Charlotte's GM only wants NBA ready players right now.Bat said:Seriously. I don't see why a team like Charlotte didn't pick Green up....instead they got Sean May, who plays the same position (PF) as Okafor, and is extra chunky to boot. By the way, if all the GM's could redo last year's draft, Al Jefferson would go second (behind Dwight Howard).

This isnt' that bad for the Raps.
If we had drafted Graham at 7, Roku at 16 and Charlie at 41 people wouldn't be freaking out, yet because of the order in which they went, and percieved mock draft value, it's a total disaster. Draft Green with your #1 pick and Raptorland is happy. Same with Granger....Oh well. If we're not going to move Charlie, I'll hope for the best. It sure wil be fun having a guy that looks that spooky on your team I guess.

He was banned in the Hate thread for posting a picture, but I thought he got unbanned...Cubsfan23 said:what was he banned for?
I agree, Granger sould've been the pick over May.Bowser said:I really wish we had taken Danny Granger though; I mean, we were considering him at 5 (reportedly) so for him to fall to 13, I thought it was a slam dunk that we'd take him. But I'm still happy with May.

Gerald Green's family applauded 4 times last night In no particular order:
1. When he was finally drafted (obvious)
2. When Vitale expressed surprise that he had fallen so far
The family also applauded twice when the Toronto Raptors didn't select Green.

Jordan did this with a lot of success with Pippen, Kerr, Cartwright, etc. Kobe will have to give the tub a few years of leniency though as the high schoolers can crack under that kind of barrage the first few years, as seen with Kwame. But once he hits 20, Kobe needs to go Bill Cartwright on his ass.
Kobe this is the one and only time you should be like Mike!
Hello everyone and welcome to the NBA Draft at Madison Square Garden in New York City, home of the Knicks and (whoops, I have to sound excited when I say this) the New York Liberty! A quick note this is the last year that we will allow high schoolers to be drafted. As you probably heard by now, I have destroyed the Players Association again. There's nothing left. Just rubble. Don't challenge me again next time, the casualties will be significant. I'm warning you "
9:02 ESPN should have a feature in the post-draft special with NBA fans calling friends who aren't watching the draft to tell them what happened in the last 10 picks. I just called my buddy House, who's at the Nationals game in DC right now he let out a series of "What? You're lying! What? What? Come on! Get out of here! Whaaaaaaaaat?" Highest of high comedy. I felt like I was telling him that I just grew three extra nipples and a third leg.

edit: one of his weakest diaries I think. Too many wingspan jokes and the whole thing felt tired. Not bad, just weak for his previous standards.
Loki said:So did anyone figure out what the Lakers' "secret" was that Pippen talked about last week? I'm pretty curious, myself. I wouldn't be surprised if it was another flagrant bending/changing of the rules to help LA become competitive again, a la the change to a 7 game first round a couple of years back (i.e., "the LA rule").![]()
Denver personel Jim Harrick, was on one of the LA radio show here in LA. He said he knows for a fact, that the Lakers #10 pick in Bynum was a draft pick for another team. The Lakers are in the works with a trade with another team.
The radio station guy said, you may be right. Mitch and Phil said they won't draft a High School Kid. And Phil never gives rooke a minute of playing time. Jim Harrick response by saying, in July you will see who the Lakers traded him to, and what kind of players the Lakers will get back in return..
I had a feeling about this...I sorta knew something was up, The Lakers front office werent too excited after this pick..
P.S. No matter what your black heart says, the 7 game first round change will always and forever be known as the T-Mac rule. Stern hates T-Mac and knows that T-Mac's powers vanish after winning 3 games dooming him to forever stay in the first round (Yao's powers vanish after running up and down the court 2 times, but Stern had nothing to do with that).
DMczaf said:The US GOVT is against T-Mac and Yao creating a dynasty!
Q. Commissioner, with the 14 player roster, does that mean now, does the injured list situation change or no, you can have 14 active?
COMMISSIONER DAVID STERN: We are going to change the injured list situation to a point where every team can have up to 15 players on its roster the roster will be expanded to 15, 12 active.
Performers included Destiny's Child, Missy Elliott, The Game and Mary J. Blige. The Game carried his young son on stage and changed the lyrics to his song, "Hate It Or Love It," saying, "Got BET on the grill of my low-rider."
The women of Destiny's Child wore slinky brown dresses in their performance and pulled Nelly, Terence Howard and NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson onstage for a trio of lap dances.
Stevie Wonder closed the show with his current single What the Fuss. Smith gave a shoutout to Michael Jordan before Will and Jada announced the final award of the night Video of the Year to Kanye West. The couple then joined Wonder, who returned to sing Happy Birthday to BET in honor of its 25th anniversary this year.
