I feel like Era represents the issues of the left wing not looking at its own party in a vaccum and constantly blames all issues on conservatives or even third parties (people who were on gaf in 2016 know what I mean by third parties) and thinking there's nothing wrong, thus making it impossible to have discussions.

The OP title the thread: "
I would like to know more about the Republican perspective
"
And this was the opening post:
I am looking for serious posts not troll posts or the usual responses in political threads. I never understood why some people relate to the Republican side. I always just assumed it was an easy answer like oh they are religious and against abortion or something. But I think it’s a lot more complicated than that.
I don’t mind paying taxes if it means others have health care. That is probably crazy to a Republican. I know it’s easy to just trash them but I am really just interested in understanding their view point better. If anyone has some good sources I would be interested.
Now on the service this will seem like a tame question that may fool you into thinking Era has the capacity to actually have this discussion...
But let's be honest we know this isn't going to go well, so here is basically what resetera thinks the republican perspective is, and by thinks I mean they think they factually know.
BEHOLD:
know you want serious answers, so I’ll give you one. Racism and selfishness. Whether or not they see themselves that way, that is what the Republican Party is.
That's apparently it, including those Black people who are now racists and white now, not sure how that works.
this is a pretty good read for the Republican mindset:
basically a lot of it is (mostly white) people who feel neglected by society due to no longer feeling like they are in charge, or feel like the country is moving away from them in some way
it's also very easy to get the average american scared of immigrants or socialists or radical leftists, albeit much more difficult than previously
another thing to consider is a lot of people don't really consider positive rights (such as health care or education) to be as valuable as negative rights (such as freedom of speech or having the least amount of business regulations possible), even if they can't articulate this very well
Yes those Red states with 90% white populations don't feel their in control, there's nothing else to the party, like say, actually having policies that don't cause mass homeless, feces, medieval diseases, and murders every 10 minutes. Damn you
EviLore
, you're not in charge anymore dammit!
Wait...
Religion is a laughable excuse. Every major religion regularly teaches that basically everything the Republican party advocates for is against their teachings.
Democrats shouldn't be making this argument.
Republicans are all about the status quo which means maintaining white male privilege and taking advantage of marginalized groups. At this point they've become religous/political extremists due to their absolute refusal to accept our collective march forward into the 21st century.
Essentially they want the US back in the 1950s when a man could cheat on his wife and beat her and she was obligated to stay with him and remain silent. Or when police could beat and kill black people with immunity because nobody was paying attention. Or when they didn't have to worry about polluting the environment or compete in global markets. Or when the only immigrants they needed to "worry" about were white Europeans.
They've been taken advantage of by the 1% who feed them the propaganda they need to justify their beliefs while voting against their best interest.
Most of the police that kill black people are democrats, in democratic cities, run by democratic mayors, like say Mr. Mayor Pete buttedge who FIRED a black police chief who was complaining about racisim in the police force then he hired a guy that made things worse, and even admitted he didn't fix the quotas during one of the debates.
But because he's "Gay" and had a fake marriage with his fake "husband" he gets a free pass. (reason why black men keep moving right every year.)
But blame the republicans for your failures democrats, makes tons of sense right?
These are just some of the garbage from that thread, what vile people. But if you remember the election night thread in 2016, these people will call death on people that don't agree, and not one person who did was modded in that thread.
