How should I fucking know, Heyman reported it.
I would hazard a guess that the brewers are not, in fact, moving KRod to shortstop. Saito-KRod-axford sweet, as long as the mets are paying for him.

do the brewers have anything that would make the mets pay for him? And this is the same team that is like a billion in debt too.

K-Rod plus cash to the Brew Crew for two PTBL.

Guy on a Mets board posted about K-Rod being dealt around 10pm, dude had the scoop on Tony B as well. He did make another thread about Reyes, a while ago, but it turned out to be false. Was going to post it earlier but the guy was batting .500. Guess I can trust him a bit more after tonight.

How's losing the game better then not showing up?

Do all yankee fans have attitudes like this?

"Its better to not even bother than to lose"

Something you want to teach your kids, for sure!

I see Yankee fans are still smarting after last year's ALCS.

Have you ever seen K-Rod at SS? Don't be so quick to judge your organization.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind making a trade for players to be named later?

I don't know the specifics of this trade, but the Indians are fond of doing conditional PTBNL's. It can be tied to performance of the player being traded (giving the team getting the star player a better sense of security) or allowing their scouting department to do further advanced scouting on the minor leaguers being considered.

Yea, I don't understand why agents allow that 'finished games' clause. It seems to never work out for closers. Kerry Wood got screwed out of a third year because of it.

K-rod is going to throw a hissy fit if he isn't the 9th inning guy.
He better get hissing cause his save total is about as high as it will get til September.

Beautiful. Essentially a free pitcher to bolster the pen. Way to go, Doug! Also congrats to Mets fans for moving this awful contract.

Our players wanted to rest up before starting the second half instead of participating in a sham game. That's their choice. I guess when you get voted to the All-Star game every single year it gets old.

I would have figured it would taken at least a couple of weeks for Yankees fans to whine about the AL losing them home field advantage in the WS.

Yanks lose 4-3 in the WS confirmed.

ONE fan making a mild complain is all fans now? oh ho ho ho.... good start.

You are really really confident that K-Rod's option doesn't vest.

According to Melvin it's completely up to the manager who the closer is. Bet he goes with K-Rod.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahha.........breathe

Also, Axford has closed 21 straight games. Ya, totally gonna remove him at the cost of $17 million.

Although Roenicke is fucking dumb.

Exactly why I think K-Rod is going to be the full time closer and K-Rod gets his guaranteed money.

I'm assuming Melvin is just being political here, in reality he told Roenicke he's fired if he makes K-Rod the closer.

Wait a minute, isn't K-Rod's option only applicable with the Mets. If he isn't with the Mets the option can't be triggered. He switched reps, with Boras now, because he knows he's going to be a FA.

Of course he is just being political. Melvin makes most personnel decisions, including player roles.

According to ESPN you are wrong.
So you're probably right.

Supposedly, Brian Wilson was fined $100,000 by MLB for breaking tampering rules by what he said about Carlos Beltran during the starting line-up reading.

Right, I thought there was language that said just that, and with him switching agents it reinforced it. Guess I was wrong.

He'll be an FA, wouldn't worry about him pouting, it's what Boras wants.

What he say? I missed the first few innings.

Roughly: "Batting second, right fielder Carlos Beltran. I heard we were interested in him. I'd be down for that. Great hitter. I'd love him in a Giants uniform."

So they were cool with the Giants letting Beltran and Reyes fly on the Giants charter plane to the ASG but not cool with Wilson saying Beltran is a pretty awesome hitter and that Sabean should look into trading for him? I'd find that completely ridiculous. When did MLB hire David Stern?

No, the reason everyone said a trade would void the option is just because nobody would be stupid enough to make him their closer. The Mets couldn't yank him from the closer role without losing a grievance and paying him anyway. It'll be interesting to see what happens if the Brewers' closer gets injured

He'll be an FA, wouldn't worry about him pouting, it's what Boras wants.

That would make sense (since that is how Boras would get paid), but Boras was just telling everyone he wouldn't accept a trade to a team as a setup man. Too bad he only has a limited non-trade.

It's possible Boras wants it to vest so he can demand more money for his other reliever clients

At least K-Rod will be away from his father in law. He may not care about the 17 million if he can put some distance between him and his in-laws.
The Brewers have the 8th and 9th innings covered now. I wonder if St. Louis will trade for anyone?

One of our guys has a rough few posts in this thread and you're painting all of us with that brush?

Last year's ALCS? Please allow me to quote one of the greatest films of all time...

For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Wait... some team out there thinks K-Rod will be an effective middle reliever?

Definitely believe it when I see it.

Good on the Mets for being able to unload that albatross. On Boomer & Carton they were saying it's a total savings on K-Rod of $20 MM (including the option). Increases the chances of re-signing Reyes, right?
