Lakers need to trade for some huge expiring contracts and get under the cap. It's easier for the Lakers to rebuild through free agency rather than through trades because they have no bargaining chips besides Lamar Odom. Kobe + Phil can attract free agents, but as long as they are over the cap, that won't do them any good.
