking

Fuck my own healthcare, EMAILS!!!!

"We didn't think he was serious."

As fun as this all is, most of the victory was on non-voters, with the Trump vote being influenced by "Killary" fake news. The reality is those 'undecided' voters probably had little idea what Trump actually meant for them, or considered him 'less bad' than the fake image of Hillary they were presented with.
Poor people vote with their gut, not their brain. And given all that BS noise and no educated skill to see through them, they voted against themselves because 'the other one's worse'.

It's worth noting there was very little fake news targeted at Trump too.
