Whoa, a little surprise there.

Benitez didn't substitute Voronin and he promptly scores his second goal tonight. Great performance, but he knows Bremen and it's easy to see.

Podolski is injured too as is Schlaudraff, which means that Bayern has no strikers left, so they are going to let Ribery play as a striker.
Sounds like somebody could stand to learn a lesson from Inter.

Time to plan the championship parade.

That's mildly annoying. Maybe I should root for Chivas! instead.
Pinche anglo, who do you think you are?

It would be much easier on me if we never shared a common team in any sport.

I like that quote from him, something like "I will play for Arsenal" lol. Two weeks later, he signs with Liverpool. Nice.

I am really curious how he will do. I think he's a good player and could be alright, I don't think he's ready yet though and Liverpool is the wrong place.

My Tevez related Cockney scheming plan looks like it might come to fruition after all, West Ham have (quite rightly imo) refused to let Tevez attend a medical today, it's just an MSI bully boy tactic trying to force our hand. But it seems Eggy will try and play this as by the book as possible and wont do anything without the PL saying it's OK.

Now the inevitable 'Is it worth it for Tevez?' questions are popping up all over the man u fan sites. If this doesnt get resolved this week, I could see Man U pulling out.

Five Live's Gordon Farquhar said: "Despite a day of talks led by chairman Eggert Magnusson for the Hammers and Maurice Watkins for United, there is no deal and West Ham clearly aren't going to be railroaded into this.

"They have refused a written transfer request, are asserting their rights over the player and are going to insist on this being a transfer between two clubs and not with a third party, the MSI group, whatever their claims over economic rights to the player may be."

So basically:

Man U Lawyer guy: "So, we want tevez"
Eggy: "Fine, but im not getting in shit for it so do it by the books or bugger off"
Lawyer: "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
Eggy: "That's right, bitch" *In my head, eggy says bitch a lot

Any place besides Arsenal is the wrong place Hadareud.

funnily enough, Peter Moore, scouser and declared Liverpool supporter quits Microsoft the same day I get an email that my 360 is on its way back after over a month.

Coincidence? You be the judge.

Personally I think Lakitu is somehow involved.

Right before you leave for vacation, eh? It's a vast Liverpool-MS conspiracy, and Lakitu and Peter Moore are right in the middle of it.

Man 2001 was a great year. Can't believe we couldn't get enough fans to come to the games, but I think it was because Landon left for europe that most of the fans turned away from the team. The owner of the Oakland A's is the one who bought the SJ Earthquake, and will have to make a brand new stadium in SJ.

The Independent reckon Robben's move to Real is imminent, as they think Chelsea have agreed a fee for Drenthe. That's believable enough, Malouda's come in, Robben's stalling on his contract and Chelsea have lost Bridge for a few months (and Cole is only jsut recivering from an injury), so Drenthe could cover left back too.

Then my teams from a bit back would look like this instead:

-------------------Cech-------------------

Ben Haim---Terry---Carvalho---A Cole

--------Sidwell---Essien---Lampard-----

--J Cole------------------------Malouda--

------------------Drogba------------------

/////////////////////////////////////////////

------------------Cudicini-----------------

Johnson----Alex----Ben Haim----Bridge

--------Mikel---Makelele---Ballack------

--Kalou-------------------------Drenthe--

------------------Pizarro------------------

No weaker really. The only downside would be their strengthening of CL rivals.

I hear they have to relinquish their 2001 MLS Cup in order to come back.
You can rewind that as many times as you want, and De Rosario still hits the winner in ET. :P

Yeah, the Capello connection would be great, but I still think he was being primed for the US development role.

They're a great team to watch, but I can't root for a team named after a Mexican team. If that doesn't bother you then go ahead. As a Cuban I always enjoy watching their star rookie Maykel Galindo.

It was a joke, mostly based on the fact that all their games are televised here in LA. No idea how popular they are but I saw a kid on the bus last night in a Chivas uniform, complete with cleats (he'd probably been playing).

I also saw a dude in an Arsenal jersey.

Haha that would be weird. Lets see we have:

AL
Me: Mariners
You: Angels

NL
Me: Dodgers
You: Padres

NBA
Me: Sonics
You: Lakers

NFL
Me: Seahawks
You: Raiders

NHL (lulz!)
Me: Kings (albeit I don't really watch them)
You: Ducks

College
Me: USC
You: UCLA

and now MLS
Me: Galaxy
You: Chivas (?)

Anything else you want to clear up? :-P

I think they made that one up without any help from the internets.

Arsenal were never interested in Martins, but to show that they didn't lie when they said they were they are now saying that he rejected the move. English newspapers ...

Bit late but Australia through to QTR Finals in Asian Cup after a dreadful start to their campaign. We're up against Japan and the Japanese are hoping for hardcore revenge after our 8 minute 3 goal comeback during the 1st stage of the World Cup last year that essentially knocked them out. They've predicted to flog us 3-0 so who knows what will happen.

Looks like South Korea are clawing back right now too after a shitty start also to the Cup, but it all depends on whether Bahrain beats Saudi Arabia.

Wenger said:
“Yes, I said at the end of the season I would not necessarily buy unless I found a super player,” he said. “But at that time, in my mind, Thierry was staying. Then the Thierry situation was raised when I had him on the phone in the holidays.

“I could not go into the new season without a striker. When he was staying I was buying one super class player. The problem became different when Thierry left. Then I had to buy a striker.

“Also I came to the idea to buy a full back who can play right or left because we will lose Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure during the African Nations Cup, as well as Emmanuel Adebayor.”

I am confused. Is he saying that the players he brought in aren't superclass and that he wouldn't have bought them if Henry hadn't left? Also, does that mean that he would have bought one superclass player if Henry would have stayed and didn't because he left?

What are you trying to say Arsene?

Does anyone know what is going on with the new EPL shirts?

My birthday is coming up and I told my girlfriend I want the new Arsenal away kit with a player's name and number on the back. She tried a few different places but everyone says the jerseys with authentic letters and numbers and EPL patches aren't available. I think the EPL will be using a new letter/number style but is it still impossible to get an authentic jersey?

Think I've solved this mystery:

From last night (first time we've worn the new shirts)

whu_1184752573_sigma4.jpg

Looks like the numbering has little lions on.

Yeah, looks like the deal is going ahead, Robben has agreed personal terms with Madrid which means Chelsea have given them permission to talk. No fee's agrred yet tho, i'm sure Chelsea will want at least the amount they paid for Malouda.

I expect we'll hear about a Drenthe deal within the next few days.

I really hope you are wrong.

According to newspaper reports he also agreed personal terms with Real last week, so I hope the Chelsea reports turn out to be shit too. Hopefully.

Well the same paper than said about Drenthe said about Robben last night, so I suspect their source knows what he's on about.

I don't think Drenthe will miss out on too many games, not if he plays like he did at the U21 championship. He'll just be rotated with Malouda, and it's the sort of position you frequently sub players as they tire, so I reckon he'll start and come off the bench a fair amount.

well, the Robben thing last night could well have been a guess, if an educated one.

Newspapers throw so much shit, something has to stick.

Part of the possible Drenthe deal is €10.000.000,00 and loaning him for 1 year to Feyenoord. So he'll join the squad for the 2008/2009 season.

It was The Independent though, not a tabloid.

The other possibility is that they'll just keep it as it is and not sell Wright-Phillips.

I also read that Alex might not want to come to Chelsea anymore, as he's worried about his first team chances. I'm not sure it's his choice to be honest, but if he doesn't come and Mourinho doesn't bring in another centre back in his place, then there's a small weakness, which is better than right now as I'm not seeing any.

It wouldn't necessarily make much of a difference, plenty of sides go whole seasons without injuries to their first choice centre backs, and even if they did there's Ben Haim, but it's still not the numbers I'd expect.

strange. I think Alex should have a very good chance of becoming a starter at Chelsea. Carvalho is decent but not worldclass and Alex has the potential to be.

If he doesn't want to come for that reason he's either not very confident in his ability or not very ambitious. Neither option is too desirable.

I think Carvalho's world class, best centre back in the league last year.

Alex is probably just looking at what Mourinho apparently thinks of him. I believe it was something like too slow, wouldn't fit in the Premiership...of course, bringing him in isn't necessarily Mourinho's choice, but it is his choice if he decides to make him 4th choice.

he definitely would be a very nice addition for any premiership side I think and I don't remember him as that slow either. Mourinho is a stubborn ****er of course.
