I'm so mad.

The Yankees just re-acquired Sergio Mitre from the Brewers for cash considerations. The Yankees traded Mitre to the Brewers for outfielder Chris Dickerson near the end of spring training on March 25. The Brewers DFA'd Mitre on Monday. The Yanks DFA'd Buddy Carlyle to make room on the 40-man.

The Yankees traded Mitre literally hours after signing Kevin Millwood to a minor league deal. However, Millwood invoked an opt-out clause since he had not been called up before May 1.

GAF! Long time no see! I will be making my first trip ever over the border this Saturday to see Doc pitch against his former team! Doytch or Big J or whoever, if you guys are also at the game and want to meet up send me a PM! Also, is there anywhere in Toronto I must go? I'll only be there for two days before heading up further north in Canada for a surefire Deliverance situation, but hopefully not before I see a Phillies win.

Yep, pile it on.

Aaaaaand the Tigers bring in a position player to pitch.

Edit: If Hariston strikes out here, oh man.

Some position players have surprisingly good fastballs. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones they choose pitched in high school or college.

I'm so mad.

The hate I saw in the Fox Sports STL feature they did on his returning in a game with ATL was funny.

'JD too few cause he didn't sign autographs or play enough'

He is at 1547 career games and if that was a 10 year career with a week missed a year on average he is a great player. 142 hits 27 doubles 5 triples 24 HRs 87 walks 9 steals.

Problem is it has taken him 12 and a half years to play 10.

Swing and a miss, he struck him out and the ballgame is mercifully over. mets move to 2 games over .500 and the Mets win 16-9! Not a good start by Capuano but the now record-breaking Mets offense had his back, 16 runs on 20 hits with 6+ walks taken. Daniel Murphy and Angel Pagan had huge timely hits tonight...

Does anyone remember in 2006 that 10-1 roadtrip the Mets had capped by the Alay Soler shutout in Arizona? SNY brought up a good point, that the last time I can remember the Mets offense this locked in... the main difference? Look at the offense that game.

that team was stacked offensively, whereas this team isn't going to hit homers and is full of AAA heroes. How this team is doing it is amazing, and they're taking their cues from men like Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran. They don't strike out, they work the count and take walks, and when they don't make errors they're tough to beat. This team is as resilient as fuck, and how many times over the past two weeks have you thought "Ok Mets will fall off now" and they don't? Terry Collins has done a great job pushing the right buttons and instilling toughness on this team.

Tomorrow the juggernaut Mets offense faces a true test as they face Justin Verlander.

I thought about it... but even on StubHub! the tickets have been expensive.

You live around here don't you? There is always a way. Wait until Friday or Saturday and look around.

Mets are scoring a ton of runs against a (now former) first place team. Looks like they really want to keep this team together. Getting back Wright Davis and Santana sooner than later would be really, really nice.

And Frankman:

Totally right about the makeup of the team. Kind of reminds me of the 99-00 Mets. A bunch of nobodys with a couple of stars. Tomorrow night will be a serious test.

It's almost hard to believe that Reyes is taking pitches and walking- But he is. Who would have thought the Alderson philosophy would have taken hold so quickly?

No matter what happens this season, at least the team is fun to watch.

If you pass by nearby Mississauga, you'll be in my home town (note: not where I live now).

I just moved to NC last week...I hate myself for missing this. Had tickets for all three last year.

Anyway, depends on what you want to see really. You'll only have one other day I guess, but there should be stuff/festivals going on with it being Canada Day weekend. Google the distillery district, there's generally some festivals going on there. Live music wise, check what's going on at the Horseshoe, the El Mocambo, Sneaky Dee's, Wrongbar, the Garrison... Sneaky Dee's also has my favourite nachos ever, the King Nachos. The art gallery (AGO) is running an exhibition from MOMA atm, plus it's a really nice building and close to other cool stuff at Queen West.

Let me know if you're looking for something specific.

When your starting pitcher goes the distance and your team loses 1-0 on an unearned run after an errant throw by your best defensive player, you will be salty too.
