Also, RIP Alan Ball.

Here's a short highlight reel of a few goals he scored.
I think every one of those goals was from a broken play. Worst "highlight reel" ever.

There is legal public TV station that allowed P2P streaming. It's not like we cut out the commercial or anything.

boring first half and liverpool got what they deserved for playing so defensive. oh and riise, lol
I'm shocked! :lol

EDIT: So do Liverpool need a goal to stay in this, or are they ok at 1-0 headed back home?

I wasn't bored at all. It wasn't any Man Utd - Milan, but a decent game. Not if you're a Liverpool fan.

Chelsea deserve to be up, it could perhaps have been two. They've been good all round, the the exception of Shevchenko. Kalou would be so much more dangerous to the Liverpool defence, Shevchenko actually gives the ball back to them when he gets it.

While I can't predict Benitez's teams, I apparently can predict that Joe Cole would be the danger man.

Liverpool have gotten absolutely no success through the middle, but a tiny bit of joy down their left wing. Time for Crouch. It's not like Zenden's put in many decent balls, but he's bound too sooner or later and perhaps he'd be better with a big target to hit. The Chelsea defence have handled Bellamy and Kuyt with ease.

Anyone who can remember Chelsea and Liverpool's other CL clashes will be thrilled with this game.

Anyone remebering last night won't be.

The games this season haven't been that bad: 2-1 to Liverpool, 1-0 to Chelsea, and 2-0 to Liverpool. But yeah, that previous semifinal was a snoozer.

Not sure if this is completely accurate, but someone said it's been 9 hours since Liverpool have scored at Stamford bridge.

Well maybe if Chelsea/Liverpool had Man UTd utter shit defense the game would be more interesting, but since they don't, the game gets slower paced as it is.

Anyway, Crouch is a moron, does fault on the keepers area and complains to the referee. Retard monster

Well, maybe if Chelsea/Liverpool had Man U's awesome attack, the game would be more interesting as well.

I really didn't find the game boring. I mean I've seen these two sides play boring football this season (Newcastle v Chelsea just this weekend and Villa v Liverpool a bit back were just godawful) and that wasn't it.

Clearly a half each, but I think Chelsea deserved the victory in the end. Even though Liverpool had a much better second half and had the better play and possession, Chelsea still created the better chances. In fact, apart from Gerrard's fantastic shot which Cech kept out with an equally fantastic save, I can't really think of a time when Liverpool truly tested Chelsea.

It still could go either way as Liverpool are a different team at home, but the worry for them is Essien and Ballack should be back for next week. Liverpool have some long term absentees, it's not like they're full strength themselves, but I'm sure I'd have heard if anyone like Kewell or Luis Garcia were going to be back.

Crouch should have started and Zenden on the left was a mistake. He had a lot of room out there, got in some good positions, but if the times he actually managed to get the cross in rather letting a defender get to him, they were rubbish. Gonzalez would have been a better choice.

You don't agree that United plays fantastic attacking football?

I really like them, but i fail to see how they are much better than Chelsea or Liverpool. What they are is more exciting. Wich is much different from being better.

Certainly Liverpool can still win this tie, but the initiative is definitely with Chelsea. Obviously any victory at Anfield would do it for Chelsea, and any draw too. Not only that, but if Liverpool only win by a one goal margin then at best it'll go to extra time (1-0) and in every other case (2-1, 3-2 etc) they'll go out on away goals.

So the stats add up like this:

Chelsea to qualify - 69.8%

Liverpool to qualify - 14.3%

Extra time - 15.9%

That's much worse than I thought the odds would be after merely losing 1-0 on an away leg, but if you break it down, it makes some sense. Liverpool have a bit of work to do next week - not getting an away goal makes it tough.

Chelsea have only lost 4 times this season, all away, but only once has it been by the two goal margin Liverpool need....

Luckily, that loss was to Liverpool at Anfield....

Though Essien and Ferreira were playing centre back that day and Chelsea weren't in a position to defend a lead.

and thats why gerrard and lampard should not be the pairing for england.

no player from either team ever really tried to get the ball down and play good football, its just heads down, run around, kick the ball to a team mate when it comes near you or else just lump it to the penalty box.

part of me is embarassed that the glorious all english semi final resulted in that dross. best football league in the world? bah.

it would be a crime if chelsea won 3 or 4 trophies over man utd, sour dull football club wins over cavalier attacking led by thw two most exciting young players - would really upset my faith in the beautiful game.

And I suppose when Liverpool completely outplayed United at Anfield and there was no flow to United's game, that's the reason Carrick shouldn't play for England. Or his terrible passing against Milan for 60 minutes until Gattuso went off.

you enjoyed tonights game, you have the mindset of a typical english manager, in fact you wouldnt be out of place as englands new boss making the wrong decisions over and over.

man utd out played milan last night, it was only through 2 defensive lapses that milan even troubled our keeper and scored.

say what you like about gattusso going off, they still had pirlo, seedorf et al. you dont have a clue about good football.

for what its worth gerrard showed he is a great player tonight, but he didnt try to control the game, he's a maverick, a dynamo, he's not the foundation on which you build your game.

how you can choose lampard over him i dont know.

could you just point me in the direction of those boring English managers? Who are they? there must be quite a few, since they're typical.

Maybe because Lampard was the best player on the pitch today? Great forward runs, two good shots which took excellent saves from Reina to keep out, good defensive work when needed.

Today's game was decent, nothing special. I see worse games than that every week, even from United from time to time. Chelsea played better than United did for a good amount of the Milan tie before they found their feet. Liverpool were pretty crap.

Milan completely outplayed United until Gattuso went off, it was only their complete impotence up front (Gilardino is shite, he must have touched the ball like twice all game) which kept United in it. United had chances, they're always going to have chances with such great individual talents, but it was Milan controlling the game, not your precious Carrick who was incapably trying to deal with Kaka.

Why would I build my team around Lampard or Gerrard? I wouldn't build it around either, in fact I think the only English player good enough to justify building a team around is Rooney, and that's only when he's on form as he is now. But Rooney fits into the current England set up perfectly, so there's no need for any change around him.

But I forgot, Carrick will make everything better for England despite playign a hell of a lot of games and never making any difference, in fact our best performances have been without him. No doubt he'll do it through magic.

And players as important as Lampard and Gerrard, players who have consistently scored and made the crucial goals, players who have actually perfomed for England, players the biggest clubs in the world (like Barcelona) covet...**** em.
